Lovely to 'see' you Sellotape! How's things with you? Still tackling the mortgage overpayments?

I was freezing in bed last night, so traipsed to the spare room and grabbed a big thick really heavy blanket that my Mum gave me and slept under that as well as my duvet. It was so warm and snugly I didn't want to move from my bed! I also pulled a blanket up around DS last night too, on top of his duvet and left the heating on for a few more hours.
The blanket from my Mum was given to her by an elderly lady friend of hers. Someone had given it to the older lady, but it was so big and so heavy that she could barely lift it! She asked my Mum if she knew anyone who would like it and kindly gave it to me. My Mum sent her a more useful (to her) gift in return. There are some very kind people in this world.

I've just bought a Christmas present online via TCB and should receive around £4 cashback. Every little helps and all that. It was to replace the wrong item I'd ordered for OH for Christmas and only realised when I collected it at the weekend. I should soon be refunded for that though.

I did some work last night on the craft orders and need to do some more tonight. OH helped me with some problems with my laptop and has made it so much easier for me to use so I should be able to get things done much more quickly from now on. :)

DS had a hospital appointment yesterday. Confirmation that the special diet used to tackle his symptoms hadn't worked, so we're back to square one. :(

It's three days to payday and I'm quite pleased with my grocery spends this month, I've spent £137.93 out of my £150 budget for the month. Considering I have had to buy special dietary items for DS and also feed OH for half the week (although he does contribute to this by bringing food), I don't think that's too bad as we've also had a fair few treats out of this too. We have eaten out of the freezer a lot this month though so spends may be more next month as I probably need to replenish it a bit.

I will transfer any leftover in that account to the house fund or use to bump the mortgage overpayment up towards the target.

Just logged into my TCB account to see that the purchase has tracked, but I also had £7.50 payable from referring OH, so I've just requested payout of that. :)

  • Hi MeandO,

I'm ok thank you :) lovely to see you too :) mortgage OPs have taken a back seat to house renovations this year... it's felt relentless at times but nothing to what you've been dealing with. More work starting in Jan which which will be repaid on a finance plan for 18 months so maybe I'll start a debt free diary instead for a bit :D

I've also started eyeing up new builds! Unfortunately the only ones near me currently are on a flood plain so staying put for now x
  • Hang on in there MeandO… you'll get there. It feels like for ever when we're caught in the middle of it but you will get there. Just ride the bad days through - they will pass. :grouphug:

I've realised that I am going to have to get rid of quite a bit of my furniture for the move to the new house. I'm a bit gutted, I do love certain pieces and have not long bought some of them, but they are just not going to fit in the new place.
So far I've listed 3 pieces of furniture and there's interest in two of them. If sold, they should make around £150 altogether.

I've also potentially sold my sewing machine which I haven't used in an age, so that's £30 hopefully arriving this evening if the buyer turns up. There are a few more items of furniture I will need to get rid of, but will set about photographing and listing them over the next week or so.

I'm debating what to do about my bed. It's only a few years old, but is badly cracked in several places and I'm not sure it will survive another dismantling and reassembling. I do love it though and could really do without having to buy a new one. The mattress is fine, but the bed frame wasn't such a good buy it now transpires. Will have a think about that one and keep an eye out for any bed-bargains.

£30 received from the item sold tonight. :) No real progress on selling anything else yet but I have had a few enquiries which will hopefully turn into sales.

DS and I sorted through ALL his toys after school today which is no small job! He was quite ruthless and we now have over two black bag fulls to go to the charity shop. I’ve kept a few back to try and sell and have listed them on various selling sites tonight but no takers yet.
This weekend I will take the three black bags and an electrical item I now have ready for the charity shop. I always donate to the same one as it’s not only convenient but a very worthy cause - our local flying heroes. ;) I have also put the clothes I had earmarked for eBay in the bag too. I have too much else going on at the moment to contemplate ebaying stuff and I’m certainly not moving it with us to our new home!

OH cooked us dinner again tonight with ingredients combined from my house and his, so no spends for either of us. He’s also prepped meat, which has been languishing in my freezer for some time, for us to have tomorrow. He’s helped me pack all of my craft orders too for which I was really grateful. They’re all ready to post tomorrow now.

I’m tired now. I didn’t sleep well last night so am hoping tonight brings better sleep.

    Night all x
