What about wraps with different fillings? Or making a bit extra when you make your tea and freeze a portion and reheat it at work (if you can)

Could you cook a cheaper pizza at home and take in slices? Or as Hayley said above, maybe you could do some fajita style wraps... do you have a microwave?0

Oops, I was so impressed by the weekly shop bill, I never noticed the paragraph asking for suggestions!
If you have a microwave at work, then you could pre-cook your lunches at the weekend or one evening in the week, or cook an extra portion with dinner, then just zap them at work. Things like soups, shepherd's pies, lasagne, even stews are ideal, accompanied by some salad not to mention baked potatoes with different fillings, or open sandwiches.
If you don't have a microwave, how about things like gazpachos, kedgerees, scotch eggs, homemade pate, cold pasta salads, etc. Make them on your day off, and keep them chilled.

Thanks for all the ideas, much appreciated. We do have microwave at work, so I can reheat things. I've put some mince in my weekly shop, though I bought the value stuff, I figured I could just drain the excess fat off rather than buy the lean steak mince - £3 saved! I've already transferred the extra £25 to the savings account so no chance of me spending it. I think while I'm off for the next few days I'm going to do a load of cooking of things like curry (my biggest takeaway temptation!!) and bolognese. Love the wraps idea, sandwiches are boring but wraps seem more fun somehow
Stew sounds good too, I've got some meat in the freezer that I can stick in the slow-cooker. I'd forgotten it was in there til you mentioned stew. I've no idea what meat it is, but I'm sure it'll be alright in the slow-cooker :rotfl:
Think I'm going to go clean my house while I'm still full of beans. Thanks again for all your fantastic suggestions, I've saved this thread so I can come back to it for ideas later (and to remember how good it feels to not spend £100 on a weeks shopping!!:money:)0 -
You could take a large potato to work, !!!!! it several times and cook on high power in microwake for about 6 mins. Take some butter, grated cheese, tuna, chopped chicken, left over bolognese, chilli or stew for toppings. The jacket potato is not as nice as in the oven but makes a great cheap and hearty snack . Also uses up small portions of leftovers for toppings. I do this a lot at home with small portions of leftovers and used this alot when working nights.0
