The electorate doesn’t care what the markets or the establishment think. Trump and Brexit happened. No reason why Corbyn won’t.0 -

Unsure what relevance Trump is to a UK based discussion. Trump's policies initially have been positive for the US economy though. A somewhat different situation to Labour under Corbyn given their manifesto pledges. Rather insulting to assume that many of the electorate aren't fully aware of what would be on the way. As merely a rerun of old style Labour some time back. Given the UK's not insubstantial borrowing requirements markets are going to have an influence on peoples opinions. As will become a focal point of debate.0 -
Nothing to do with Brexiteers.
We elect politicians in the expectation that they will deliver what they have promised.
That's it really. If they are useless we only find out after the event.
And THEN we can at the next election decide who to vote for.
Talking of which there is talk I see of Merkel's party facing ANOTHER drubbing in Hesse this weekend. Some (including Merkel's probable successor) are saying that this weekend's election will lead to the collapse of Merkel's coalition and to new German elections.
That's what happens in Germany too when it turns out your elected politicians are indeed useless.0 -

The relevance is simply that politics is increasingly polarised and people are no longer afraid to make anti-establishment choices especially when there isn't really a safe centre ground option. The odds are currently level for the next election, but the more the Tories screw up Brexit, the more chance Corbyn has.
The markets warned of disaster if we voted Brexit yet we still did. Why should they listen to warnings about Corbyn?0 -

How so? I don't see it.
This is meant to be a debate and not about point scoring anyway.0
