Thank you HSL2, thankfully the tests were normal which is a blessing, although it still means everything is a bit of a mystery.

The house move pot has now reached £1400. :) I’m due a refund of £189 by the weekend, so I will split that between the house move pot and some towards a bill which needs to be paid for January.

We’ve had a lovely day, considering. There was a local Christmassy event on this evening which is a favourite of ours. We can walk to it from our house, which is always lovely to do. I shall miss doing that next year, although we shall still attend and drive into town. DS spent £5 of his pocket money there and I topped it up by another £2 for him. We also popped to the shop and bought some ys treats and a loaf of bread for 24p which i’ll portion up and freeze.

Feeling very grateful for my lot tonight. ❤️ Xx

  • You are amazing MeandO...getting that pot to £1400 in what has been a relatively short time period is impressive

DS and I were away for a night at a 'Christmassy' event over the weekend. It was paid for long ago, so just had to cover diesel, food and spends whilst there (which was enough in itself!). DS enjoyed, but I wouldn't book it again as it definitely wasn't worth the money.

I've just sent my final mortgage overpayment of the year to the mortgage. I'm pleased to say I've got it down to £74,000 and overpaid by £1894.35 this year. I was aiming for £1800, but added another chunk to it to round the mortgage down nicely. It's such a shame that it will soon be going back to a 6 figure number but at least I've done what I could this year.

I have also managed to build the moving fund up to £1750 thanks to some more sales. I hope to get it to £2K before the move.

I had to leave work early yesterday for a tradesman appointment at the house. Thankfully they turned up early and weren't long doing what they had to do so I used the spare time to make a big pan of soup with veg from the fridge and catch up on some more orders.
A portion of said soup has been brought to work for lunch today and there's about 5 more portions left in the fridge.

£1 has gone to school with DS for a Christmas event alongside donations for fundraising. More dosh will be parted with later today for another school event and two tickets have been bought for DS's school play. DS is also now having some school meals again so the payment account has been topped up. This school lark is expensive!

Yesterday my Mum had to undergo more horrible procedures in hospital which was a worry. Again, it's a case of prayers and finger-crossing until results are back in. If worrying was an olympic sport I'd excel at it...

No further plans tonight other than getting some more work done and cooking something from the freezer for DS, OH and myself.

I'm feeling really tired this week and I don't seem to be sleeping too well so am going to try and get an early night tonight.

Excuse the AWOLness, I haven't really had much to update tbh.

Contracts for new place should be signed this week, buyers of current house have made yet more appointments to visit this week which I could do without at the moment, but can't say no.

    I haven't started packing yet either, I can't face it. :(

I did do a final clear of the huge shed and outdoor spaces at the weekend though with (a grumpy) OH's help, so at least that's firmly ticked off the list now. It involved another trip to the tip and two more bags filled for the charity shop. I really don't know where all this stuff comes from!

In money news, I spent £600 of the new house fund on furniture needed for the new place. I was going to wait and order it when I have moved, but there was a discount code which was taking more than advertised off the furniture and it can be delivered in February and cancelled easily if things go wrong. It is a lot of money but was budgeted for and paid for with savings.

The bank accounts are looking fairly healthy. I've had lots of orders to make and post which has boosted the savings but they will slow down now as Christmas is nearly upon us.
I haven't really spent a lot on groceries again this month and as it's only myself and DS to worry about feeding at Christmas (OH won't commit to what he's doing yet ...) it won't cost me much to make it nice for DS. Makes me sad we have no family members around us and DS doesn't experience the big, chaotic family Christmases that I had as a child, but it's the way it is so I have to make the best of it.

I visited the new house site again yesterday and left feeling really down about it all again. I'm finding it all really difficult but am desperately searching for the positives but they are few and far between.

The visit did reinforce the fact that I will definitely need to get rid of quite a lot of furniture before moving, so I've advertised another couple of things this morning that I don't really want to part with but have little choice. I will need to take photos and list a few other things soon too. I think I'll even have to get rid of my sofa I only bought to move into the current house two years ago and paid a lot of money for. There's just no room for it. :( I will probably only get a fraction of what I paid for it too.

    :(

  • Lots of love to you... you sound so down. I know it's not what you wanted, but for what it's worth I think it takes a lot of strength to walk away from something, as you're doing with your current place.
Your Christmas is going to be amazing, and you will fall in love with your new home I'm sure.
