My wonderful Dad so very kindly gave me a £50 Asda gift card when I was home, to help buy some groceries. :heart2::heart2: Today I spent approx £18 on a few bits and so have just transferred £20 to the mortgage as an op from the cash I’d allocated to the grocery budget that I would have spent from the bank.
I know it’s probably daft, but, in a way, one reason for making these overpayments and for being savvy with my money is to do the right thing by my Mum and Dad. They have done so much for me and DS in so many ways and helped me so much financially over the years that I want to repay them in doing the right thing. I haven’t explained that well, but it makes sense in my mind and makes me feel happier doing so.
I do physically repay them £200 a month, but this is a nominal amount to what I owe them, although they say I owe them nothing.
My parents have never been in debt, have never been spenders and have always saved and budgeted for things they need. I have not been so wise in the past, but these days I do try to live by their example.
I don’t think they could ever know how eternally grateful I am to them.
My sister text me tonight from the hospital to say my Mum insisted she text me on her behalf to tell me she loves me and DS. I know my Mum, and this is because she thinks she may not make it. I could barely speak, it took the air out of my lungs and stung my eyes.
We had concerns about my Dad for a while tonight too. He is not coping well now. Seeing my Mum in such agony constantly is cutting him up and today he didn’t know whether she was dead or alive for some time after she was admitted. He was showing signs of shock earlier today but my sister has checked on him tonight after I called her and he seems ok. I am so desperately worried about them both.
