Thanks for the advice. Not even added it to my budget yet.

  • Oh my goodness, the rain here is torrential. I'm glad it's not moving day as I've been hearing the roads to new house are flooded and not passable.

Not much to report this week. Business has slowed down. I expected it to pick up with people starting to buy Christmas presents, but will just have to hope things will pick up soon.

I need to have a final clear out, list anything that may sell and get rid of the rest of the clutter before we pack. Also need to run the freezer down. Grocery shop is tomorrow so really need to do a freezer inventory and meal plan beforehand. Hopefully that should result in a cheaper shop this week. Also have a £10 voucher to use at L!DL, so definitely hoping to spend less this week.
  • Yep rain pretty bad, I've had to put a cloth down by the back door as water coming in!

I haven't even thought about Xmas presents yet but will pop onto your page to get some ideas x

Hope you get some more news soon about the move.

  • Thanks @hugglemonster I really appreciate the support. Business is strange. We have mad rushes where everyone wants the same item (usually children's baking sets or personalised tumblers) then nothing for a week or two.

We're living on a hill at the moment so the rain just passes by us, but I'm glad to be safely in doors with nowhere to go today.

We should hear on Monday if it will be possible to move the following week. Keep everything crossed for us!

Hope you get move date soon.

    Rain sounds appalling. Stay warm.

Hope the business picks up soon too.

    Thank you SH.

I wish they were my only problems right now.

DD had some friends round this evening and I'm livid at the lack of respect they've shown for our home. I've just gone into the kitchen after they left and the floor, window sills & dining table are all soaking wet, and covered in food & drink. We provided food & drink but I'm pretty sure they've helped themselves to other stuff from the fridge & cupboards (there was empty cheese slice wrappers on the floor for a start!). But I'm most angry that somebody has poured something into DC3s drinking cup. Luckily DH knocked it over and noticed a bluish liquid. The cup's been binned! She's out at the moment but is supposed to have a friend sleeping over tonight and be going to a party tomorrow. I'm not sure how to react at the moment.
  • Did DH not notice? I'd say they're not allowed to come again if they've turned up and wrecked the place. My friends come and do their own dishes.

DH helped me clear up. DD is usually quite sensible so we thought they could be trusted. DH was upstairs for the evening, and I stayed downstairs with the dog, in the room next to DD & her friends. They were being noisy, but I didn't mind that. We expected the noise and knew they'd be leaving by 10 at the latest. I'm just glad I decided at the last minute to move all the business equipment out of the room. A soggy laser machine would not be good for business!

Sorry, but I wouldn't have cleaned up the mess. Your daughter made it, your daughter should clean it up. Good way to give her a lesson in responsibility.  Eve
  • That was my initial instinct but the dog sleeps in there & eats anything in sight. I don't want to risk him eating something that would make him ill. Plus, leaving a soaking wet table cloth on my oak table and water/drink on the laminate would have ruined them. I've not touched the garden, so she'll be cleaning that & I've left all the recycling and food waste for her to sort.
