NST June 2018 A JUNE ODESSEY (Staycation)

ooh what a week - time has flown so quickly I didn't get a chance to catch up and then post.
I have managed 3 more NSD's although Wednesdays spend was an emergency one - a mouse/rat chewed through the mains water inlet pipe and flooded my kitchen. Cue emergency plumber and some water contractors who luckily dug up the back path rather than my kitchen to try and find the mains water pipe.
Emergency purchase was a rat/mouse trap - very much needed but it has not taken the bait so I don't know where it is which worries me slightly.
Had a spend day today as got STBEXH a fathers day present from the children.
Hoping for a better week next week as need to get my NSD's up otherwise I wont make 20.
Hope you all have a good Sunday.0 -
Chilli & jacket potatoes meant using up some YS spuds & some sour cream, was delicious. Jacket potatoes are a favorite of mine when I have the time to do them properly!!
Made some stretchy dough for my kids when LO requested play dough. Will make him the traditional type when I go shopping as I was out of salt & had no food colouring.
local church is running a "uniform bank" in June. Where people donate old & new uniforms & people can go along & kit out their kids. I think this is wonderful. I think I will donate my £5 there.
Not much left in the budget but plenty of food in & enough to get by. Grateful that this skint is a choice while we save & not a forced situation with no end.
Grateful today for - my friend giving me a little Yankee candle. They are my favesfree marmite samples in the post (for hub not me , yuk yuk yuk) & for cuddles with my youngest (rare)

Today was a NSD I could make up a number, as I have lost count and can't remember, but I will just keep count from now again and figure it out later.
Today I found a fireplace, which someone had hidden behind some wallpaper, plaster and a lot of bricks and blocks. 7 hours later, I have a lovely clean open fireplace, and a sore arm. Me, and my ham - mer!
Why they had felt the need to fill the bloody thing with rubble I cannot comprehend. They must have been terrified of draughts breaking in at night, but there you go.
Birthday trip to the Tip tomorrow with the rubble.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Hi all :j
A Ask yourself 'Is this necessary?' Before purchasing anything. Hadn't planned a spendy day but DD wanted to go to some shops which sold items we were running out of, so I succumbed...When you make a 'to do' list (is it realistic or even possible); not list work as such as I didn't make one..
J June challenge runs from 1st June to 30th. Aiming for tough target. Still 9/20
U Use the food you have in the cupboards, fridge and freezer to base your meals on. Meal plan (for the month or for a few days at a time, whichever suits). Cook from scratch (short cuts permitted if you are feeling stressed) Lunch was leftovers from yesterday, tea was...…...see below...
N No takeaways, coffee, chip or pie shop purchases. Yielded to pressure and had fish n chip supper.......boo. So expensive !! It does mean that we will have todays meal tomorrow though..
E Eating well is a form of self respect. Not good, see above point re fish n chips..although its a very occasional treat, not a weekly occurrence
O Offer help and encouragement to other turtles and people you meet. Be kind to everyone, especially yourself. Waves pompoms wildly encouragingly!! Hopefully was kind to folks in shops, gritted teeth & was nice to DD despite usual provocation...now need to be nice to me..
D Debt or savings payments should be made first - live on what is left No debt other than cc I use for all purchases to get rewards - which is paid off in full every month. Will need to get the cc bill down during the month with payments made daily (PAD thread) to avoid large bill at end of month. Another Daily PAD..
E Exercise according to your programme or your ability. Minimum of 3 times a week. Try to get outside every day. Outside into green house, watered back garden - then later on a thunderstorm......much needed.
S Set all your budgets before the start of the month. Food, travel, social, diy, other. Have all receipts in shoebox awaiting DH revival of spreadsheet..will tackle tomorrow, honest. Tackled DH re spreadsheet, he will locate tomorrow. Shoebox filling up with receipts..
S Someone, somewhere is worse off than you. Donate to the local food bank or other charity of your choice. Clear some of your clutter and donate the goods to charity. Will be amassing stuff to take to CS as I clear the clutter; also intend to sell better items to pay for hols booked for August. More items to list on the morrow.
E Every day check in is recommended, especially when things go wrong. 16/30 here I am..
You are the most important person in your life. You are your own longest term investment. You matter. Read this and the daily quotes, take on anything you find relevant and helpful, ditch the rest. Reading, learning & inwardly digesting. Help and support on here is the best..progress slow but steady..keep on keeping on..Need to concentrate on not getting overwhelmed..
Never mind indigo - the trifle was a treat when you felt down, probs needed at the time.
Go turtlesNew start JAN15 - NOT BUYING IT 2015 . Long haul DFW #145 : 2011 DEBTBUSTING : £5500 OD GONE, £2000 OD - GONE £93,610.30 cc & loan debt - GONE 27.6.14 FINALLY DEBT & MORTGAGE FREE :happyhear0 -
Still running to stand still here. 10/10+ NSDs have been met so that 20 target might just be possible.
Have read all your posts despite not posting myself. The next three weeks are looking busy, next week particularly so but then I should be able to get back to normal busyness!"A thousand candles can be lit from a single candle without shortening the life of that candle."
I still am Puddleglum - phew!0 -

Well, The endof a really busy week - I'm sorry but I've hardly had time to read the posts here let alone update properly.
Yesterday I sold pretty much all of my stuff at the market which was a very good thing. I did also buy some offal for the dog and reduced strawberries which I made into jam yesterday, although that is for our home consumption, not for selling. If I find some more cheap berries I might do some for the
, though it isn't really worth it by the time you take into account the cost of the ingredients and how much I can sell it for - it's a co-operative group who sell together but some of the ladies grow their own fruit and make it into jam so charge a really low price.
Today is clearing up our house/garden/doing the home chores etc. andI also have to update our spread sheets - so far the money is OK, although I need to give my son soe money as we promised to pay his holidya travel for his birthdayTrying to keep in budget.

Today is a NSD. Lost count but still in budget.
Tea Party tonight - doing 3 meals to account for all the food intolerances and preferences. Feeling a bit nervous about it  Might ask hub to do the kids spaghetti bol for me while I do the adults teas...
Hub is off helping a guy with his bees this afternoon. This is something hub has been keen to get into for a while & even though we are not in a position to do it ourselves yet I am pleased he is getting as much experience as possible.
Hub and I are making an effort not to wash our clothes when it's not necessary. Out of habit I wash everything at the end of the day. Sometimes this includes jumpers they wore to nursery , took off and then never put back on & so have only been on an hour. I could also do with a better clothes horse at some point. Rock & Roll.
Grateful for : getting some more time to read last night. My son feeling a bit better this morning after a few days poorly & for being able to sew up hubs favorite garden trousers when they ripped :j0 -
