Like red squirrel said early. You could spend all weekend with your friend. Feet up drinking a glass of wine, free to come and go when you want or you can spend all weekend watching him play video games and the occasional smarmy attempt at physical contact. I know what I would choose!

It’s just so difficult and it’s like he has a 6th sense.
I’m sitting at my desk at work and all of a sudden I get text messages like
I love you
I’m sorry I don’t treat you good sometimes
Are we ok?
And when I don’t answer quick enough I get “?” Texts
Though I’ll sound like a little girl, I want my mummy!!

He probably has sensed that your attitude to him has changed and that his control is slipping - don't let him saying a few nice things change your resolve.

You are at work.......why would he expect you to drop everything to answer his moronic texts. Is he so deluded or is it more sinister. Is he trying to get you fired so he can exert even more control over you......that would play right into his hands. He would have you just where he wants you, under his thumb and helpless.

Please .....he is a user and a narcissist. Yes he has a sixth sense.....that's what makes narcs so good at controlling and manipulating their victims. He has been watching you for years, he knows how to read you, exactly which buttons to press, how to reign you in and make you dance to his tune.

Narcs are cunning and skilful manipulators, they are experts at controlling their victims, they love to gaslight, to play cat and mouse. And I'm sorry to say this but the only person that a narc loves is themselves. Everyone else is just a servant to their ego. They come first and foremost. They are incapable of real love.

Get out now....whilst you still can.

And don't expect it to be easy. Narcs really don't like being left. If you think there is any chance he will turn nasty then I agree get the police round whilst you pack your things. They will send someone round as a chaperone.
