You are amazing to keep the overpayments going! I see the H2S is climbing up too :).

Someone I know suffered a stroke a couple of years ago and the stroke association were and are very supportive. I think she still attends regular meetings that have been really helpful. I think she found out about them from the hospital. Hope your mum has had a good day today.

Glad to hear your mum is on the mend, hope she continues to improve! You're doing so well with your budgeting! It's really impressive how many mortgage OPs you've managed to fit in!

Thank you Moguline, Unfortunately the budget isn't going so well this month, but at least I know I can pull it back again with the help of YNAB.

I'm still here, still plodding, although feels more like treading water atm.
Mum is slowly recovering and is doing well considering, but the problem and illness that caused this latest attack won't go away, so that's always a huge concern.

My car issues should be sorted by the end of the week, although I will be over £200 down. :( There is £400 in the car maintenance fund so that will cover it, but I hope nothing else goes wrong this year as those savings need to be built up to cover the tax, insurance and MOT at the end of the year.

The savings have gone down again, although £125 of it was sent to the mortgage to get it down to under £105k. It's now £104,999.;) I knew I wasn't going to be able to raise £125 at the moment and I'm paying more interest on the mortgage than I'm earning in savings. I also would have been extremely demotivated if I couldn't have paid that down this month. The savings are now at £4050 (with £700 in the H2S pot). I'd like to build the first pot back up to £5k again as soon as I can.

I have also booked us another weekend break away - only a theme park type thing, but DS really wanted to go and I want us to make some memories this year. We have had a cr&ppy year and we need a bit of joy back in our lives. That was also paid for with the savings.

I did quite a big shop at the weekend - nearly £60. It really does cost to shop healthily. I've made a few meals and frozen portions though, mostly for DS, and have meal planned for the week so don't need to spend anything else for a while - good job as there's very little in the account until the tax credits and child benefit are paid in two weeks.

I'm still struggling with this house. I passed our old house today and had to hold back the tears. I know we couldn't have stayed there, but it was our 'home' and we both miss it so. I feel extremely isolated where we are now. It's not home and I really don't think it ever will be. I just can't wait until the day comes when I can sell it and move us to somewhere more suitable - financially, emotionally and physically.:(

It's been quite a speedy week - just bits and bobs that all add up.
I have also not been organised with lunches and breakfast for work and have ended up spending a ridiculous (to me) amount on food in the canteen that is no good for my waistline or my bank account.
I'm determined to do better this week, so have just prepped some overnight oats to take for breakfast and taken a batch cooked meal out of the freezer for lunch tomorrow.

I spent £10 on some items to support DS's class project; £5 on a drink our for OH and myself and £35 on an item that is needed before the end of the month and some summer shoes after mine perished.

I have also spent £40 this morning from the gift account but used a groupon offer. The items I bought will cover at least 5 or 6 presents and would have cost me around £80 or £90 at full price, so it's a great saving and has sorted a fair few gifts out. :)

I need to get some grocery shopping later, but can't deviate from the list as the bank account is looking fairly sorry for itself. We don't need a great deal, just a bit of a top up shop thankfully.

My wonderful parents kindly sent us £20 to treat ourselves. We will be saving it for our weekend away in a few weeks. It can be DS's spending money.
I have also sold an item for £15 on FB today which has been collected and paid for already it has been put away an will also be saved towards our weekend trip.

I've rearranged some furniture this week and put some more pictures up. The house is feeling cosier now but I'd like to continue with the painting and start tiling the kitchen this week. Thankfully, I have the paint already and I bought tiles this week as they were on offer and even managed to get further money off by emailing the company. ;) I paid for these out of the savings, so it's back down to £4000 now, but at least £100 a month will be going into that account from next pay day.

The car is fixed. It cost me £220.:( The car account also gets £100 a month, so that will hopefully soon be back up to a nice amount again in time for the MOT and insurance. I'm praying nothing else goes wrong with the car in the meantime.

There is still very little money in the bank, but I managed to reduce our shopping list to the things that were essential and ended up spending around £16 at the shops yesterday. I went to home bargains to get the bits I knew were cheaper there and also picked up a Dad's day card for DS to give to his Dad (49p) and a big box of sweets for £1.99 to make into donations for DS's school event next week.
DS and I made and decorated the sweet jars last night after school, so that's our donation done for very little money. :)

I mentioned quite a while ago that the ex has sold his house and is moving (the source of much anxiety and worry at the moment as the new arrangements are not ideal for DS, but that's another story :() so DS has had a clear out at his Dad's. He's sorted lots of toys and games that he no longer wants - most of which have never been opened. One toy had obviously been partially opened and DS had tried to assemble it. I asked him why he never played with it, he said he couldn't do it himself, he kept asking Daddy and he was too busy all the time and never helped him. So it remained unplayed with. :(The same with a game that was obviously brand new - DS said his dad always said he'd play with him but then was always too busy texting and on his phone. I always made sure DS had plenty to play with at his Dad's - myself and family bought all of it - his dad hasn't bought one of those items. It makes me so sad to think that his Dad wouldn't just sit with him and play. I don't know who has missed out the most in that scenario. :(

Anyway, hopefully I have sold all of these toys to a friend for £40 which will go to DS. I will encourage him to save half into his savings and the rest he can spend or save towards something.

I didn't sleep well. I had nightmares which woke me at 4.30am and then broken sleep after that. Hopefully tonight will bring better sleep.

I've just had my tax credits renewal pack through the post, so will do that today. I was getting anxious as it hadn't turned up yet.
Wonder what amount they will pluck out of thin air as a response. It never seems to make any sense.

I have taken some chicken out of the freezer and will cook a roast dinner for DS tonight. Perhaps extra for OH and I too instead of the paella I'd planned. It will be nice to just cook one meal for a change!
It's only a few chicken thighs split from a larger pack. None of us eat much meat, so we're cheap to keep that way. Three chicken thighs will do all 3 of us. I have plenty of veg and potatoes to use up too, and will make DS's favourite - yorkshire puddings!

Summer shoes arrived - and don't fit. I'm surprised they were actually in one piece after the way the postman tried to ram them through the letter box instead of actually ringing the doorbell, he got a bit of a surprise when I opened the door halfway through his attempt.

Those, alongside another item previously returned will be a refund of £36 once back in my account.
