All the people you mention could have started universities. They were fundamentally dedicated to a field of learning in which they excelled, and were geniuses by most measures.
What you think they have in common with the Brexit movement evades me.0 -
Brexiters aren't as desperate as remainers to try and prove a point which in reality can't be made, because nobody can see into the future.
But since you're harping on, here's a recent report from MoneyWeek:
This bit made me laugh though.About 16% of the UK economy is accounted for by imports and exports, and about half that trade is with Europe. So roughly 8% of the economy will feel some impact, but the other 92% won’t really notice any difference at all whatever happens over Brexit.
By the way, any extra NHS funding will come out of general taxation, not out of any 'brexit dividend' that already has been shown to be another brexiteer illusion.0 -
I think I know what the moaners are being so ..... moany.;)
"Andrea Leadsom: 'No deal' is Brexit default position"Andrea Leadsom has told colleagues no deal is the "legal default position" if the UK leaves the EU in March without a deal in place.
If you combine that with Daniel Hannan blaming remainers for "opening the door to a no-deal Brexit" in The Telegraph today there's no wonder there's so much grumbling from those seeing the EU's influence further decrease in the UK. They are slowly beginning to realise what many have said for a while now.
The reason a WTO Brexit now looks like the most likely outcome is the fault of those that say they least wanted that, namely the remainers! That as far as I am concerned is karma in true EU shot-yourself-in-the-foot style.
Thank you all.0 -

It already happens & it is not because of Brexit.
The checks on those travelling from NI have been happening for years as anybody travelling between NI & the mainland UK knows only too well. The linked quote in the post clearly says so. But go ahead & ignore that making yourself look daft, though comparing a sea to the Darford Tunnel was a great funny start. I get the impression you didn't mean it to be so funny though, but it is.
You are armed with about as many facts on this matter as a blind 19th Century coal miner attempting to fix a superconductor experiment with a blunt pick axe.
A hard border between NI and the mainland, not just for people but for goods (try and understand for a moment that not all the traffic over the sea involves purchasing a ferry ticket) will effectively create two countries. It's as viable as separating Essex from London. It will not work unless NI becomes a third country between Eire and the UK, or - what would make much more sense now, just unifies with the rest of Ireland. The Northern Irish don't want Brexit either, which is another thing they don't have in common with you.0 -

Are they checking VISA requirements, etc on the NI crossing, with appropriate database updating, or is it an ID check only?
Like, is it the equivalent of flying from London to Manchester, or London to Paris?0 -

I thought one of the bigger concerns was illegals? Who can come in as a tourist and stay. To claim benefits and steal jobs?0 -

You're quibbling about what already exists and then trying to score points with fellow remainers, nothing more. Trying to tell me I have poor understanding when you have to resort to sneering criticism with no alternative facts of your own is the usual tactic of somebody with no real answer.
So again, just for you, people are already checked on crossings. This does not mean it is a border, it is immigration checks. These happen on the mainland too you know.

The NI 'gotcha'. EU thought that by holding NI to ransom they'd force us into a BINO. Forgetting they may force the opposite choice - WTO. A real double-edged gotcha there!0
