Are you being sarcastic? Tesco certainly don't offer the worst pay and benefits but they are nowhere near the top of the league. For example a large proportion of their staff have to pay full retail price for their lunch. When you're on retail pay subsidised meals are quite a useful perk.

Having to wait a year for a measly 10% discount is rubbish, and until recently you had to spend over £3 to claim any discount (no doubt to prevent staff claiming discount on their lunch.

No non-contributory, final salary pension. (Granted this is very unusual these days and the scheme Tesco does offer is OK).

A range of so-called exclusive offers which anyone can beat by spending 15 minutes online.

The pay for Tesco management is certainly very competitive and the share scheme is excellent if you have some spare cash to invest in it, but for the average worker I'd say the pay and benefits were distinctly average. (Trust me, I know people in both camps).

No i am not being sarcastic. For the job that is done it is excellent. Yes i have worked as a CA for Tesco and worked up the ladder. I have lots of free shares in Tesco, there share schemes are also excellent, pension is brill, staff discount helps, but also get vouchers at xmas, there are computer at home schemes, I get all my iunsurances very cheap, and my basic salary is much better than an equivalent job for another supermarket.
    :rudolf: I love xmas!
  • My wife just got a call from the local Guardian newspaper. They want to print an article about this so are coming to ours on tuesday evening to take our photos.

I had bad experiences with Tesco orders and complained about them.

Guess what? The service is now TEN TIMES better.

I have items that have a good expiry, I am called if orders are delayed or cancelled. How are companies suppose to know how to rectify issues if you don't complain!?

Im glad to hear that they sometimes listen to their customers and sort the problem out instead of sweeping the problem under the carpet and trying to silence the people that could help to improve their service as they did with me. Maybe there's hope for them yet..lol

So do you run your own business?

I do. He is right. It's now common for small business owners to stop dealing with 'un-profitable' customers, I can imagine the op would be one. Your writing in bold is correct, but some people will go to an extreme and always complain, these are the ones to be rid of. Better have them slag off someone else rather than you.

I do run my own business and have worked previously in large and small businesses dealing with customers.

While it may be common for small businesses to wiggle out of dealing with customers who have unrealistic expectations of the service ( in my business by putting up with it and renegiogiating the contract so the price is too high, or charge a lot for add-ons) however Tescos is a large company which is a well-known brand name. They should have a department to deal with customer service issues as most large companies have.

BTW unhappycustomer Ocado deliveries are the best but you pay for it. They were the only company I trusted to buy meat and veg from online. Sainsbury's tend to forget stuff but their staff are much politer than Tescos.
    I'm not cynical I'm realistic :p

Re staff at Sainsbury's being more polite- absolute nonsense !, far too much of generalisation, good and bad staff in both supermarkets.
  • tesco is far from perfect, i prefer asda but the one in my home town is tiny and has pay and display parking- just not worth it :(

re complaining to companies, sometimes it is worth the effort, sometimes not, my isp is pipex and i have been with them since 2004, in that time they have cut me off about 4 times, my reimbursements have totalled over £100 and it was all issues that should have been resolved in 2004, not 3 days ago, i have spoken to numerous people (about 6 people altogether) and only 1 of them sorted everything out properley for me, and you know what? she wasn't even a manager, she got everything sorted for me so kate at pipex- thank you, cos you are great :D
If at first you do succeed, try not to look astonished.

What has four legs and an arm? A happy pit bull
  • Minimum wage is a pittance! And I don't see why at 21 I deserve less money per hour than a 22 year old!!!!! I have a family to support just like every1 else, I don't get an under 22s discount on my food/bills!

    RANT OVER!

oh my goodness!!! i always rant about that! I mean do 18 yr olds get cheaper rent, gas and electric and I never knew? Cause as far as I know, I pay the same now as I did back then and I get paid more now!

re the topic - i always had this problem with quorn deli ham!

hit them hard as you can with this one.

they cant not listen to a shareholder however small. Tell them that unless you receive satisfaction on this disgraceful ban, you will ensure that you are in attendance and extremely vocal at the next shareholders meeting.

make sure you have the names of everyone you speak to, record telephone calls if you can and distribute your unhappiness as widely within TESCO as possible.

Bet they change their minds and come grovelling back with a statement about "misunderstanding", "accounting discrepancy/account confusion".

Tell the local press, radio and tv. Tell Watchdog on BBC. Report them to the office of fair trading.

Tell the p.r. departments of all their competitors.

Demand satisfaction and compensation for the inconvenience.

its great fun even if you dont go back to TESCO.

Anyone else you can think of?
:o Keep trying.........................what else is there to do? :o

 Supermarkets are the scum of the earth in my opinion, I have a relative who worked for T.E.S.C.O. (The Evergrowing Serial COn) , she said they treated her like dirt & she left after a short time.

Regarding the prices, why is it that I can pop into a shop such as Grahams or Bodycare & get a bottle of original Vosene for 99p, yet 'TITS'CO feel the need to charge me £1.89 ?

If they have the buying power you imagine they have, why can't they knock it out for 50p & still make a profit.

BLOOD SUCKING SUPERMARKETS WILL BE THE RUIN OF THIS COUNTRY !

God they infuriate me , claiming to be the cheapest Etc Etc.

I'm so mad now I can't sleep. OP, it's your fault!!!
