    Hello you lovely lot!

Emmalis, congratulations on getting the job! Hope it all went OK over the weekend.
Suggs, well done on the great rugby result :T , are you sure a couple of days off the gym wouldn't help your leg more? (I'm a fine one to talk I know).

Bails, thanks for your message, been missing your input, hope to see you back properly soon. Don't like to think of you struggling. (Oh, you posted again while I was still composing this - hi ;))

Victory, ouch about the money! Hate it when that happens, especially when you get "stung" by more than one place at once. I don't know the answer about the detox drink so I won't guess... but I'll be interested to hear if anyone else knows. Loved your post about Christmas, great attitude!

Beanielou, so sorry about your fall and I hope you're feeling better now.

Weight loss congrats to Bargain Babe and Raphael, and anyone else I've missed.

Petrichor, happy you're feeling better about Christmas now!

I'll post an update from me in a minute :D

OK slightly mixed bag of results this week! Only ¾lb loss which definitely is not reflective of the massive effort I put in during the past week, but it's still a loss and I'm still slightly ahead of target so I shall accept it happily, carry on, and hope that some of last week's effort carries over to the next weigh in!

Waist measurement is down again though, 66cm (or 26 inches). I think a "size 8" is supposed to be 65.5cm so I must be getting close now! I have been focusing on toning up my tummy with exercises for a few weeks now and it's actually feeling... dare I say... flat (ish)!

This might be the week I attempt to ease up on myself a bit, because the less I eat and the more I workout, the slower the weight loss is getting - I'm finding this really tricky because all my instincts tell me to be harder on myself! I also have a goal which I'm only slightly ahead of target for, so I don't want to mess that up by experimenting around too much... ho hum!

Good luck to everyone still to weigh in :D

    Afternoon all,

Congratulations Raphael on losing the first stone and Bargainbabe on your half a stone too, let your milestones keep your motivated!!

Bails - sorry to hear about your benefits - it makes me so mad when one department doesn't seem to know what the other is doing - and if you phone to try and clear things up - it was always someone else who gave you the wrong information. Hopefully they will be able to clear it up quickly and you can get your money sorted out really quickly.

Suggs - hope you are studying hard and the exam goes well on Wednesday and well done on your Rugby result. You seem to be playing quite well the last few weeks with the right results.

Brighton Belle - thanks for offering to organise the the secret santa - you can be Santa's No.1 little helper.

Katyk - Have you had any other ideas for the presents you were looking for? I wish I could help but I am hopeless when it comes to presents.

Victory - Hope you are feeling a bit better now with your blood sugars, etc and fingers crossed for the new medication to work.

Can I also post another 2lb off for me this week so I'm happy with that before my challenging week full of celebration dinners, family visiting, etc.

Sorry to bore you - but I thought this was quite funny - As I mentioned in my last post it is my elder son's 18th birthday today. He isn't a very confident boy (a bit like myself). His pals all turned 18 before him and usually go into town on a Friday or Saturday night. He has never gone with them before as he is worried he won't get in - even with his fake ID (which he has never tried to use). Anyway, he decided that the first thing he was going to do on his way home from work tonight was pop into Asda on the way home and legally buy booze to share with his pals, using his driving licence as proof of ID.

The only problem is - he passed his driving test on Saturday (which he is delighted about) - and the examiner took away his provisional and said his full one will be here in about three weeks. Other than his birth certificate (which they won't accept as it doesn't have a photo) he has to wait another couple of weeks before he can "properly celebrate".
  • hi all, been to busyt over the weekend to post as came over all girly and went shopping for most of it! i desperately need some new knee length boots and after spending 2 days shopping came home with 2 new pairs of footwear. . . neither of which is black or knee length.

Getting back on the wagon now, started planning properly and making an effort. I'm starting work on Christmas for work and i have to go out and eat several christmas dinners which will be challenging but i'm sure i can manage to plan for it. Reading all your posts from the weekend has inspired me to really think about what I'm doing and what i really want. Also helped by the fact that I found it very difficult to find a pair of boots that would actually zip over my calves. I was feeling quite bad but was advised in several shops that practically everyone struggles to zip up knee length boots. Which begs the question, why do they make them so small?

BB many thanks for stepping up to co-ordianting the secret santa. I have no preference for the budget. I think the rest ( one gift or multiples, knowing who bought it) well, thats all up to you!

too many posts to mention but everyone is sounding pretty positive, lets hope we can keep it up!

Oh well done for reminding me about the detox drink Missyg, I knew there was something else! I think we're talking about the hot lemon right? It helps with detox because of the acidity of the lemon, which helps break down fats, and the water still counts as healthy fluid intake. Hope that was what the question asked!

Think your plan to ease up a little is a good one Missy, it does sound as if your body may be hanging on for dear life so it can get you through your workouts. It may also be that you're so close to goal and those last few pounds can be stubborn.

Well done on your 2lbs Anic :T Hope your boys have a great birthday, what a coincidence that they're on the same day!

    KPC
I always have that problem with knee-high boots too (I thought it was just hockey players syndrome :D) - the only place I have ever got boots from is Walmart! Glad lots of us seem to be getting refocused before Christmas, I'm definitely going for a small buffer zone. We do seem to be a positive bunch at mo, I certainly get a real boost from all the good vibes and advice on here at mo. Keep it up boys and girls!

Anic well done on your fab 2lb loss. Does it feel crazy to have an 18 year old son? My son is 9 and I can't believe how quickly the last almost-decade has gone!

KPC I remember a programme years ago where some really slim girls (proper size 8's) were trying to buy that kind of boot and even they were struggling! Manufacturers obv still not doing their homework  My fave boots are my lace up ones anyway, hehehe :D

Thanks Bails for the answer to the detox q - that's what I would have guessed. Sounds a great way to detox so I am going to give that a try Victory thanks for the tip. I usually just drink loads of plain water.

I've had a think about strategy now and especially after what Bails said, I'm going to try doing a lighter workout with perhaps 2 days off this week, but keep the food intake the same. I will review this with a midweek weigh in :D

I've been looking for the minimum healthy weight I should be at 5 feet 3 inches. I thought the BMI chart was fairly standard but some say 7.5 stone and some say 8 stone

Missyg, I'm sorry I always seem to be going against your instincts etc but can I please suggest you are careful with the BMI calculations - they are only intended as a rough guide and I don't imagine will correlate correctly for you. I'm sure you've heard before that often elite athletes can be classed as obese on these scales and with the amount of exercise you do I would imagine that the scale won't be a realistic reflection for you. Without knowing your frame etc, I cannot make an accurate statement but 8 stone sounds very low to me for someone with high muscle mass, let alone 7.5! Do you know your body fat %? This may be a more helpful guideline. Sorry, the last thing I want is to sound negative, my main aim above everything is that we all keep healthy first and thinner second! Let us know how the mid-week weigh in goes with the new routine - when is that? - and be prepared to also give it time.

On a slightly off topic note (although I'm justifying it as we're kinda talking about kids :D), does anyone know much about fertility stats in your 30s/40s? We're having a 'baby' talk tomorrow but my research so far seems pretty conflicting. I'm 32 but my main problem is that I'm not ready for motherhood! Is there a test I could have or is that only available if we're having trouble conceiving? Clueless, moi!

    What a crappy afternoon!!

Revision is going ok ish. test exam are around 80% I need 85% to pass so its looking ok, as long as the memory holds.

Decided to give the gym a try, got half way there a got a flat tyre  Im guess a pot hole, as I went over the M1, but such is life, anyway after spending 30mins swapping the tyre, a 7 week old tyre at that! I hit the gym and promptly ate a couple of handfuls of jelly beans

Still the gym was as normal, knocked up 21mins Cycle level 13 - 408 cals and 22mins x-trainer level 11 - 453 cals Total of 861 cals. I was prepared to ease off with the thighs hurting so much, but it seems to only hurt if I move from rest, once Im moving its ok

Anyways home now, new tyre ordered for tomorrow, so fingers crossed.

Hope your feeling better and not so sore beanielou

Thanks Anic and missyg32f about the rugby, first time I had beaten the rivals for a few years and as a team we are having a few good results which is nice as normally you dont! On the subject of boots KPC, I like mine mid cut and full laces with an insole, and the long studs to the front, I lost that much weight that my boot lace holes now touch when I do the boots up!!

Now missyg32f come sit and talk with me, Bails is right be a little careful with the weight setting. At 5ft3in and BMI of 21.5 your in the healthy weight range anyways, according to the BBC website. Remember 8stone and your not a heavyweight, one strong gust of wind and you will land in Ireland! There is no simple answer because the BMI is not a sensible measurement, 2/3rds of the England rugby team are obese according to it!! So if you look fit and feel fit then just work on toning up the body and improving the fitness :) I know its easier said than done, and it is a leap of faith. but I am sure a lovely person like yourelf can do it ;) If your still not sure, dont rely on websites and us, as your GP for advice :) On the subject of easing off, The weight will try to hang around as you eat less and workout more, its partly adjusting to the change by storing food, just in case it needs it.

I haven't posted much for the past few days, my father in law died on Tusday last week and it has obviously been quite time consuming (and emotional) beginning to sort things out. He was almost 86 and had had a good life. I think he was ready to go.

Thank you Suggs 1000 for putting me on your thank you list. I was amazed ... as far as I'm concerned I'm the one getting all the benefit round here. Good luck with the exam on Wednesday. Sound as if you're making great progress, you obviously made the right decision to postpone it.

How did the weekend go with the new job, Emmalis?

BB ... Stewart on the telly at the weekend? When? Where? if it was the re-runs I recorded them. If it was something new, I'm devestated to have missed it.

suggs good luck with the exams

Yes I love hot lemon, drink it all the time, cheap, VB buys online a drink that helps her not be so hungry and costs...wait for it £95 for a packet:eek: for that price I would want it to last me 2 years:rotfl: :rotfl: green tea also is very good for you but never taken to it, they had it at work but just could not bring myself to drink it;)

Just taken the three little tablets that are going to cure my arthritic pains ,hopefully with no side effects, fingers crossed!
