Well done at tackling the tiling. I do admire your ability to tackle DIY jobs yourself.
Glad that you were able to have some quality time with your DS on holiday and a huge well done on getting the mortgage down.paydbx2025 #26 £890/£5000 . Mortgage start £148k June 23 - now £138k.

Hey - nice to hear from you
Sorry things are stressing you out so much, but well done on still battering that mortgage down no matter what.
I don't know if you're aware, but I holiday on my own with the kids. At time it feels a bit lonely and I long for adult company, but dd is almost 15 now and pretty good company. I am happy enough doing it, but I totally understand it can be difficult.

Just rediscovered your diary and just had to post.
You know that I've been through a similar situation with my OH - we don't live together but have been together for more than 6 years and our relationship had deteriorated to me being ignored and an unpaid dog sitter. I ended it and it was a huge wake up call to him - begging to take him back, constant apologies etc. We're now talking but little else.
It's bloody hard - I know exactly how you feel. I'm not going to tell you what to do - only you know what's best for you and your son - but will offer the hand of friendship from someone who knows how you feel . I too need more friends and interests away from the OH.
I think you're in South Wales somewhere (my homeland but now in Manchester) so I'll know where you're talking about!
If you ever fancy a chat or just a conversation online feel free to message me anytime. Chin up - you can do this, whatever this is!0 -
Thankyou HSL2, CCL and MT. MT, thank you for the hand in friendship too, that was a lovely thing to say and really did brighten my day. The same goes to you too. I hope you enjoyed your visit ‘home’. I think I escaped to my ‘home’ just as you drove back here! You’re not missing much with the weather today...
DS and I have been to see my parents for a few days, unfortunately coming back a bit early due to the horrendous weather forecast and driving conditions.
We had a lovely time and really didn’t want to come back. It was so lovely to be surrounded by family and friends again. There are a few places for sale in the street my parents live in and for a moment I was dreaming of buying one of the properties and settlingback to be near everyone. I then remembered my very non-transferable job, lack of employment in that area, low salaries and the ridiculous cost of house prices (my house is probably worth double if bought in that area), and so reality kicked in rather quickly.
As usual, my family have so kindly sent us home stocked with bits and pieces to save me money and two big bag fulls of clothes for DS, including loads of new school uniform and sports clothes for PE. All I’ll need to purchase before school are the branded school jumpers and some new shoes, for which my Mum and Dad have so kindly insisted on giving me £50 towards. I’m so very grateful to them and so lucky to have them.
It’s been very difficult seeing my Mum I so much pain this week.I wish I had a magic wand that could make her better.
We are heading back there in two weeks for another few days.
I’ve been quite productive today and have sorted all of DS’s clothes, earmarking some for the charity and some for eBay. The stuff that is too big has gone in a spare drawer in my room for when he grows into it.
I’ve also sold an item on fb for £10, probably could have got more but at least it’s some money in my purse and a large ish item cleared that doesn’t really fit in this house.
I’ve listed two items on eBay and another couple on fb too. I shall try and list the pile of eBay clothes this weekend as well.Mortgage @ 03/2019: £125,000, Now: £51,706.16

Just sent an OP of £33.86 to the mortgage to round it down thanks to a bit of budget shuffling in YNAB. It now stands at £103,950 with£1272.33 in overpayments made so far this year. £527.67 to find in the next seven months to reach my target of £1800 in OPs per year.
The FB buyer has collected the item for £10. Two more people have expressed interest in another £10 item, but that will be going into DS's ISA as it is an item of his he no longer wants.
DS has just left with his Dad until tomorrow lunchtime now, so I'm going to jump in the shower, then clean and tidy a few more bits around the house so I feel a bit more on top of things. Today house = tidy mind and all that...Mortgage @ 03/2019: £125,000, Now: £51,706.16

Glad to hear you had a nice time with family, sorry your mum isn't well.
You're doing so well with your regular mortgage overpayments, no doubt you'll reach your goal well before the year is up!0 -
Glad you were able to visit your parents and get away for a break. Well done on the fb sales and mortgage overpayments
