On a slightly different note, Sky are charging me a £10 "Admin fee" for renewing my TV for another 18 months - despite me also having Broadband and Phone-line with them running not-quite-in-parallel.
Viva Rip-off Britain.0 -
More like competing for pittance. I expect it'll get even worse after Brexit.0

Viva Rip-off Britain.
Plenty of people recently have quoted £20 as the new "admin fee" so either you just got in before it went up or I'd be checking my bill.0 -
I have a neighbour who is looking to get away from Sky after massive price increase. They have been on some TV and BB deal for £25 a month but BB expired price went to £49.75, Sky tried to talk them into Fibre and price was £85.
Now they just want OUT from Sky, TV will be done in April and will NOT be renewed, so now they are looking for a cheap broadband, they were with Plusnet before, not keen on BT, so does not leave much.
I am not keen on TalkTalk, I did see a Vodafone sub deal for £20 on here for fibre (with cashback) but seems to have gone and is back at £20. Does anyone know if installing Vodafone will mean that a move to alternative supplier will require install cost or do they use the BT infrastructure.
Am I right in thinking that the deals seem to alternate up and down each month, so is it worth waiting till next month?
I also noted NowTV which is part of Sky, I nearly fell for the very misleading Money Supermarket page for NowTV which said
"Depending on what’s available in your area, you can choose from up to three totally unlimited, reliable broadband plans:- Brilliant Broadband (up to 17Mbps) – £8.00 a month
- Fab Fibre (up to 38Mbps) – £18.00 a month
- Super Fibre (up to 76Mbps) – £26.00 a month
THIS DOES NOT INCLUDE LINE RENTAL
So fed up of fake headline offers
I did look at TopCashback but does not give you information on deals unless you register and not ready for that.
Has anyone seen any genuine discounts, there was a Plusnet offer here for basic BB at £10 a month earlier this month, is that likely to be repeated?
They are probably OK with Basic BB but may be prepared to pay for 35mb Fibre is price is good enough, will then use money saved from Sky to get Netflix in April.
Bye Bye Sky seems to be the mantra wherever I go0 -
What do they mean not keen on BT ??
Voda have got the worst record on yesterdays Ofcom complaints table .Yes they use OpenReach existing lines.
Key is what do they want and when are they out of contract with all services.
BT do a basic package .
SKY most users who are informed of a price rise negotiate a price .
Not keen on TT nor Now TV nor BT nor Sky .
Really leaves Plusnet .0 -

Can anyone tell me what Vodafone customers were complaining about?
I know Virgin customers complain of prices, install charges and them sharing lines so not delivering speeds they promised
Are there any limitations to Vodafone, do they do traffic shaping for example.
What they want is JUST INTERNET, could be Broadband or Fibre as I said above, depends on the price. No TV No Calls, Just internet.
He was not informed of any price rise before it came, he had an 18 month TV contract that Sky could not install because of the building so they talked him into this £25 a month deal with TV for 18 months and Broadband for 12 months.
He is not keen on BT, I think he had a previous problem with them, if by BASIC you mean £24.99 no thanks!
He has special needs and is vulnerable to these companies, I know when he left Plusnet they tried to rip him off, he left under the OFCOM right to cancel and they tried to charge him over £500, they threatened bailiffs and all sorts for a bill that was fake and they had no right to generate. Took 3 months to sort out.
I think Plusnet would probably be OK for him if he wanted their BB £10 a month deal, the Sky BB he has been on was faster than Plusnet, so keen to avoid their traffic shaping nonsense.
So I guess it is between Vodafone and TalkTalk, I do not think he has been with TalkTalk, I have found them to be a terrible company.
I would like to know whether Sky retentions might offer him something to keep him as a customer, albeit that he will be cancelling TV in April, that is their own fault, he just got fed up with them trying to up the price.
I did find a £50 TopCashBack offer for existing Vodafone Mobile customers to get fibre broadband for £20 a month
I could not find the Ofcom report on Vodafone you refer to online0 -

I know it's popular to have a go at TalkTalk, but they do have a lot of happy customers.
I'm one of them - pretty much fault-free, decent customer service on the very rare occasions that I've needed it, and £30 pm all-in for unlimited calls and a package of add-ons including the very useful call divert that would cost an arm and a leg with BT.0 -

BT Basic refers to their low cost package for people on certain benefits but it's capped at 15GB a month and since you've already mentioned Netflix it wouldn't be suitable.

Neither Sky nor Plusnet use traffic management.

Thanks Colin that is useful to know, although it seems they have not removed it but turned if off because I saw this in their press release:
What if a customer wants to continue with traffic prioritisation?
Any customers who do want to continue to use traffic prioritisation can do so by ringing 0800 432 0200.
The only way that could be is if the traffic is going through that kit, although I gather they still have it for business so maybe they have two different networks0 -

You are right DocN I guess there has to a few happy ones! I think a lot of people are just lazy about moving or are in different budget groups. To me £30 is expensive and unlimited calls at home is meaningless as I abandonned home phone years ago, my neighbour does not use his either but I guess I should let him decide. I used to have International call add on which was good for me at just £3 which they later gave me free
I am interested in the limited things the ISP's put on their service, for example the Sky Router is a pain because it has just two ports.
It seems to me we are in the 28 days where the prices are not great, at New Year there were £10 a month offers and £75 cashback.
The fact that they all seem to move in sync seems strange.0
