:hello: Karmacat, greent, crumpets and squirrelgirl had a wonderful weekend away and no snow. We spent 2 glorious days at Leighton Moss RSPB reserve and we had fantastic views of otters eating eels/fish. We also saw bittern, water rail, and numerous other birds, DH was like a little boy in a sweet shop.DD1 gave us some money in our anninverary card to treat ourselves, so we had coffee and cake at the reserve. We spent a couple of hours walking at Gait Barrow Nature reserve and completed the yew tree trail and the limestone pavement trail. It was hard to believe that many of the small trees growing in the cracks in the limestone pavement are hundreds of years old. Feel refreshed and ready to face the rest of gloomy February.
Went to the dr's yesterday about my hip, she has decided to put me on some stronger painkillers as the over the counter stuff just isn't touching it. She is also sending me for an x-ray and physio. Had a really weird moment last night when doing my yoga, I could of sworn we were experiencing an earth tremor but it turns out its the medication (can make you feel wobbly when you start taking it ). So pleased I didn't shout DH that the house was moving could of been very embarrassing:rotfl: .Due to the hip I've decided to start swimming as that sort of exercise doesn't make my hip ache. Our council does a buy 10 swims for the price of 8 so signed up for that and turns out I had 7 swims left from the last time I did it (:shhh: over 5 years ago:whistle:) so I have 17 swims on my card:T. Apparently I can get a discount next time I go as long as I take my carers letter. Managed 20 lengths before I'd had it. Managed 10 days of healthy eating and exercise hoping to weigh less at the weekend:D.
Our boiler care insurance is due for renewal so currently looking at cancelling and moving to a better deal.
Well best get on with spring cleaning/de-cluttering the front room. We are at DD1 parents evening tonight.

  • So pleased you had a lovely time CR :D sounds like it was just what you needed!

The hip thing is a bit of a nightmare though :( hopefully the new meds and swimming will help - can't believe that they have rolled over your 7 swims from 5 years ago :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

DD2 off with sore throat and earache, mum coming over to look after her as we had a T/C last night to day DH grandma is very unwell and the doctor has said they can't do anymore other than make her comfortable. So he wants to go see her although she probably won't realise he's there. Very sad to see her this way as she was a woman who lived life to the full and played a major part in DH life. Hoping its soon as she really is very poorly and just want her to be in a better place and out of whatever pain she is in. However knowing her, she is pretty indestructable and could continue to hang on in there for some time. DH and I have always said her, my gran and cockroaches would be the only things to survive if a nuclear bomb went off. Talking about the death of a loved one has got me thinking about our own. We haven't made a will and that perhaps that is something we should look into this year. I Know at some point in the year the MSE email promotes Will month. I will use that time between know and then to subtlely mention it to DH and if he doesn't get the message I'll bash him over the head with it. Probably will end up been the latter:rotfl:.
Went to DD1 parents evening and every teacher gave her a glowing report:T. and is on course to get really good grades. So took her out for a meal to celebrate so the entertainment kitty took a bashing.
T/C to boiler service company (was going to be £172.61 and then £148.80 if I stayed) and they couldn't better the quote I'd been giving by another company (£120 for the year) so cancelled it. Just need to remember to sort it out near to the end of contract date (16/2/19) and it will save us £4 a month:j. DH car tax has arrived and needs to be paid at the end of the month. Plus my car needs a service and MOT:cool:
We had a email from our enery supplier and apparently we've saved the weight of a shire horse in CO2 in the last year and later according to their advert pink unicorns will reveal themselves to me:j:j.
Well best get ready to go. Hope you all have a good day and give your loved ones lots of hugs.

    This Month budget 25/1/19 - 25/2/19
    Petrol - £226.68/£350 (includes £80 bus money)
    Entertainment - £69.50 /£60:eek:
    Food -£294.94 / £440(includes £20 bulk buy and £20 school dinners)
    Misc £37.40 / £25:eek:
    Meds - £40.18 / £30 (includes £22 insurance.)
    Chritmas fund £100 saved.
Hmmmm so the recorded budget appears to be not the same as the one I have in my head or the one I thought was covering everything including unseen events. Even though I've only been doing this for the last month and a half it is showing me that I've not been so on the ball as I thought. So looking at the budget I can indentify several things that have increased the amount been spent. So misc has gone over by quite abit and we're not even half way throught the month. However its gone over for a good reason, its my swimming sessions, my health has become a major priority due to ongoing issues with mobility so not going to scrimp on this. So, this budget needs to be increased. Meds budget busted also, again this is because my dr has prescribed 2 lots of meds for pain relief not available over the counter and not sure how long I will be on this. So again this will have to be upped. Ok, entertainment this has gone over again but we need to enjoy life as well and we are not in debt. Justifying this in my head but will look at more once things have calmed down. Although these budgets need to increase to include essential items, I need to look to see if there is actual money to do this. But not right now.
DH took the afternoon off work and we went to see DH's gran. The dr had said she'd only got days maybe a week left, but when we got there she was sat up in a chair and looked suprisingly well. She however was very confused and couldn't speak very well at all. She got quite distressed at not been able to speak and her dementia is that advanced we didn't know childhood friends/ places she lived so made converstion very hard. In the end I just held and stroked her hand and she became calmer and fell asleep. We were only there 35 minutes, but DH felt alot better afterwards.
DD2 still off school so not alot happening today.
Hope today is a good day for you all and if not sending virtual hugs.
