yep - needs to give a dose of tough love.Humdinger1 said:A grown man earning 60k and with a substantial inheritance? I can hear an orchestra of tiny violins tuning up! NM needs to man up. Sorry i know that sounds harsh but really!
Lets get a reality check on this
60k a year self employed yet has not paid tax in 3 years
82k inheritance now down to 50k due to paying off historic debts and dipping in as he has overspent however still not getting his tax up to date.
quite happy to reside in my box room until he is ready to be a big boy as he can get a roof over his head and dinner in his belly for £50 a week and blow the remainder of his wages on GWG and clothes that make him "appear" rich.
His ex is dragging him through courts to see his kids for no other reason than to make him spend money on something other then himself and part of me doesn't blame her for it !!!!!!!
Do you want to join me in blowing up the balloons for the pity party?

I set the amount , however I also said that the stay was short term - I kept it low to help him sort himself out
Had I known he would not use the oppurtunity I would have set it much higher!!
He could however pay me 5 times as much and it wouldnt change how i feel about the situation1 -
Of course you set it at that amount with absolutely the right intentions, it’s not your fault in any way that he is playing you

Not an expert but when you think it through, 3 years income tax could potentially wipe out his remaining inheritance

yep , when he arrived in march i suggested it was the 1st thing he got sorted , for obvious reasons , if you want to rent or buy a house you need up to date books......................9 months later its still outstandingNewstartforme said:Not an expert but when you think it through, 3 years income tax could potentially wipe out his remaining inheritance
And then theres the tax which will become due next year.....................that hasnt been put away either !!1 -
So MC is self-employed? I'd suggest that he runs, not walks, to the nearest competent accountant. If he starts getting paperwork together now, an accountant could save him serious sums. Oh hang on though, there's an irresistible heap of sand over there, ideal for head-burying. Yes, I will certainly help you blow up balloons for his party @efes_shareholder. Let me just put down my baton as the orchestra of tiny violins doesn't conduct itself. Love Humdinger xx1

Another one here that thinks you have gone over and above to accommodate him and more than patient.Honestly if it was me, I would now be threatening to kick them both out at the end of the month, I understand your partner is trying to support his son but it’s at your expense and he also now needs to realise how seriously this is impacting your life.

Agree with @1stTimer. I'm sorry to say it but NM should have your back here. It's not that help might be needed, it's the manipulation that's the worry. I wonder what MC'S mother thinks?0
