The rain finally came, but has still been warm and sticky heat. Still over 25° but much better than the constant 32°+ we've had. Of course it's bringing yet more misery to people again with the floods and damage again though 😔.Apart from work, we've done absolutely nothing today. Came home and had a nap on the sofa with DD. We all feel totally worn out. The sofa is super comfy 😃.SPC 0762

Hey,Work has been really busy, which is good as wasn't sure it would pick up so soon. I do feel bad that DD has been stuck there nearly every day the last few weeks though. Do always try and do something with her afterwards but she is definitely fed up of it and looking forward to going back to school.Got DS's results, it was emotional (I cried in the car park 🤣) all of them were under his predictions but considering all the issues he's had and missing quite a lot of school the last 2 years, I do think they are a fair reflection on what he would have achieved if he had sat his exams. He got two 4's, two 5's, three 6's and one 7 & 8. He wasn't even worried about the lower grades as they are not needed for what he wants to do next. He got the 8 in Maths, which wasn't a surprise as he's always been consistent in that subject and enjoys it. He is doing Maths and Advanced Maths at Sixth Form.Got DD to try on her school clothes the other day, and realised I never ordered any polo tops, so had to order those. Also, she has to wear PE kit one day a week, so ordered her some joggers as she'd be too cold in shorts all day. Because of the staggered start times, she has to start 25 minutes earlier than usual, going to be a killer after six months of no school run 😴. Not long to go until they go back.Took the DC to the local cinema yesterday. As most films have been delayed they are playing old films so we went to watch Labyrinth. We love it but DD had never seen it, she said it was weird but great. Taking her to see Harry Potter after work tomorrow. I want to support this cinema as it is such a great place and will be missed if they cannot keep it open. It's only £4 a ticket and the snacks are so cheap, I would never dream of taking our own. Yesterday cost £20 for the three of us with tickets, popcorn, chocolate and drinks each.Need to try and get DS a doctors appointment. He's always had tics, but recently they have been really bad and he has hurt his neck a few times. Not sure what can be done, hopefully they will calm down soon but thought I'd best mention it. I feel really horrible for saying this, but he can be quite annoying to be around when they are so bad, not that I would ever say anything of the sort to him.We have booked to go away next weekend. The DC both deserve a nice treat before they go back and hopefully things get back to normal 🤞. Hopefully when they go back, I will stop spending money too 🤣.SPC 0764

Well done to DS on those results, considering what he's been through, they are very good! Hope he can get some help with the tics.
I've got the later start time for school, I'd prefer the earlier oneWe are early birds though. It's a shame we couldn't choose our favoured slots
Yay to a weekend away!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee3 -
Thank you Jwil 😊We are glad it's all over and he got a pass in each subject and has what he needs for his courses in September 😅. I am unsure what help there is. It has been mentioned before by different doctors but it's never been as bad as it is now. But will see what they say.I am definitely not a morning person. I actually find it easier to get up if I have had barely any sleep but if I sleep all night, it takes me ages to get going. DD goes back on the 1st and even though she's had 6 months off, I thought 'that's a bit early' 😂 going to be weird without them now but looking forward to have the routine back.Only booked yesterday to go away, never booked something so last minute but I really wanted to take the DC away for a fun weekend and because it has been busier at work than expected, I had some extra wages that paid for it. Next month will definitely be getting back to no unnecessary spends and building the saving pots back up.SPC 0763

going to the cinema is so lovely even if they are oldies
totally applaud you for going and your cinema for being so reasonable. I took DS to the cinema pre lockdown and we couldn't get our online discount as the site was down and it was like £30 for 2 of us. TBF it was Avengers endgame which was awesome (if very confusing)I think I saw you in an ice cream parlour
Drinking milk shakes, cold and long
Smiling and waving and looking so fine4 -
Congratulations on your son's results. My daughter did well too, also an 8 in maths, totally deserved, the year paying for tutoring paid off (at one point we thought she would need it for a chemistry A level, but she changed direction)
My eldest son had bad tics when he was younger. He did a violent head nod for about a year and kept straining his neck, and then he had an annoying throat clearing noise which drove us mad! He has grown out if them and at 15 I don't think he has any other noticeable ones. My 11yr old on the spectrum tends to have stims rather than tics, but I know tourettes can sometimes go hand in hand with ASD/ADHD so we do keep an eye. My cousin's son was diagnosed with tourettes when he was in his early teens, he had a few different tics. I took my son to the doctor's as I wanted it on record that he had them incase they became so bad they impacted on day to day life. I am not sure what sort of treatment would be available, but I think it's always good to have it on any medical record, maybe a bit of research into it (looking at the NHS pages or an official tourettes organisation, not the Google wormhole!) Just so it can be mentioned. Good luck.Debt free Feb 2021 🎉2 -
It really is a great little cinema, mark
. It used to be £2.50 each on weekdays and £3.50 on weekends, prices went up a year or so ago to one price but still so reasonable and a lovely old building, definitely not like the big posh cinemas but I love its charm. Have not watched that yet. DH and DS have watched them all and got me to start watching during lockdown and I am still working my way through the list
.
Thank you DAL. Big congrats to your DD on her results, I bet you are all so pleased. Thank you for sharing the info about tics. I didn't have any luck getting through to anyone today, but will try again and even if we can get a phone appointment we can explain they have gotten worse. He has motor and vocal tics and have been considerably worse lately. Hopefully they will calm down for him soon 🤞.SPC 0762 -
Today has been a weird day.Work was fine. Cinema was fun. But then heard from my sister that her ex partner has been gossiping about DS and the reason he got in trouble. It's not been a secret within our family and friends but I haven't even seen this man in nearly 5 years, and nearly all of it wasn't even true and makes me wonder what else he's been saying and to who. DS did mess up, no doubt about it but I also don't want it to be common knowledge and it to follow him around forever. Because of everything that has happened this year, the outcome still hasn't been resolved but we have been told it should be soon. Just feel fed up of all of it.Also heard that my nephews partners father passed away, feel so very sorry for her. She is only 22 and DH lost his father in his 20's and it was rough, although obviously not a nice thing to happen at any point, but hopefully you know what I mean.SPC 0764
