No, seems like you're ignoring what I originally said. Show me where any of these statements where made during the referendum campaign , that link you posted is from 2015...

They don’t really have one either, but I imagine they would find it easier to come to a compromise as they don’t have the number of backbench loons that the Tories do.

No one of any quality is currently a shadow minister though. JC has gone through them all. No one will serve for him. The party is influenced by Momemtum. Dark days are on the horizon. As Labour return to their old unelectable state.

I quite agree. The only thing that might get them elected is the equally shambolic nature of the Tories!

I predict a Corbyn government followed by the reaction to it, which will basically be our version of Trump. Rees Mogg probably fits the bill.

A customs union more or less insists we can't make our own deals. That's just how they work.
We might be allowed to form our own deals if and only if none of them violate the EUs terms, and even then you'd still have rules of origin to deal with to avoid someone avoid EU tariffs by importing via UK.
That's not true though, is it?

The only non-EU country which currently has in place a customs union with the EU is Turkey. Well unless you want to count those behemoths Andorra and San Marino.
Can Turkey not make their own deals?
That'll be news to Erdogan & co.

You really need to get your facts straight before making wild claims. You might like to correct your misconception by reading https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_Union%E2%80%93Turkey_Customs_Union

The EU and Turkey are in negotiations for amending the customs union agreement to add Turkey to the EU's present and future FTAs.

It does seem that - like the President of the European Parliament, Antonio Tajani recently - those with a pro-EU bent like to reimagine history and make new facts for themselves.

Turkey is an accession country. It wants to be part of the EU, to use the euro, and to be part of the single market.

The UK wants to leave the EU, not be part of the euro and not be part of the single market, but still wants access to everything it had when a member.

Brexiteers once more choosing whether the EU is a vengeful behemoth crushing national difference, or a rules based entity treating everyone under a common jurisprudence, to suit whatever it is they think they are trying to prove at the time.

Well, you're about to find out, because after two years of wrangling (if you can call if that) your useless Prime Minister is about to announce that she has achieved nothing whatsoever so we will be entirely subject to what the EU decide in November.

    Great job Brexiteers. Great job...

You mean when he said the the eu brought about the fall of naziism and communism :rotfl::rotfl:

Seriously, if that is the view of the eu it just shows how deluded they are :eek: He is, after all, the president of the european 'parliament'.
What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare

The international reaction will be visible before the election if it appears that he's going to win. ;)

Better than the hell bent intention of removing freedom of speech. If you disagree your out...... Deselection of MP's will be interesting.

    Nothing to do with Brexiteers.

We elect politicians in the expectation that they will deliver what they have promised.

That's it really. If they are useless we only find out after the event.

We knew they were useless before the event. People still voted to let them have a go so shouldn't be too surprised they've made a mess of it.

Here's the text you're referring to:
As Turkey is in a customs union with the EU, it has to adjust its tariffs and duties to match those of the EU. However, the free trade agreements (FTAs) signed by the EU do not extend to Turkey, so the EU's FTA partners can export to Turkey tariff-free, while maintaining tariffs on Turkish goods, unless they also conclude a separate FTA agreement with Turkey. During the negotiation of the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP), Turkey raised the prospect of leaving the customs union over the economic contraction it would suffer as American goods would enter Turkey tariff-free and Turkish goods would continue to face American tariffs. The EU and Turkey are in negotiations for amending the customs union agreement to add Turkey to the EU's present and future FTAs.[5][6][7]
Which doesn't say what you're claiming it does.

    Further, a quick google; https://www.google.com/search?q=can+turkey+arrange+it%27s+own+free+trade+agreement
    tells you this:
Yes, Turkey has around 20 free-trade agreements, but they are ultimately a one-way street that can put Turkish firms at a competitive disadvantage. ... In theory, Turkey could conclude its own trade agreements for sectors that are not covered by its customs union with the EU, such as agriculture.

So you're sort of right, in a way that doesn't really apply here. Turkey can form it's own FTAs for sectors that aren't covered by the customs union, but doesn't automatically gain access to any of the EU's outgoing FTA's.

I'm not sure if there are any sectors that we'd want to forgo a CU with the EU with, in order to form our own FTAs elsewhere.
