    Morning all!

Victory, it's great to see you with a sense of humour about these things, so important. Hope the tablets work well for you without too many nasty side effects. Congrats on the photo shoot too, sounds like you took no messin'! Sorry to hear you didn't feel you looked your best, hope the three you have bought do you justice. Gutted we didn't qualify, haven't seen Stevie G (among others) play that badly.

Thank you so, so much to everyone for all your support and hugs yesterday, they helped enormously. And to Suggs and BB for your 'been there and done/doing that' advice. I have got myself up today determined to have a more positive focus, going okay so far :rotfl:I've got a busy day, but in a good way, sorting out a few things in town, having a wax (ouch!) and then a walk with OH this afternoon. I haven't been able to do any exercise recently because of work so that'll really help my mood. I've also got my meals sorted so hopefully it'll be a better day foodwise too.

Efrieze, almost at the 100 mark, how fantastic! Jan 8th sounds like a great target to aim for. And Australia for your 30th, I'm jealous! Hope you are excited already, how long you going for?

Delly, thank you for the chart, much appreciated. Well done Anic, on SOTW!

Petrichor, sorry you didn't manage to get yourself measured, I've never been to a place where you have to take everything off!

A strange thing happened to me yesterday - I was at work in the loo (no, it's not one of those kind of stories!:D) and I looked in the long mirror and thought I looked...okay! Actually, reasonably good in fact :o Now, bearing in mind the day I was having and the weight I need to lose etc, I was very surprised by this. I didn't seem to look that different to 'before' (even when I lifted my top up to peek at my belly!). I know this isn't true as the tape measure and my clothes tell a very different story but surely a school mirror isn't one of those cheating ones you get in shops that make you look lovely? I don't really have a mirror at home to compare it too, so guess I'll just have to keep looking in this one :D

Hope everyone has a great day xx

EDIT: that's a good point, where is Lois?

Trust in the midst of England snatching defeat from the jaws of a draw that we are ok. I cant belive it, truly gutted, in fact I couldn't watch it after we got back to 2-2 as they started to defend instead of attackig, which we seemed more comfortable doing. FA press conference at 9.45am, I wonder what will happen???

Anyway advice needed or reassurance at least............

As you may or may not know I am studying this week for an IT exam next week, I booked the exam and can move it if need be. Need to score 85% to pass.

although I am studying, due to budgetry constraints, I was not able to go on the course, so am studying from a book and using the vendors Computer based training.

As you can guess finding it very though, not even half way through, this i due to me been distracted  having a bad morning and writing probably too many notes. Also have to factor in I have the children this weekend, so no oppertunity to study then.

Exam is next Monday lunchtime, I can move it, should I move it? Only by a couple of days. Whenever I do this sort of thing, I am concerned that my boss would see me in a bad light, although I am taking control and saying I need more time.

    What do you think?

  • Morning all - a 'bit' of a wobbly week for me this time around and am ashamed to report in with a 4lb gain :( Don't get me wrong, I know exactly where it came from as all I've done this week is eat and drink anything and everything thats had the misfortune to come across my path. Needless to say the cat has been avoiding me......!!;)

SO - back to day one today, I worked extra hard in the exercise session at RC last night, have got hips, bums and tums tonight and will do my Davina DVD over the weekend as well as dusting off my stepper. I need to get my concentration back - I thought I was okay last night after WI but it got me really down before I went to bed so I'm trying to rebuild my determination!

On the plus side, we did waist measurements last night and I've lost 2" in four weeks so something is working right!!

Congrats to all the losers, well done Anic fabulous loss this week :T and thankyou Delly for doing the chart for us  . I'm off to the norty corner now - do you think we need to send a search party for our Lois?

    JM xx

EDIT: Suggs, I think you should do what you feel is right - I am currently doing exams for work and I know the pressure that they involve. I don't think your boss would think anything bad of you - and he may even respect you even more for having the guts to say 'I don't feel quite ready I'm going to take the extra time thats available'. Whatever you decide it'll be the right choice ;)

  • To be honest, I'd move the exam.. Like you say, you're taking control! If anyone questions it, just explain you felt you needed more time... Your boss should be happier that you're thinking sensibly about it, rather than panicking to try to be ready for Monday, and then maybe not doing as well as you should have done.

I hate revising for anything, so good luck!

Had a bit of practice with exams suggs...best to be honest with yourself...if you had a few more days how much would you in fact learn? I have had study days in the past where I have had a complete mental block and other days where I've learned more than the whole week put together.

If you don't think you can cram much into an extra few days then it probably won't be worth it....Is there a practice exam? or examples that you can use against the clock as a form of practice?

That should give you a good indication...also look at how you revise...I'm 26 and have only just left the education system and I have noticed over the years that revision technique is a valuable tool....Thats why GCSES are such a shock...noone ever takes the time to teach you how to revise!!

I think if you could do a few practice examples..even if you make them up yourself then that will give you a better judge of your abilities...I will say though that extending your revision period might help but if the extra day or two are going to be spent in the same manner of distraction then you'll feel a lot worse....

Sorry if that doesn't make much sense....
  • hi

Good to know that you are feeling better Bails. Goodluck for the exams Suggs, its a long time since I have done any kind of exams but I can see what Serendisglare is saying. If a few more days will make a lots of difference in your preparation/revision, you will be better off moving them.
Hope the tablets work well for you Victory. Every medicine comes with side effects but not everyone gets all of those nasty side effects, hopefully you wont get any of those. Some of the doctors have a funny way of explaining things though. All my life I have been scared of injections and needles but irony of fate is that now I have to give my daughter injections daily. We were doing ok with insulin pens but last time Dr. suggested using syringes (so that I can mix longlasting and fast acting insulins according to her needs everytime) for a better control. And in the end same silly question "are you happy with that?" how can I be happy with that!....
    Thanks for the chart Delly.

Thanks to you pixiedust, justmarried, serendisglair and tiby :)I took the pre-assesment questions and scored 34% I do have pratice exams as well.

As an update I have rung and left a message with my boss, that I am struggling and would prefer more time. Only half way through the CBT/Book and with the children at home this weekend, it would make things difficult. I forgot to mention that its taking so much time as I am writing up loads of notes, perhaps too many! But then I have never done an exam without doing the course first.

Never mind georgiebrown0 :) Big hugs, I guess the Going for 2lb reference is a loss not a gain ;)

  • Don't be disheartened suggs...34% is a good starting point and now you'll know more of what to expect...

If you can take the extra time as I think you'll certainly increase this...
my dad always said that if you can't write it on a matchbook then don't write it at all...I am a copious notetaker as well and it can delay matters....

Try reading a section...try to summarise the section read it again to see if you got all the points in and then condense it further...then do a practice q on that section and see how it goes....The act of trying to remember and write stuff down does help stuff sink in....

Making notes a small as possible also helps as you don't fall into the trap of copying stuff down....

if you can summarise a paragraph into one sentence then you know you can do it!

If there is any terminology to be learnt maybe your kids can test you? turn it into a game?

most crucially though...dont' stress too much and have a regular break!
