If you get an ordinary lettuce and take the outer leaves off - the little bit left looks like a "little gem" - not that I would suggest deceit LOL:j"This site is addictive!"

Rofl, thanks Elona, but he is a lettuce expert (well someone had to marry him  ).
For many years icebergs were fine, then he read about all the chemicals  .

That looks perfect and I'm sure it'll earn its keep, but I'm not going to mess around in ebay, so does anyone know of a good site where I could buy proper tupperware from please?Penny-Pincher!! wrote:Hi There
Bogof_Babe, have you ever thought of buying a Tupperware Salad keeper? I bought one on ebay for £5.00 including postage. It was second hand but in good condition. Here is a link for one on ebay at the moment:

That's certrainly the right sort of idea but I'd really like to be able to keep all my salad bits in one, not just the lettuce. My organic box doesn't contain any salad bits at the moment so I'm limited to "bulk" buying in Asda and trying to make it last as long as possible to keep my diet reasonably varied. I'll have a trawl through the site later and see what else there is to find

Oh you've worried me now - I only have Iceberg in the fridge at the mo. What chemicals and should I really be worried?0

Squeaky what about this, it's a mat that sits in your salad drawer allowing air to circulate around it.

I've bookmarked both of those sites thanks. While you were looking there I was trying to find a tupperware outlet that wasn't on ebay - and failed.
So I decided to lose my ebay virginity and bid on the one first mentioned after all. If I don't win I shall come back to these two options.Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. Was interested to read about good old Tupperware. I have loads of things some since before we married in 1981 and they are still going strong. Would suggest you look at car boot sales rather than Ebay to buy your stock. I recently bought two storage containers to match ones I have already for 30p each. Always see loads of different items at the car boot for peanuts - similarly have bought Pyrex jugs, cake tins etc. for next to nothing. Hot, soapy water and like new.
Jersey spuds seem to have been hiding themselves away here. I bought loose ones in my Sainsburys on Friday however at 99p per lb; reduced from £1.99 per lb.0
