Oooh - does it taste ok, Karma? (although am thinking turmeric with syrup/ honey also in the porridge would be fine.....)

That's exactly it, greent - I always put lots in my porridge anyway: ashwagandha in winter (which *doesn't* taste great, I have to say); linseed, sunflower seeds, mixed spice, peanut butter, and honey. I'm using up some old cornflakes at the mo, and they're going in as well :rotfl: anything bulky that I eat is going to be eaten before the kitchen gets done, and not replaced till afterwards.

    :hello:
Hi karmacat my dad's wife swears by turmeric, she has it in warm milk and honey. All I'm going to say is when I tried it it reappeared all over the bathroom. However, you've (:A) prompted me to look at alternatives and have found it in capsule form so will call at H and B tomorrow and will give it a try.If it works I'll come clean your wand (fairy godmother).
Oops :rotfl: I have it in savoury dishes already, so I know I'm okay with it. Only using it in the porridge because I have so much!

I've worked out that we are spending more on me been healthy but after the past couple of months and ongoing issues I've decided I'm worth it. The daft thing is that I was making sure the rest of them were eating healthy but forgoing myself due to the expense. No more, (gets down of soap box and puts it away for later).
Absolutely - being moneysaving is all very well, but if you skimp on healthy food, it can take years to recover.

Been to see the doctor again today (3 time in the last week, you can only discuss 1 issue per appointment:mad:) for another ongoing issue, I'm so glad the NHS is free. I've certainly used it plenty in the last couple of weeks. Having to make another appointment to discuss results. Results are back from smear test and going to mention it here as some women may feel worried about their results and that can effect us mentally and physically. So the good news is I don't have cancer:j the bad news is that I have this HPV so have to go again in a year:o. Intailly I sobbed my heart out due to ignorance but after looking on reputable sites things look brighter. So if any of you or somebody you know gets similar results give them a shoulder to cry on and suggest they speak to their GP or check out the nhs site. HPV doesn't nessecarliy mean you will develop cancer.
So sorry you've been through this, CR, but very glad to hear your clear diagnosis and your determination to research and then use the results of that research. Very powerful. And all the more reason for working on your health. It's worth every extra penny on the food bill.

Hi CR, sorry to hear about all the health issues and pain you've been having, from my own experience I know its very wearing and also frustrating if it limits you physically.

I was just reading an article this morning on the BBC website about HPV and how misunderstood it is and also how common. I must admit that I wasn't aware of some of the info. In case you are interested heres the link https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-47211262

Am also a fan of dates but have to say I like them best in sticky toffee pudding though I realise thats not the most healthy version :rotfl:
  • Hope all the health issues get sorted! Part of my plan this year was to start on some self-care but I haven't done anything about it yet....:o the additional money you are spending on your healthy diet is definitely not wasted - if you're not at the top of your game, it makes it so much harder to plough through the things you need to do to get where you want to be so don't for a second think it's not worth it!

I'm starting my self-care stuff on March 1st - I've got a couple of birthdays coming up and a number of other things to finish getting sorted before I can turn my concentration to where it needs to be - I'll be cheering you on until then and joining you in March! ;)
  • :hello: Karmacat, teapot and squirrelgirl Thank you so much for posting made me feel alot better and teapot thanks for the website.
Went swimming again yesterday and had planned to go into town but dad rang and asked to come over. He'd come over as I'd mentioned to him that I had spoke to my FIL, about had they thought about asking his mum is she would like someone to pray with or for her. She is very frightened of what is happening to her. Some how I've ended up been the one to do it and to be honest i\'m not sure how I feel about this. Anyway my dad who is very religious decided to bring me his religious book so I will know what to say when we go visit on Sunday.
DD1 has gone to Paris on her late birthday treat with her grandparents. So DD2, mum and I are going to have a girly afternoon and night. Table booked for cake:j. DH was going out on a leaving do tonight however he is full of cold so he will have to be banished upstair. Not that he will mind.
Appointment made for physio (4 wks) so will continue with exercise and healthy eating (hmmm cake this afternoon not included:rotfl:). Big weigh in at the weekend.
    Hope you enjoy the sunshine

CR, glad you feel a bit better. And enjoy the cake tonight :):):)
The religious thing sounds a bit much if you're not into it yourself - a minister or someone will come along, I guarantee, though maybe not this weekend. Don't force yourself into anything :kisses3:

Thanks Karmacat I've resided myself to the fact that I will go ahead and do it as she means such alot to DH and I.
Had a great day yesterday with DD2 and mum with our girlie afternoon out and home spa. Will definately be doing it again but will probably make our face masks as the ones we used smelled heavily of artifical scents. We did use cucumbers for our eyes and been the frugal person that I'm trying to be I ate mine afterwards. Watched a couple of films although the first one was a disaster as it stopped playing half way through, so hopefully I will get my money back on Monday.
DD1 arrived in Paris ok and we've been conversing in french via text (cheating by using a translating app). She is off to see the traditional tourist sites, but what she really wants to do is to have the opportunity to visit a proper patisserie, sit outside and drink coffee, read her book whilst eating croissants. The simple pleasures.
TT of 78p. Noticed that when i don't post on here everyday I forget to TT need to improve on this. Still waiting for mortgage to go through.
Not alot done today been swimming, completed yoga and then fell asleep for a couple of hours. Need to start on the soup and stew we are going to take with us tomorrow when we go out to see DH grandma. We are planning on meeting up with my dad first at a bird reserve. DH is still ill and DD2 is champing at the bit to get out so best go and get her electric chair out and go for a walk with her and the dog.

  • Met up with dad at the bird reserve, but I didn't see many as DD2 was more interested in whizzing about in her chair. Managed to convince DH that he didn't need cake to go with his coffee especially as they were having fish and chips for tea. He is due for his body MOT in the next coupe of months and last time his chloestrol was high and was given a couple of months to get it under control, which he did. However, we'll see what it is this time. We visited DH grandma who is doesn't have long left, its hard to write dying but I suppose that is what is happening. She was heavily medicated up so was drifting in and out of sleep the entire time we were there. I said 2 small prayers for her, hope I didn't let her down.
Tea was fish and chips but I had stew from my flask as I'm trying to be more healthy :rotfl: (cake twice this week).

Hope your day has been full of joy

  • Sorted new boiler care contract and was alot cheaper than orginal company. We should also get cashback as we've paid for it annually instead of monthly, work out at £10 a month for the next year. Will need to remember to cash that in, in the next couple of weeks.
Washing is drying outside again loving this warmer days.
