Tesco banned me!

For about a year I have been using the Tesco online service every week to order Groceries etc. Everything was fine at first but after a couple of months I started recieving food (especially fresh meat) that was almost out of date (alot with just 1 day left) as well as broken items such as crushed eggs, split yoghurt pots etc. According to the tesco helpline, fresh meat should be delivered with at least 3-4 days left on the use by date.
Each time this happened (at least twice a month) I called the customer service number to complain and they refunded the items that were damaged/out of date and either arranged collection of the items or told me to keep them. Although it wasnt ideal to have to keep calling them I found the delivery service convenient and continued to use them.
I got a rather nasty call today from a rude lady at the Tesco head office informing me that I was no longer allowed to use their online service because they "could not provide the service I expected". What a cheek!! Instead of sorting out the obvious problem they have banned me. Its not like i expected anything unreasonable... just undamaged goods and a few days to eat my food before it went rotten.
As a Tesco shareholder and ex-employee I am absolutely shocked at their attitude and amazingly poor level of customer service. I would be interested to hear if anyone else had had similar problems
Anyway... vent over.

I've always thought Tesco wren't interested in customer service at all, just in taking over the world and paying everybody a pittance to work for them. I use Waitrose and Ocado for online shopping and they're both brilliant. Ocado's service is exceptional - you get compensated if they're a few minutes late, and if you don't want the alternatives they send along sometimes for fresh items you usually get given them any way as they don't want to devalue them by returning them to the wharehouse. frequent special discounts emailed (this week I can get £15 off my shop if I spend £90) and no delivery charge except for small orders.0

if you are a shareholder you will be better placed than most to complain! Write to their head office in your capacity as a shareholder & ask for an explanation!nothing to see here, move along...0

I'd take this MUCH further if you can! That's outrageous!!!     How can a company be allowed to get away with banning someone when it is actually them in the wrong and negating on what they have contractually stipulated they will do for their customers i.e. fresh meat within 3-4 days????!!!!
Shameful!! There'll be laying down a shopping Dress Code next!!!!
Wish I knew what best to suggest, but I'd be at a loss at where to go from here myself!
Hope some legal Eagel comes along shortly to advise on how you can tan their !!!!! Good Luck!
I think we as Brits do not complain enough and that's why these 'Big Boys' think they can get away with it, but then that's another thread!:rolleyes:Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle. :A0 -
Thats to trouble with some large companies they take there customers for granted and far too cocky with it. Shop else where in future they obviously dont give a stuff about some customers0

Seems they have you down as a professional complainer (much hated in retail).Other than the meat, what did you consider to be an unreasonably short expiry date? (by your reckoning could you have made about 24 phone calls?) Doesnt look good on paper.Could they be thinking-if we are so bad ,why does she keep using us-and come to an abrupt conclusion?0

meat out of date , well you are not the only one my brother has had the same problem with stuff being out of date in only a day. when he called customer services , he had to bring the items back, which was a 30 mile miles round trip , thats why he used the Tesco online service . He would be spending over £100.00 every two weeks.
He had a right go at one of the managers the second time it happined in the store , and they gave him a £ 25.00 of petrol token . But he is still getting duff sell by dates.
He has taken his business to someone else .0 -
Nothing new I'm afraid. Last year dozens of MSEers were banned from various Tesco stores as they didn't like us using their now defunct R+R policy on overcharging (full refund + keep the product).
In other words, they only wanted customers who didn't notice when they were overcharged.
This is Tesco's whole ethos. They don't want to do things the customer's way, they want the customer to do things their way. If there is a problem that would cost them money or effort to fix, they would rather ban the person who complained about it. There were even cases in the papers of old ladies who were lifelong Tesco customers being banned by thuggish managers for bringing back mouldy bread.
Senior staff at their Dundee HO have a track record of turning around and attacking the customer, they believe the customer is the problem, not Tesco. Certain managers there spent a lot of time and resources instigating witch-hunts against a few MSEers last year, and at the same time did absolutely nothing to address the widespread overcharging which was the root of the matter.
If it's a store ban you can easily circumvent it by arming yourself with a few shares in Tesco (they can't ban you from your own propertyor they can try, but the look on their face when the police turn up is priceless) but not sure how this would work in practice with online shopping.
