Huge lead in the polls for Remain as support for Brexit collapses

The EU IS an awful idea that created economic chaos and separated us from our most important trading partners.
You took (most) of the words out of my mouth.
For the first part of our membership I actually thought the EU was fairly benign.
Member states were of similar capability.
But the last 20 years has seen too much political ambition IMO.
The Euro introduction in the same time frame as EU expansion was simply too much.
Merkel's disastrous refugee decision has exposed the rifts between states when it comes to true movement of people.
I give the project 10 years before it is either fundamentally altered or it collapses in bitter acrimony.
Meanwhile, China and the USA will sit back and laugh.0 -
Because it's an awful idea that will create economic chaos, separate us from our most important trading partners, and trash our exchange rate so it will cost a week's salary to import a pineapple.0

Exactly like in the 1970s that you are all so fond of.
I agree with you and will continue to argue Brexit is a very big mistake.
That said if one believes the analysis of the stereotypes who voted for it the majority of those who voted for it will be the ones who suffer these consequences. Sure some relatively wealthy people who voted Leave (like BoJo and Farage) and some moderately wealthy pensioners will also benefit, but its those in working class areas who thought that Brexit would solve all their problems be it poverty, immigration or the NHS who will really suffer the consequences.
The Leave campaign just told people what was wrong with their lives and offered Brexit as the generic solution to it. May has tried to moderate the impact and made herself unpopular, but she still does not understand her destiny is to be remembered as the PM that was only following orders not showing leadershipFew people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.0 -
They were told that Brexit would be led by a Remainer government?
They had the opportunity to elect a different Government. How well did UKIP do in the 2017 GE?Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.0 -
