Sorry to hear about the gossiping.  People are idiots.  Sorry to hear about the relative too, it's so sad :(

Thanks jwil. Yes some people really are. The bit that worries me, is his sister works at DD's school and is what is known as 'a gobby loud mouth' who just loves to know and tell everyone, everyone else's business 🙄 nothing I can do about it now though and as much as I want to, I cannot protect him forever and he will learn from his mistakes.

Anyhow, yesterday was much nicer. After work we went out for lunch with my dad, DS and one of my nephews. Haven't seen him properly in so long as he's been very poorly, so was amazing to see him looking so well 😍. Was a lovely meal and my dad paid for us all, so a lovely treat.

Today is our only day at home this week so we planned on not doing much at all, and enjoy not having anywhere to be or having any plans. Good job too, as I woke up with such a thumping headache, not had one like that in a long time. It is still lingering now but is easing off. So nothing got done, as everything seemed to take so much longer as it hurt so much. DS came down and played games with DD so I could lie down for a while on the sofa. Did sort my nan out a photo card for her birthday, to be posted as realised it may be delayed due to bank holiday. Had a voucher for a free card so only cost 76p postage. Going to try get to sleep early and shift this headache 🤞.

  • Catching up on your diary - congratulations to your DS on his results.

The felted key ring looks amazing.

We go back to school next week too and am dreading the early mornings and the logistical headache of getting everyone to the right place at the right time! Enjoy these last few days of the summer holidays.

Thank you both :). Must need some serious planning to get them all to different schools with new start times HSL 😲.

We enjoyed our trip away but had a total nightmare on the Saturday evening. We got to the hotel to absolute choas. Seems hundreds had been giving the same hotel details, even though most had no booking there. 3 hours we had to wait to find out we were booked in a different hotel, and we didn't get there until 11.45pm 😭. We were luckier than some, who had no bookings at all or were being split to two hotels. DS had his own room as he's 16, definitely wouldn't have wanted him in a different hotel. Got to the new one, where they tried to charge us for breakfast we'd already paid for and then told us the only slot left was 7am, which would have been great had we not been so tired. Anyway, we did it and we really enjoyed the Sunday too. Have sent an email to complain about what happened, although not expecting much.

DD started back at school yesterday and has loved it, she's so happy to be back. It has been very quiet without her. DS has been very nervous the last couple of days about starting tomorrow, but I hope he will get on okay 🤞.

Some big news! We have had a letter from our biggest creditor offering 70% off our debt. This is the biggie at over £10,000, so it's a very big chunk wiped from what we owe. Since the new year, I really put some effort into trying to save towards F&F's but was expecting to use them on the lower balances, so I had just over £900 in that pot. We also have some PB's we can cash out and some other pots to add to it. But we were still short, so DH's mum has lent us the rest of the money. She said she was happy for £50pm repayment but we are aiming for £150 or more, so it will be gone quicker. We are going to accept the offer. Never thought we would be able to get rid of the big one so soon. I will restart building my F&F pots alongside paying back MIL and hopefully get some of the lower ones gone too.

    Debt as it stands today
    1. £75
    2. £200
    3. £270
    4. £498
    5. £1897
    6. £2212
    7. £10,819
    = £15,971

    Debt as of next week
    1. £75
    2. £200
    3. £270
    4. £498
    5. £1897
    6. £2212
    7. £1500 (MIL loan)
    = £6652

Feel very pleased with that and lucky we were offered the deal.

Have to go out again this evening. DS has an appointment and we drove 40 minutes there yesterday and I had got the wrong day, bank holiday has messed my days up in my head.

Hi Robin :) I'm going to start reading your diary tonight. It might take me a few days to get through it though. Excellent news about the debt reduction and your MIL helping you out. Good to read your DD has settled in and I hope your DS also settles into what I assume will be college at his age? My DS goes back tomorrow and he says he's looking forward to it, so that's a good start. Have a lovely evening. xx

well done Robin - that's a big chunk off the total - and fair play.

My only thought is could you maybe aim at 20% or 25% - you got to be careful it doesn't go pop, but once its on the table they shouldn't pull it back. Maybe you could say you will accept it but can't pay the full amount until November, but you could pay 25% now.  Who knows they may be just short of a a target, and I imagine even at 25% there is good profit.  That would mean you could borrow less from your mum, or give your other F&F a real boost. You should probably ask on one of the other boards as many of the posters there have been through it, and I haven't !!

That is an amazing result for the F&F!

Shame about the palaver with the weekend away, glad you managed to have a good break though.

Hi teafor2, thankyou. Hope your DS has enjoyed his first day at school. I read along with your diary too and think they were very similar in that they enjoyed their beds too much during lockdown 😆. I hope all the doom and gloom over the last year doesn't put you off reading.

Thanks mark. We did try to push it a bit more but they are sticking to the 70% offer. DH spoke to them again today and still not budging so we have accepted the offer and told them we can pay next week when a few of our transfers are back in the bank. Still, it's a huge amount so still very happy to see the back of that one.

Thank you, WelshKitty and Jwil 😊.
