Just popping in to cheer you on Robin. Sounds like you needed that lie in & everything always seems brighter after a good sleep. Glad thIngs are looking up for your DS (apart from the skateboard incident).4

Thank you WK. Yes, I was so grateful for a good night's sleep and to wake up feeling fresh and ready to get on with the day.DS has been doing loads better, still has some ups and downs but much better. Just that he was out of the house on his skateboard today is great, he has recently said he wanted to start again after such a long time.I am hopeful for better sleep again tonight 🤞.SPC 0763

Woke a few times but better sleep again😁. Walked to the lake after work to meet with a friend and her DS. Haven't seen them since January so was nice to catch up, DD took her scooter instead today. Was out longer than we thought, so had a quick pizza and chips for tea from the freezer, hungry again now though.Ordered a birthday present for BF's DD, £13.99 spent. August is our quietest month of the year for birthdays, with only hers to buy and she's easy to buy for ☺️. Also had to buy some antihistamines as DH has been taking some of mine as he got bit bad again by a horsefly and I won't have enough until my next prescription is due.Heard back from creditor. I paid it on the 1st but because my bank doesn't process payments on Saturdays, it didn't go out until the 3rd so it automatically flagged on the system that I had missed a payment. Anyway, all sorted and they could see I have been paying every month.SPC 0764

Work today and now off until Saturday. On the way home we had to wait for the tourist steam train to pass, was so happy to see it back doing the route (this is the most boring train ever, literally goes from one town to the next village and back 😆 but it has always been popular with visitors to the area)Me and BF were going to take the girls camping for the night but it was a lot of fuffing about and most places wanted two nights booked, so she is bringing the girls and camping in our garden tomorrow. Decided to put the tent up when we got home, it was a lot harder than I remember and huge! Then it started blowing a gale so was being flung all over the place. Between me and the DC we managed to get it up, just in time for DH to get home, finish off a few bits and act like he'd put it up all by himself 😂. Then decided that I would put up DD's little kid gazebo with her, that was worse than the tent, everytime we moved a pole fell out, got DS back out and we finally managed to get it finished.DD again has been itching to get back out on her bike to practise again, so took her out for a bit after dinner. We found a spot with some trees dotted about and she used them as an obstacle course, she did great and was doing loops by the time we left, she said after 'I was really proud of myself, because my legs were starting to hurt, but I wanted to go for 10 loops and I did it' 🥰.SPC 0766

Hope the camping goes well!
Well done to DD too"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee3 -
Thanks jwil, had a lovely time with BF and the DC. The forecast was clear but it rained all morning on Thursday so I am glad we got the tent up ready the day before. It soon dried up and was so hot! All went well apart from DD being sick, think it was too much excitement, too hot and eating too many roasted marshmallows in a short amount of time 🙈. They went home after lunch yesterday and we didn't do much for the rest of the day.Today has been boiling! After work I decided to put the tent away and get the garden back to normal. Wish I had waited for it to cool down but once I had started I just got on with it. Left the gazebo up for DD for a few more days.We have booked tickets for a day out for DD's birthday. Her birthday is not until December so who knows what will happen between now and then, but I wanted to book to make sure we get a time slot and will hope for the best. I was in an online queue for over an hour to book! If not, will rearrange to go another time next year. It wasn't cheap but had money saved towards birthdays/Christmas so used that and we usually do a family day out instead of big presents for birthdays.SPC 0764

Crikey, it's been so hot this week. I find it hard to concentrate when I get so hot, it's like it pickles my brain 🥴.We bought a new sofa on the weekend, new to us anyway. We have been saving for a while and one popped up last week but they said it was sold, they got back in touch saying the buyer had let them down so was still available. It's lovely and just what I had in mind, it's a 3 & 2 seaters and foot stool, whereas before we only had a sofa and a armchair. Still have £75 saved in that pot, so hoping to get some new curtains at some point too. It was hard work getting it in and the old one out, had to take the double doors off in the living room and then move all the dining room furniture about. DH's friend has just bought his first place after house sharing, so he is having the old one. Only problem is he can't get in until next week, so we also had to move stuff around in the garage to fit the old one in and under the stairs and the hallway is full of the seat cushions. Ah well, he is really pleased to have a sofa sorted for when he moves in.Took DD to the car boot on the weekend. It was the busiet place I've been to in a long time. There was signs up for a one way system but even I couldn't figure out which way that was meant to be as people were going everywhere, so we didn't stay long. But managed to pick up a few bargains on the few stalls we looked at.Had to pop in and help my mum with a few jobs this morning and then we went for a short walk along the river with my sister and a little one she was babysitting. I don't miss those days of having to leave with half the house just to go on a walk and we had to Youtube how to put the pram up and down 🙈 he was really good though considering it was the first time she had babysat him.SPC 0765

Love having to youtube the pram. That happened to us with our first trip out with DD1 - luckily a passing mum helped us out in exchange for a cuddle
Glad you have had a few nice days out although the heat is brutalI think I saw you in an ice cream parlour
Drinking milk shakes, cold and long
Smiling and waving and looking so fine4 -
Well done for braving the car boot. We haven't been to one this year yet. We've got loads to sell, but I'm not sure I can face it yet."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee2

It looked like it was going to be simple, mark. I'm pretty sure we wouldn't remember how to do it again. My sister asked me to go for moral support as her boys are 19 & 22 and hasn't had any babies to look after for a long time but seems I've forgotten too 😆 the little one went home clean, fed and happy so we did alright between us.This is only a little car boot, jwil. But seems everyone had the same thought because there must have been 3 times the amount of sellers. We didn't stay to look around them all but DD was chuffed with her game of battleships and an art set for a pound each ☺️.Today didn't go as planned. Decided with DD to go out early for a walk at the docks and then to the local craft village to have breakfast. When we got there we found out they are no longer serving breakfast. My boss also text to ask what time I was going in, well considering she hadn't told me I was meant to be, I wasn't planning on it at all 😆 she has done this before, marks me down but forgets to tell me. So, stopped and got DD a bacon roll and a juice and come home to get changed to go. Did stop by BF's after as she said she had made me a gift, a needle felted keyring, I love it 😍. The heat has been unbearable again, the thunder and lightening has started but still really sticky heat and no rain yet. Also paid for a term for DS's bus fare for Sixth form. The options were daily, monthly or termly. Saved £20 to pay for the term but was still £240 😲 still have over £100 in the pot to get saving before the next lot is due January. He will need to wear a mask so will buy him a few more reusable ones so can get them cleaned everyday.SPC 0764
