The hubbster is working at his temp job today, hopefully he won’t get too wet. I’m expecting to get wet at least twice today if it doesn’t stop as need to visit the allotment to pick veg/fruit for tea and take Miss Giddychops for a walk later. Was going to visit dad today, but he’s had a massive argument with my sister so decided to save my sanity and wait for the dust to settle before I go. Really not in the mood to play devils advocate, as I can guess what happened, who said what and whose mainly to blame. Plus I’ll end up in the firing line and not prepared to be sworn at. Families eh 🙄, well mines more🤪. New day to look forward to full of possibilities.

What a lot going on, CR, and all of *your* stuff is really good!  Glad to hear about the self care too, not getting involved in the aftermath of the family argument.  Hope you don't get too soggy.

Glad things have settled down with your dad. While the offer of the car is great, is it likely to cause potential problems in the future (I may have totally misread the situation, but this seems like a way that interference could be caused by your dad should he feel the need? Otherwise, it sounds like a great idea. Hate to think about the insurance, so if they're willing to help out with that, even better!

Also glad to hear that DD2 is OK, it sounds like it could have been nasty. (I'm afraid I'd be just as likely to blame the 'stupid furniture'! ;) )

Hi themadvix  Interference by my dad is not tolerated, he learnt along time ago not to mess with me (or the kids- the hubbster can look after himself) otherwise I’m out the door. He once told me I should respect as he’s my dad, my response was when he did something to earn my respect he would get it (at the time he’d had an affair and left my mum up s””t creek with a flimsy paddle (did leave her a paddle at least) took him along time but he got there eventually . My sister is 20 years younger than me and is still learning the ropes but she’s getting there. I think she’s going to turn the car down as she says she won’t need one for 4 years, the expense and environmental reasons.
The hubbster has harvested more potatoes and had a works meeting today. Guess which he enjoyed the most?

Thinking about investing in premium bonds as bank etc interest is so low and don’t want to lock money away for years at a time. Anybody else doing this? Also does anybody know what the government uses the money we deposit, investment wise ie fossil fuels, weapon companies etc.

I store my tax money in premium bonds - very easy to access and love the occasional win.

I have no definite idea about what the government uses it for, but I imagine it’s general government spending - which is why NS&I are offering relatively good rates at the moment, they need our money to pay for all the spending!

  • Thanks themadvix, I will investigate some more.
DD1 got her revised grades and her biology had moved from an A to an A* and as an added bonus her freinds and her are in the middle of a mammoth session of D and D so she is a very happy person. The hubbster is applying for another job although he feels it above him, but all they can do is not acknowledge your application form ;) . Had a trip to the allotment and we have courgettes and cucumbers coming out our ears at the moment, but luckily I've managed to palm aload off to DD2 PA. I'm not quite at the stage of leaving random bags of produce of neighbours steps in the middle of the night but I'm not far off. Our polar bear pumpkins are massive and not something that can now be easily pinched, we've had to put them up onto boards to stop them rotting. Harvested my first pepper, we've always ended up buying the plants as we've had little success growing them from seed, I caressed it like it was some lovely puppy or chocolate or a fluffy kitten (maybe too much info). Tea is provided by the allotment.
Not alot going on MSE wise
    POSITIVES
    1) My sister has finally got a diagnosis on her mental health issue.
    2) The hubbster has had a good day
    3) Fresh produce.
