  • hi all, i'm off the wagon and i really don't know why. Just totally made a pig of myself over the last couple of days. I promise that tomorrow morning is day one and i will be good - OH is away so i can eat SW carbonara and sw fish and chips to my hearts content. Think i'm having a bit of a moment because we're going away with oh's family in feb - going to benalmadena. Thing is i don't do beach holidays, i won't wear shorts, or swimsuits or any of that stuff because i just don't like the way i look so feel i shouldn't inflict it on anyone else. Why are our psyches so complicated? Oh, and please keep the chart going throughchristmas, it does force me to weigh in even when i'd rather skip it so it's v helpful.

Suggs, secret santa is a fab idea! I'd be up for it, i really enjoyed the swap boxes and it would be a similar thing. Does anyone want to step up and organise this one?

Yes them both going, its all part and parcel of the motivation :) Because we are all going to need it in the New Year :) Would suggest the challenge runs until Wednesday 19th December so there is time for Christmas fun and frollicks :rudolf: Then perhaps restart the Challenge January 2nd? What do you ladies and Ajax think???...

I'm in full agreement with you Suggs, it will be so easy to go off the rails as the reason that most of us are here is because we're weak willed :o ...

I'd be happy to voluteer to organise the secret santa :D

Delly, do you and efrieze need a break over the busy Xmas period from doing the chart? If so I'd be happy to do it for Dec as Xmas has virtually no impact on my life so I wouldn't be rushing around trying to do twice as much as usual.

I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

  • Pet I know you're worried bnout falling off the wagon and undoing all your good work but I think you need to have some faith in yourself... stick to your weekly weigh in...if you gain a few pounds it will show and then you just go back to healthy eating for a while until you are back to normal and you can forget about food once more...if you keep this up then soon you'll find you'll find a natural balance....

To real your end goal and have your enjoyment marred by food paranoia is a waste of your life...you deserve to enjoy yourself and if you can have a little faith in your ability to control it then you'll have a new lease of life.

why not have a few practice weeks...maybe at least one day this week you should not think at all about food...still make informed choices but dont' deny yourself something just becasue it was previously off limits!...then see how much of an impact it has...then reign it back and see yourself go back to normal....do you see what I'm saying?

Just logged on properly since the chart was published. Thanks again Delly for that.

Can I add my name too to the list that would like it to keep running in December if that is okay. I find it a great motiviation and felt a bit left out when I was "on it" but not really "included" so to speak when I was only getting weighed at the docs once a month. I felt I was "cheating" with a big loss all at once and no report for the other three/four weeks.

Victory - so sorry your photo shoot didn't go quite as well as you would have hoped. Hopefully the pictures will look good when they arrive.

Pet - remember tomorrow is another day - you'll be back on the wagon soon.

Aw Suggs - well done and congratulations on your 1000th post.

You are a great inspiration to load on here and it is great that most of your time has been here

Suggs1000, that was definitely a frisky reply :rotfl: I love your quote "The ladies are saying the mens changing rooms are lovely" - don't hear that often! 864... the bar goes ever higher!... good luck with the rugby this weekend. So should I change my username to Missy32F? :p

As for Christmas, it seems to me there's a clear personal choice to be made, either you're going to relax your weight losing (totally or partially), or you're going to continue it right through.

If you plan to relax things you can plan ahead how you're going to offset any consequences. It's still a month away so put in some extra effort now, see if you can get ahead and give yourself a buffer. Schedule in a long walk on Boxing Day, have a detox day in the middle of Christmas and New Year so you don't totally lose focus. If you know you're likely to start shovelling in the Quality Streets, work out a way you can distract yourself in advance. Have fruit baskets around and lots of convenient, healthier options that you can snack on. I'm sure others have loads of suggestions to stop anyone going completely off the rails? Not that I'm saying there's anything wrong with going off the rails if that's what you choose - just have a strategy for getting back on track! Maybe putting something in writing to yourself would help.

If you're continuing (like me), nobody's Christmas is going to be ruined if you say "no thank you" to some food and nobody will care if you're still keeping a food diary. I am expecting comments like "oh come on, it's Christmas!" but I will stick to my guns. I'm a lot of things but weak willed isn't one of them :p. Food isn't the be all and end all of Christmas, there are plenty of other ways to celebrate. My family can pig out all they want, I'm going to be playing games with the kids, taking photos, talking to relatives I don't see often, etc.

I hope this post has come across OK, it's just suggestions, and obviously everyone's circumstances and idea of Christmas is different.
