I agree with you and will continue to argue Brexit is a very big mistake.

That said if one believes the analysis of the stereotypes who voted for it the majority of those who voted for it will be the ones who suffer these consequences. Sure some relatively wealthy people who voted Leave (like BoJo and Farage) and some moderately wealthy pensioners will also benefit, but its those in working class areas who thought that Brexit would solve all their problems be it poverty, immigration or the NHS who will really suffer the consequences.

The Leave campaign just told people what was wrong with their lives and offered Brexit as the generic solution to it. May has tried to moderate the impact and made herself unpopular, but she still does not understand her destiny is to be remembered as the PM that was only following orders not showing leadership

All I hear is, project fear repeating itself when I read your posts. All you're doing is regurgitating the same old rubbish over and over. It didn't happen when your lot predicate it would after a vote to leave and it aint going to happen in the future..

The only people that will suffer are those that continue to sulk because they lost the vote. Instead of getting on, remoaners try their hardest to infect the larger population with their misery....

I thought they tried to take over a couple of weeks ago and failed.

It's only taken the 2.5 years to try?

Where have the suggestions been in the mean time? All I ever remember seeing is Leavers hiding and sniping from the shadows.

They were told that Brexit would be led by a Remainer government?

They had the opportunity to elect a different Government. How well did UKIP do in the 2017 GE?

How well did LibDem do, more appropriately?

All you Brexit dissidents had the chance to vote them into power on their anti-Brexit ticket, and you all *bottled* it.

True but I was addressing buglawton's question. If people wanted to ensure Brexit was implemented by a Leaver Government in 2017 they had their chance.

Its funny how anyone who does not get behind the Brexit cause is characterised by terms like "dissident". People are entitled to their opinions in our society.
Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.

The fundamental point which is missed in the debate is the EU is the only club in town if you're a country in Europe.

At the time of the 1975 referendum, that wasn't the case. Austria, Sweden etc were in EFTA, not the EEC and there were several countries neither in EFTA nor the EEC.

Today, apart from some politically and economically insignificant countries (and Switzerland, which has a bespoke deal), everyone in Europe is in the EU. The UK can either be in the EU (and be able to influence it) or on the edge of it. I don't understand why anyone would favour the latter.

Yes they are, but there is always a role for timing to play in all of this.

I found the 2017 GE to be disingenuous, focussing on relatively trivial inter-party bickering.

I'm glad this Brexit affair has arisen. It has shown everyone just how inept the shower in Westminster really are.

Just because you do not like my opinion does not mean that I am not allowed to state it. Even if you describe it with juvenile labels like "rubbish" rather than adult debate.

I hope that you are correct and UK goes from strength to strength under WTO terms. The problem is that businesses small and large do not agree with you. Fortunately I will still have an EU passport if we leave.

Please can we have a little more honesty for the new year...

A splendid suggestion, and it’s good that you’ve finally realised this. Now, when are the leavers going to start? :)

I do apologies if you believe I've stated that you're not allowed an opinion, I admit I completely disagree with your opinion but never would I say you're not allowed to express it...

Do you believe as I do that because most MPs hugely regret the outcome of the referendum and although they reluctantly helped trigger A50 for the most they've done everything possible to scupper the Government. The SNP and LDs have flatly refused to accept the result. Most Labour MPs are doing everything possible to reverse the result along with a handful of Tories.

Can you imagine if all MPs would have backed the government and honoured the referendum how much stronger as a country our negotiating position would have been.. The EU have completely walked all over our negotiator's because they have exploited the massive divisions in our parliament...

Same thing would have happened then I don't know if you noticed but leave supporters are a minority in Parliament.

And even though they're in a minority I have seen them on TV for almost two years now putting forward sensible options..

Again, its just twisting the truth to suggest otherwise...
