  • Simple facts. If the Poles had not been driving in this country then this would not have happened.

Sometimes Drivers who are U.K. citizens are responsible for road accidents. By your reasoning, no U.K. citizens should be allowed to drive in the U.K, just in case...

Everyone believes they have 'facts' but once you attach bad/criminal behaviour to ethnic identity you are on the slippery slope.

    Air Ethiopia most welcome.
Only if they are able to find a route that avoids EU airspace.

Plus, if we cut air ties between UK and EU, I'm pretty sure we'd struggle and blink first. Spain gets lots of tourists that aren't British (and some places are trying to ban English tourists who have a terrible reputation, so may not be as big a loss as you think). But if no-one can travel to the UK over the EU, that'll cause us all sorts of problems; some flights may be able to re-route, take longer and cost more, but many will just suspend service until something rational happens.

Another example of attaching criminal behaviour or poor driving to ethnic identity. Typical brexiteer xenophobia.

Typical remainer myopia to the fact that there are huge numbers of foreign registered vehicles on British roads which are unsafe, uninsured and driven by unlicensed people who often ignore legal hours for driving. If you have ever visited eastern European countries, you will know all about the dangerous manoeuvres frequently exercised by HGV drivers. It's not xenophobic to point out facts.

Over the past few years I've hired holiday cars in USA and Australia and driven through Bosnia-Herzegovina and never had the need for an international drivers licence. My UK one was happily accepted in all these non-EU countries. Does the EU really plan to look like a banana republic by demanding separate international drivers licences from us?

As I understand it, you technically need an IDP to drive in the US, but it's never actually enforced if you have an English readable license. To be honest I can't even remember having to prove that I could drive the last few times I'd hired in the US, but their driving standards are awful anyway.

So you *probably* wouldn't need one for the EU, depending on how things go, but UK cars would be more likely to be stopped on the continent for checks of things like insurance, emergency kits, or anything else we'd legally deviate on, and that'd likely also include the IDP. It's an easy fine for the French Police who seem to already pick on UK drivers.

Why do you keep banging on about something that won't happen? You're worse than Mark Carney.

Not been ignored at all. It's just been pointed out that there are a huge number of UK registered vehicles on British roads which are unsafe, uninsured and driven by unlicensed people who often ignore legal driving requirements.

It's not xenophobic to point out facts; it's xenophobic to assign those facts to foreigners whilst ignoring similar problems for people of your nationality.

It's in the UK Gov admissions for a no-deal brexit. I also agree it won't happen (we'll get a full capitulation deal at the last minute), but only because it's a threat to be taken very seriously.
