I was always a soup devotee but only made one or two 'safe' recipes. Since coming on here I've managed to make my own personal favourite mushroom soup, and have got new confidence to make soup out of whatever I've got in the cupboard - it's a revelation!

Well done Carol, glad to see how much you and hubby are enjoying the changes!

As good? AS GOOD!!?? Wrong answer :naughty: Sell him and buy a pig! The *correct* answer would be ... it's better than tinned! ;)

Well after he'd had a whole bowl full for his lunch yesterday he declared "better than tinned"!! :D

Wow, I said - when you had a little taste it was only "as good as" ;)

Yeah this OS board has inspired me to do lasagne, soup, experimental risotto's, flapjack, cobbler etc. Used to just stick to a recipe entirely now I bung in whatever's in the cupboard and just wait and see what happens :p No major disasters so far....:j

I've been cooking to stock my freezer this morning and, sad I know, I just wanted to share my achievement with others who would appreciate it!
I have made - huge pan of pasta sauce, lentil and tomato soup, 20 chickpea burgers, 2 cheese n lentil wedges (flan type things), lentil bolognaise, and 2 sausage casseroles. All in about 3 1/2 hours!
Now I just have to hope I've got enough freezer bags and plastic tubs for it all lol.

  • Hooray! Well done - it is so satisfying when you have stocked your freezer.
Do you have a recipe for your chickpea burgers? Mine are always too dry.

Well done it is so satisfying isnt it. I feel the same way in the autumn when the store cupboard is full of home made jams, chutnies and pickles. Even prouder now that most of the fruit and veg used, is home grown.I have to resist the urge to throw open the pantry door when we have visitors and say "look at this" you know some people just wouldnt understand!!
