County court letter
Hollers
So I followed advise from friends/Facebook(of all places) to ignore letters from parking tickets(photos) on private land while our company were doing some building work on a house. I've been receiving notices and final warning letters for probably a year or so.
I've today received a county court letter telling me to pay £435 . I'm still not sure where i stand as I'm still seeing posts and even YouTube videos saying ignore it.
I've searched post after post on here and read through the sticky hundreds of times and can make no sense of it whatsoever .
Where do i stand? Have I let it run to far?

depends what the court letter was
is it an LBC ? (from a parking company or a solicitors) ?
or an MCOL from Northampton ?
or a CCJ after an actual court case has concluded ?
and name the parking company too
post #2 of the NEWBIES sticky thread deals with all 3 of those issues0 -
When were those posts from? 2011? 2015? 2018?
Are they from here or pepipoo, the two best resources on the internet, or from a random no idea facebook group?
You need to be PRECISE in telling us what you have. We cannot guess.0 -
Sorry for the vague details, this is my first post and I'm a bit stressed and panicking because of it all if I'm honest.
The parking company are cpm which were followed up by countless letters from Gladstones and then on to drp debt recovery and now the most recent letter from northampton.0 -
I only really googled it to start with so was getting mixed advise. It's only the last few days I've come across this forum and only just registered0

I registered on mcol and it's on there so I assume it's legit?0

'the letter from Northampton' needs some expansion.
Are you saying that you have now received a Claim Form from the County Court Business Centre in Northampton?
If so, what is the date of issue on the Claim Form?0 -
That's it yes. Dated 14/80

As Redx has said, you need to read post #2 of the NEWBIES FAQ sticky thread for the guidance on how to deal with it.
Hint: the first thing to do is the Acknowledgement of Service and you will find a dropbox file linked from that post telling you exactly how to do that.
You have until 2nd September to do the AoS, but there is nothing to be gained by delaying.0 -
I actually did that about 20 minutes ago but at least I know I've done something right. So my next step is to draft up my reasons? This is the thing, all of the examples seem to have legitimate reasons ie. Unlit signage etc.
Where do I stand? Other than private land(it's a new estate that the residents decided they didn't want people parking on the street though they only have space for one car on a drive)0 -
This is an entirely unregulated industry which is scamming the public with inflated claims for minor breaches of contracts for alleged parking offences, aided and abetted by a handful of low-rent solicitors.
Parking Eye, CPM, Smart, and another company have already been named and shamed, as has Gladstones Solicitors, and BW Legal, (these two law firms take hundreds of these cases to court each year). They lose most of them, and have been reported to the regulatory authority by an M.P. for unprofessional conduct
Hospital car parks and residential complex tickets have been especially mentioned.
The problem has become so rampant that MPs have agreed to enact a Bill to regulate these scammers. Watch the video of the Second Reading in the House of Commons recently

and complain in the most robust terms to your MP. With a fair wind they will be out of business by Christmas. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0
