Sorry to hear the trip away was spoiled by an argument , take your time to assess the relationship and your OH behaviour , it may just have been a blip but don't ignore any further triggers or warning bells and most of all trust your instincts

I've just sent a £70 overpayment to the mortgage to round it down nicely and to cheer myself up a little. I don't really participate in retail therapy these days, it's more overpayment therapy. :o

Am over halfway to my OP target for this year, I'm pleased with that, but can't help thinking how much further back the goalposts have been moved since this time last year. :(

Anyway, the figures now look like this...

    Mortgage @ March 2019: £107K Now: £104,900
    Mortgage OP's 2019: £959.88/£1800
    EF: £4000 • H2S: £750
    Mortgage @ 03/2019: £125,000, Now: £49,869.55
    Mortgage OP’s: £22,109.28
    SHTF pot: 500/1000
  • That is really sad about your dream house. :( So infuriating that it clearly went to the wrong people too! I hope the new house feels more like a home soon! Sending hugs!

it does sadden me that the house was not loved by the new owners and it appears to have been purchased as a money making tool. I’m sure DS and I would have been so happy there, it was perfect for us. The previous owners also loved the house and were sad to leave as it had been their family home for 25 years. I think they would have been disappointed to see it as it is now too.

Finally, an item has sold on eBay since my last post. A BIN for £6.50 so it won’t make me rich but it is better than nothing.

I have also chased the friend and they will be collecting the items next week, so DS will have £25 from that which he can save towards summer holidays spending money.

I filled the car up earlier, it took just over £51.
I also popped into the shop and picked up a few things we needed which came to a grand total of £2.70. I should receive 50p of that back from a shopmium promotion too.

DS’s chest of drawers has finally given up after a year or two of the runners being broken. It was an ikea buy about 6 years ago and has survived two house moves so it’s not done too bad.
I will need to replace it ASAP though, so will see what I can find online later.

£28.59 overpayment sent to the mortgage to round it down, if I can find another £50 soon to make it £104,500 I’ll be pleased. Only £11.53 to find before I’ve reached a total of £1000 in OP’s so far since mid March. :)

The past few weeks have been stressful and full of worry but there have also been some good days.

Money is very tight until the child benefit and CTC hit the account but we have enough and I am still determined to sweep what I can to the mortgage and the savings.

I’ve made good progress with some jobs that are on the ‘to do’ list in the house and garden so am feeling pleased with myself for what I’ve managed to get done lately. OH was critical tonight about my work done in the garden as I knew he would be, but I’m pleased with what I’ve achieved over the past couple of evenings single handedly, whilst also trying to keep DS entertained, fed, watered, cleaned and on top of working, cooking dinner, doing loads of washing and all the other normal household stuff, so I really don’t care what anyone else thinks!
I have rehomed some plants and kept costs down as low as possible too (and have worked my backside off!).

It is a bit of a spendy month with regards to birthdays, bu I’m trying to keep it as on budget as possible.
£10 has been spent on one, £12 on another and I’m hoping to get a third done for under £20.
There are a few birthdays to cover next month too so my birthday and Christmas pot may need a bit of a top up if it’s going to cover Christmas this year. :o

Doing the garden will help to make your new place seem more your own. The evenings have been beautiful recently, what a lovely way to spend them!

Yes, it really does help HSL2, although I'm limited to what I can do by myself for quite a while as it needs quite a lot of difficult groundwork done which I really struggle to do by myself and money spent on materials which I just can't afford. I'm trying to do what I can though.

Being alone is really getting me down today. :(

I took DS to school this morning and he is one of only a couple of his friends who has divorced parents. :( Some had both parents with them today, some were the Dads and a Mum and we were generally making conversation about the weekends. Their normal family plans for the weekend just reminded me that I don't have that companionship, company or normal family life. I left the school feeling really sad.

DS is at his Dad's tonight. They are now living with the Girlfriend who is lovely and I'm really happy for DS that he gets a taste of normal family life too. He seems happy enough with the situation.

    I'm just so bloody lonely.
I do love OH and he is a nice, kind person, but he will not commit to anything more than our relationship is atm. He can get really moody and is impossible to talk to about feelings or the future and I feel like I'm treading on eggshells a lot. I don't feel supported in anything I do, in fact he can be quite critical towards me at times and I feel very much on my own.

I texted (my only!:() two friends I have here last night, just to catch up with them and for some interaction with someone as I was feeling so lonely. A friend/acquaintance from a few years ago on FB sent me a message too so I replied. Not one of them replied to me. I thought about popping to my elderly neighbours to say hello, but remembered DS was sleeping upstairs so I couldn't go out. I felt so utterly alone. I even was a bit :( at the delivery driver rescheduling a package today as it meant I wouldn't see SOMEONE, even just to say 'hello', and 'thank you.' I never thought my life would be like this. It's a horrible feeling, feeling like you've failed at the chance of a normal happy family life and are 'on the shelf' at 40 something. :(

Time to make a cuppa, sit in the garden for 5 minutes and try and feel a bit better about things I think. :(
