Thanks, most useful.
I spoke to Yorkshire Energy again - very frustrating conversation.
They do have my MPAN.
They might or might not have my serial number together with unspecified "other meter details", but they are refusing to accept anything provided by me. Unclear what exactly is missing.
Their operational team cannot be contacted or spoken to.
There is no manager available to talk to.
They are refusing to talk directly to my previous supplier (I offered to get everyone together on the phone to sort this out together … how naive of me!)
Other than "we received your complaint" a few weeks ago there has been ZERO communication from Yorkshire Energy.0 -

If it hasn't, it may be a case of 'Computer Says No' and the YE staff have parked it as 'Too Difficult' because they don't understand the problem, don't know what to, or haven't got the time to investigate properly.0 -
Might be worth checking who your supplier really is, just in case the switch hasn't gone through.

https://www.findmysupplier.energy/webapp/index.html
Surprisingly, it shows just 6 addresses,....and my address isn’t listed!
There are actually 24 houses that share my post-code;....so, 18 missing addresses and I know for a fact that they all have a gas supply.
I don’t really know what to make of that.
The information on that website is supplied by ‘Xoserve’;...Xoserve is the Central Data Service Provider (CDSP) for Great Britain's gas market. I could be wrong but I think they are also the mob who verify the Gas meter readings when customers switch energy suppliers.
https://www.xoserve.com/about-us/what-we-do/
Xoserve’s website says this: “Our central register holds information on all premises with a gas supply.”
They don’t appear hold any info for my house though. :doh:0 -
Update to my post #164;...I’ve just emailed Xoserve support desk. I’ve given them every detail they could possibly need regarding my gas supply and asked them to update their system.
They’ll probably just tell me to sod off,...but I’m interested to see what happens.0 -

Are you perchance, supplied by an independent gas transporter? Wonder if that has something to do with it? I know that the XOSERVE data base works because I've used it on my last few switches to check when the switch is complete, but I'm supplied by Wales and West Utilities.0 -

I’ve just had a brainwave (it’s not often that happens);...I do recollect from the dim and distant past that when I had my now defunct smart meters fitted by Br.Gas many moons ago they had an admin problem with my post-code.
The post-code for my road was changed about 20 years ago,...still no idea why Royal Mail changed it,... but they did, much to everyone’s great annoyance.
I’ve just entered my address into Xoserves ‘Find My Supplier’ website but used my old, defunct, post-code.
https://www.findmysupplier.energy/webapp/index.html#/searchSuccess
Lo and behold my address comes up immediately!,...along with 18 other addresses in my road.
I can then click my house number to see that it correctly lists my gas supplier as Avro, and Cadent as the gas transporter.
That probably explains why there have been recurring admin problems (specifically on the gas side of things) during a number of my switches in the past.
In my case, Xoserve’s data base is using erroneous address info that is at least 20 years out of date.
I feel another email to Xoserve coming on.0 -
BRILLIANT! I switched on 9 September and it is the ONLY switch to a new supplier that has gone smoothly and according to plan.0

Read this thread - I think someone posted they waive the fee for existing customers changing tariff.0
