I'm catching up, CR - I'm going to go for premium bonds too, I used to have quite a few but I've got about £200 left
so I've plenty of room to get some more, ha.
2023: the year I get to buy a car4 -
Wow took me awhile to find me way back on page 5. We've been on holiday and then the hubbster took control of the computer as he has a job interview on Thursday and has spent the last couple of days jenning up on woodlands, flood prevention etc. The job is working for the next county over wildlife trust and is a 2 year contract and is very much up the hubbster's street. The shortish contract does bother me as we still haven't heard what is potentially happening with his current job, but the more he learns about how his role will change ( if not made redundant) fills him with dread as it will be mainly office base which will literally drive him round the twist. So we are taking a gamble as the new job's contract could be extended (he knows alot about applying for grants and what he doesn't know a friend does). Anyway what will be will be.
The holiday was ok, but its not an area I would want to return to, it was super busy (picture bank holiday numbers of people everyday) and they said that the local town was only a mile walk, what they didn't mention it was continously up the only hill in the goddamn county. We had a great day out at the local bird reserve, my dad and the hubbster was super happy as they saw spoonbill. Really enjoyed canoeing on the broads, DD2 in her element as its something she's really good at (no legs required) although the following day she was neither use nor ornament. We visited a couple of NT places which were worth visiting, although I didn't visit the last of the 2 as I had to wait for the AA to turn up as the car wouldn't start, £120 later it started first time and allowed us to get home a day early as I had a hospital appointment for a scan. Think we hit every single traffic jam, slow moving vehicle and rain storm that day so was super pleased to get home. The house was so cold we had to put the heating on......... in August.
Money wise I've moved the money the hubbster has earnt with his temp job and back pay from his (as and when) teaching job into a savings account so it doesn't get spent on day to day stuff, should cover a months mortgage if we need it to. Bought a preminum bond and TT £7.74 into ISA account. The cars had their winter tyres off finally just before we went away, the little car needed 2 new tyres and mine had a service as well which leaves me £470 lighter plus the £120 for a new battery (where is the screamin blue emoji when you need it.)
Been up to the allotment and harvested massive courgettes, toms, french beans, carrots, beetroot and other assortment of produce. Managed to make 3 lots of soup last night and pesto.
Shopping yesterday decided to shop for the month and hopefully just top up milk and bread from the local co-op. Sick of shopping and people not sticking to the guidelines. If its not in the cupboards etc will have to make do till the start of October. Although I think I'll have to take DD1 shopping before she goes to uni.
Listed a couple of items on Facebook so hoping they go, although they aren't going to make me a millionaire.
POSITIVES
1) Survived the holiday with extended family
2) The hubbster has an interview
3) Meeting a friend for a cuppa later.
Off to catch up with other people's diaries. Take care and stay safe everyone.

I'm glad that at least the holiday was "good enough", so to speak - always hit and miss, and these days, its even worse.Hope your scan went well, and hubster's job hunt.2023: the year I get to buy a car3

Thanks Karmacat and Hazelnutty.
Waiting for DD2 to get her butt in gear as she is my running buddy this morning, currently playing the give me 5 more minutes game which has so far lasted 20 minutes and it is now mizzling. Can hear her stirring and she is not going to be amused as she will not be happy she's got up and we won't be going. Sat watching lots of long tailed tits flitting in and out the garden, our water lilly is almost open which we're quite excited about as its first flower ever, we don't get out much!!!!!!! Need to vacate the house later whilst the hubbster has his zoom interview. Hope the weather improves otherwise we are in for a wet walk.
Made raspberry and almond cake yesterday as DD1 forgot to take the raspberries with her to mum's and they probably won't have last another day. I'm sure mum will want a piece when she drops off DD1 and picks up DD2 so she'll be getting the raspberries one way or another.
Had a great time at my friends last night (social distancing) spent the last hour saying I really should be going and getting pulled into another conversation or starting one myself. It was good to catch up and discuss our daughters plans for uni.
Looks like the mizzle is stopping so best get sorted and get out for a run. On my second week of runnning the second week of C25k again. Hips/shins are holding up so far.
Take care everyone

the raspberry cake sounds lovely, CR! They are definitely a top 3 fruit for me
Actually getting any in my house is another thing as DD is a chronic fridge-raider.
