    Hi,
Sorry if I have posted this in the wrong place. After reading some threads about people baking and saving money of course, I was inspired to make something. So after routing through the cupboards I made banana cake. I have to say that it is gorgeous, cost a fraction of what a shop bought one would have cost and im sure is better for me as I know exactly what has gone into it. So thank you to the people on this board for giving me inspiration!

Aww thanks! I'm thinking about doing meringues to go with my fresh strawberries. Any other ideas for things to make using baking powder and bi-carb?

    Pavlova - easy peasy.
And use the eggyolks in any number of things - make up rich shortcrust pastry to freeze for later efforts.
Well done with the nana cake - muffins are a good way to use them up, too.

Bicarb mixed with vinegar makes an excellent cleaner!!! Use it for stuborn marks on you cooker, or pour it down the sink, leaves it smelling fresher and cleaner.

I can't take credit for the recipe for the banana cake- it was taken from the Waitrose website who asked the Royal Horticultural Society's café at Wisley.

I used a deep cake tin instead of a loaf tin and found that I forgot to buy veg oil so used 50ml of sunflower oil instead. I also found that I had to leave it in the oven for about 60 minutes as the inside was still a bit gooey.
