Morning all,
Thinking of Foxgloves and all the stress she must be going through :grouphug:
PF, does the avocado defrost ok to be eaten or is it only good for smoothes?
I was already feeling low at the beginning of the week then we had a letter from our gp saying he's retiring and we need to find another surgery (I'm not good with change and going places new sets off anxiety so I've been putting it off) When I eventually got out of bed (another sign that I'm low) I've quickly gone through the list the health board have sent us, googled where the nearest one is, looked at the nhs website, emailed dh with what I found, rung them, been given a date in September when we can call up and register. So daft, less then 10 minutes and my anxiety in lessening as I type! (will increase again when we actually have to go and register but I'm hoping it will settle til then and not pry on my mind)
So on to todays listSwitch dss alarm clock off at the wall to save on the electicity - it quickly resets once switched on again Done
Fill in the forms ready to take the the new surgery next month
B/L/D from stores - ys bread for breakfast Done/ Frickadellen omelette for lunch that I made yesterday / leftover chicken casserole I also made yesterday for tea with fruit/overnight oats for snacks/dessert -
Get paperwork together for one of dh's pensions, this has turned into a frog - been on the list all week I WILL DO THIS TODAY!
Another job I've not got sorted is making sure that ds1 has all the stationary stuff he needs for school - will do this today so we don't have to rush to get it before they start back to school and spend a fortune!
Check banking/update spreadsheet
General tidy round for as long as the kids are happily playing
Kids have asked for another day at home (they had an amazon delivery yesterday with a game they'd ordered using birthday money but it came too late to actually play it so I suspect that it why they don't want to go anywhere. I'm hoping my dad might call in on his way back from the gym, if he does I will pop out to the shop if not I'll think again.
Hopefully I'll be adding more as the day goes on
Sticking with the "Small things" thread to keep up us on the straight and narrow.

Read what to do with my raspberry canes now they have come to an end
OK, I can help with this one:
There are 2 types of raspberries, Autumn and Summer fruiting, and you treat them slightly differently. If yours have finished, I should imagine they are the summer kind. What you need to do is to cut down to the ground the old canes (ie the ones that had raspberries on) and tie up the new young canes to their supports as they will be the ones having raspberries next year
If you have the Autumn kind (which is unlikely, as that is what I have and they are a long way off finished), then you simply cut the whole lot down to the ground, as they fruit on canes that appear in the Spring of the same year.
If you aren't sure but know the variety of your plants, you can google to see which type they are, ie autumn or summer

Afternoon all
Got back from holiday yesterday with a mountain of washing, a wet gazebo, no bread, milk and various other things in the house, and the garden crying out for attention
Got the following done so far:
Picked raspberries, blueberries, tomatoes and French beans. Also 2 huge courgettes / marrows that hadn't even appeared when we went away on Monday morning  One of the huge courgette plants had broken off, sadly,so I pulled this out, broke it up (it was literally like a tree!) and put it on the composter.
Watered the beans
Load of washing and dried outside, got it in about an hour ago just before it started to pour with rain
Dried tent overnight, folded up and put back in camper van (our camper is small, so we take along a sturdy camping shelter / gazebo for storage / somewhere to sit in the rain that isn't in the van. We only bother to put this up if we are going to be in the same place for a few days, but definitely worth it if this is the case)
Shopping - local butcher for this month's special offer meat pack (£25 for mince, rump steaks, chicken breasts, diced chicken, diced beef, pork steaks, their own home made beef burgers and sausages, plus a pack of bacon, I think that is everything! Anyway, loads of meals there!) Sainsbugs for everything else. Used a 3 x Nectar points coupon.
Went to sales unit to tidy up, must restock next week.
Got a pot of bolognese on the go, using the mince from the butcher's meat pack plus various veg. Used some of this to stuff one of the huge courgettes, which I baked in the oven for dinner - it was very nice, too
Had a nice surprise this morning, received a cheque for £150 from an old insurance policy that finished years ago. Apparently this money should have been paid in 2007. It was a lovely surprise anyway, as I had totally forgotten about the policy, and had no idea there was money to be paid from it after all this time! Paid it into my ISA.
Had a bit of a shock yesterday though, 8 year old GD3 fell and broke her arm while we were visiting (called in on the way back from our holiday)DD took her to the hospital, but it is a small one without a radiographer present all the time - the doctor didn't think she had broken it, as it hadn't swollen much and she had a fair amount of movement of her arm, so strapped it up and said to go back this morning first thing when the radiographer was there, to make sure. Turns out it was broken and now all plastered up
Unfortunate as she is back to school in a week's time, but at least it didn't happen while on their recent overseas holiday, and she will enjoy all the attention no doubt!
OH has just cleaned the bathroom (!) and apparently used 'some squirty stuff' to wash the floor, so I think I had better go and investigate :rotfl::eek: It was the bathroom cleaner spray for cleaning the bath etc - I wouldn't have used it on the floor, but it did a good job, anyway!
Watered all the back garden pots (pots still need watering in summer even if it rains)
Updated spending diary / spreadsheet after being away (kept all receipts). Managed 2 NSDs while away :rotfl:We took most of our food with us, and spent most of the time sightseeing and walking, camp site was already paid for
Sent DD2 some money for GD's school uniform, and the same to DS. DD1 had hers last month. I do this frugal stuff just so that I can help them out :heart2:

Afternoon everyone
Sending virtual hugs over to Foxgloves and wishing there was more we could do
Apologies for falling off the MSE bandwaggon recently, have just updated my signature with a new higher debt :-( The extra is from needed house related spends and all planned for. Will be paid off shortly, most is from OH and he is due overtime payment next week (fingers crossed).
However, I don't want to start down a slippery slope and am planning to get a hold of this debt so plans for the next few days are;- Update signature
- Triage cupboards / freezer etc
- Update spreadsheets
- Tonights meal from stores
- Shopping tomorrow - plan healthy low cost meals and look for vouchers etc beforehand:money:
- Look at cashback sites and other survey sites as currently only use swagbucks (£15 amazon voucher just paid out)
- Washing on at 30
- Get washing line installed ASAP
- Sign up for a couple more overtime shifts, just got £98 for my last one
- Stop having coffee at the gym
- Get quotes for car insurance renewal due in September
That should keep me busy for a few days
E xxTotal debts £6471.03 / £6261 all currently on 0% interest

Hi everyone
Hope it's not too late to join! I used to come on these threads a few years ago. A lot has changed since!
I've now got a 21 month old son, have split from my partner and now live on my own with my son.
I have also managed to rack up over £2K in debt since January this year! So I gave myself a kick up the backside and decided I should come back on here.
So today I have:
- Stuck to my meal plan so far
- Packed lunch at work
Still to do:
- Resist getting a takeaway tonight!
- Prep L/D for tomorrow
- Get washing in that I've been trying to dry for 3 days, looks like that will be going in the dryer
- Check FPL

Hey all
The mad spending continues - another £340 at the solicitors this morningI am trying to just accept that it is what it is, and I will tackle the debt once it is finished. It does make me want to cry though as I worked so hard to get out of debt and I'm going to be in large debt again quite soon.
On top of that £200 at the vet - not naughty tortie for a change, but this time my tuxedo cat. Looks like she may have arthritis bless her - but she actually is insured - just need to cross everything that they actually pay out this time.
Hairdresser for all 3 of us this afternoon, so another chunk of cash. Ah well...
Not being very mse at the moment am I?
1LL - totally can relate to you anxieties, I could have written that myself if I were in your situation. When I got into work yesterday I didn't know the results, but had been up most of the night anxious about it - without any need to be at all.Not giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt
Time to take back control

1LL they stay green as anything, even when I left it in the fridge for an hour or so as I didn't end up eating it until lunch. Note sure I'd bother with fresh again. These are excellent and always ripe, not rock hard, rock hard ...oh hang on.... over ripe like ones I buy from the shop :rotfl:
Dawn thanks for the note on raspberries- I went back to my order and they are autumn ones, so maybe I just need to give them some more time to grown some more and I was being a bit keen. They're not doing me any harm so will leave a few weeks and see if they bring anymore fruit.
I can't totally relate to those with anxiety, it has got worse in recent years and sometimes it's quite all consuming. I wish I knew how to fend it off, I guess being aware is at least a start.0 -
Managed all of my list apart from ordering the sofa (have whittled it down to two and I'm being indecisive :rotfl:) and finding box of clothes.
Charity shop were most grateful for donations, will look at some more things that aren't selling on fleabay. I don't know why I've let some of it sit on the spare room for a year.
Pleased with what I achieved today and progress definitely made.0 -
Hi August-Austerees,
Morning!:coffee: Work today so stress ahead but then it's my weekend. It's pay day on Tue which is good because I have just £1.89 left after everything is put aside for bills! Managed to book time off in September.
