Thanks for the tip about spoonbills - will keep my eyes out!
Holiday sounds like it was good, if not relaxing. Fingers crossed for Mr CR's interview - it sounds like he works in a really interesting field. I wouldn't worry about the 2-year contract - the world will look very different in two years and as you say, they may well extend it. If the current job isn't going to work (if it still exists), then he should go for it.
Raspberry cake sounds amazing - I think they're actually my number one fruit (sorry strawberries!).Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Hazelnutty and themadvix, raspberries are in my top 3 also. However what I tend to find is that my top 3 changes over the year depending on the season. At the moment raspberries have edged out the blackberry (had an abundance of these over the last couple of week , so blackeberried out) and in third place is a apple called bloody butcher which is just coming into its own. Raspberry cake has gained mum's seal of approval, although I think I'm going to freeze some as it becomes quite a soggy cake due to the fruit continuing to breakdown. I might try putting some in the dehydrator to see if that makes any difference.
My run (read shuffle) went ok, DD2 ended up bring half the field back with her in her wheels as they have cut the grass. Just one more run and I feel I can move onto week 3 for a couple of weeks.
Need to sort out DD2 prescription, so off to sort now.

our first water lily. We didn’t think it would grow as our pond is so small. Really brightened up my day.

The hubbster didn't get the job. He was ok about it as he felt he was 'punching above his weight'. Oh well will continue to keep looking and he will find out by the 11th October whether he is still employed or not. He's booked him and DD1 a couple of nights away in Wales last minute (they go on Monday) to go walking. They were supposed to be going to do Ben Nevis but the weather is not good for next week and DD1 can't do any other week. So they are planning walking in the Rhinogs (hope I've spelt that right).
off to get DD1 a waterproof coat.

Beautiful poc of water lily!
Sorry to hear about the job - always good to give these things a go, though - sometimes these things we think are a stretch work out. Thanks everyone about the job. The hubbster is pretty much ok about it all.
After I threatened his holiday rights, the hubbster knuckled down and got the work done for his sometimes teaching job , which has needed doing for the past 2 months. During my rant I snuck in that the garage really needs sorting out and needs to be done before he goes back to work before I fall over something and break my neck. He is a massive hoarder, such as boxes of nails that belonged to his grandad and any suggestion of getting rid of them is met with 'we might need them'. Anyway, he and DD1 are now in rainy, foggy Wales, sounded super happy when i spoke to them an hour ago, they've played lots of games and are watching Games of Thrones. The weather looks better tomorrow and they are keen to get out on the hills.
DD2 and I have started home schooling again and she has decided she would like to learn French. Whilst she was researching and practicing, I managed to pot up several house pants. Started to do some decluttering and putting several items on Facebook to sell. I think I'm going to find a box to put the stuff I'm selling in so that its all in one place and then after 2 weeks if they not sold I'll try ebay and then charity shop if they don't go. My main issue is finding space for storing it all. Plus deciding what's utter crap and what is worth selling as its all very subjective. I'm struggling to know what is a good price. I have some stuff that I would normally put aside to car boot but there are none going off near us at the moment. Been to the alloment to fetch grapes and then called at DC world as I needed a new charger for my computer as the cable as frayed to the point of it been dangerous. Other than that not alot to report.
POSITIVES
1) House plants have more room to stretch their roots
2) Some interest in several items on Facebook
3) Free grapes
Take care everyone off to catch up with several of you.

Well done on repotting the house plants - mine are lucky if they get water! (Or they were, until I added it to my Google tasks along with intermittent household jobs)
I struggle with pricing things for Facebook too - somehow it’s easier on eBay. Good that you’ve got some interest though.Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days
