Does anyone know if their exit fees apply for an internal switch of tariff?
Probably. Assuming the current Ts & Cs are the same as when you joined, 7.4 states "If You leave Us before the end of Your Contract or move onto another available tariff You may be liable to pay an exit fee.".

    Hi

Does anyone know if their exit fees apply for an internal switch of tariff?

    Many thanks

See my post #105 and post #125. If you are moving to another of their tariffs and not moving away I think they waive the exit fee.
  • Thanks for the comments guys. The reason I've raised the question is that I've used the internal switch before with other companies. If I wanted to leave early I can switch to a fee free tariff (obviously taking a bit of a hit price wise) and then switch to the new supplier. Looks like I will need to clarify with YE before joining.

    Cheers
  • I contacted YE and they confirmed exit fees do apply for internal tariff switches.

Did they indicate when they would be updating their website, as that currently says:
Existing customer wanting to change tariff?

If you currently have a tariff with us and are wanting to switch to our current live tariff, please give us a call on 0113 451 0700 in order to action as we are unable to process this change on email or via your online portal. We know that this isn't ideal but as the market changes frequently, so do our tariffs.
    Some things to consider:
    • You may have an exit fee on your current tariff, or the new tariff that you wish to switch to could have an exit fee. Please check your bill to confirm this before requesting the change.
    • Tariffs are subject to change and although an alternative cheaper tariff may be printed on your bill we can't guarantee that this will be available when you call to action the change.
    • Please do not re-sign up on our web page if you wish to change your current tariff as this will not be completed and your Tariff will not be changed.

That's rather disappointing as they told me there wasn't an exit fee charged if you are staying with them and were simply changing tariff (admittedly that was a few months ago.)

    Hi all,

Interesting thread, i'm curious though, how comes there isn't a similar website where it will list who your electricity supplier is? That site just shows you who to call if emergency, doesn't show you who your electricity supplier is & meter info?

    Thanks

    Kev

There is. Your Distribution Network Operator's website will probably tell you.

Thanks, it only shows UK Power Networks, it doesn't show me who my electricity company is i.e EDF, BG etc like the Gas one does.

    Thanks
