Great news about the mortgage :)

I don't think misspent youth exists anymore - not in the normal, they-grow-out-of-it way that we experienced (the alternative is gangs and knives, but that's a lot more than misspent!) - there's so much pressure to do well academically - both from the schools and the children themselves, it's sad (I see it with the young leaders at Brownies). Well done for making DD1 stop and relax - if only the school's suggested this sometimes!

  • The battle of wills didn't happen as DH said he'd thought about it and agreed with me. Although I was really pleased, I was also slightly annoyed too as I'd spent the day researching how much the additional money would cost us in interest over the current term and you all know maths is not my strong point:rotfl:.
DH grandma's funeral was on Friday and we had a really enjoyable day celebrating her life and catching up with extended family members. It was hard to believe throughout the day that we were all gathered for a funeral as there was lots of laughter and reminiscing about what a character she was. She really was the heart and soul of her family. She will be greatly missed.
Had fantastic news yesterday DD1 does not have the same condition or is a carrier of the same condition that DH and DD2 has so the future looks bright and rosy for her. I'm so relieved. My gut instinct told me she hadn't got it as physically she looks like a mini me where as DD2 is very much like her dad. However its nice to get it confirmed.
With all that out the way time to focus on the next up and coming issue......... DD2. Today we are taking her to her new school to meet her new teacher etc and she will moving there after the easter holidays cue drama:eek: I suspect:rotfl:. I will cross that rickty, rusty unstable bridge when it comes to it.
Bourght sweet peppers, chilli peppers and aubergine plants yesterday as I find these very hard to grow from scratch, need potting up today.
Off to bask in the glow of relief for abit longer as nothing MSE to report.

  • Visit to school went fairly well except for a small accident at the end. DD2 was so embarressed and angry which led to a mega meltdown at home (rather home than new school), no amount of reassurance that it didn't matter and we had sorted it would placate her. In the end after a bath and fresh clothes she fell asleep and didn't wake up until this morning. Was expecting her to wake me in the night as she had, had no tea etc, but she slept solid for 14 hours. Anyway today was a better day and another meeting has been organised for next week. Looking at her intially going part time to help her adjust to a new routine. We are hoping that she will feel less tired and be able to cope with life more. Fingers crossed.
DH has been to pay (mates rates) for the flat and pick up the keys from his friend tonight. We've invited his parents to come with us at the weekend as they are ready for a break. We are off to the east coast. We are all looking forward to walking on the beach and the girls are looking forward to fresh doughnuts.DD2 tells me she is looking forward to whizzing up and down the parks and the promanade. I'm looking forward to a FIL cooked veggie breakfast mmmmmmmm.
Been busy in the garage today sowing lots of seeds for the allotment, so far I've sown kale, 3 different squashes, sunflowers, courgettes, leeks, potted on 3 different types of sweet peppers, chilli peppers and aubergines. All the tomato seedlings are through. Ran out of seed labels , so in order to save money and cut down on buying plastic labels, I cut up more empty butter tubs and some old brown plant pots instead. Other than that not alot else going on, so off to make tea.

Poor DD2! She really exhausted herself emotionally :( (and yes, I can perfectly understand you'd rather that happened at home than at school!).

And you have a beach weekend! Lurvely. And fresh doughnuts at the seaside. Nothing better! Have a great time.
