lucielle said:Hope the house listing goes live today for you. We're waiting to complete on a house but it has been a nightmare with one thing and another. Also wondering how much the utility bills are going to be when we get in.

just emailed the agent as he said this morning
Another house ha,s just gone live on the neighbouring road and we are cheaper so thats good news.
I think we are slightly overpriced but the agent says we will know within a few weeks and it leaves room for offers. His advice was we could list it for 20k less and still get offers 20k under that.

Oh my. How much it's all changed. I am surprised you have put your mums house on the market. Just constant change going on for your whole family. I don't think you've wasted time. It is difficult to know when your certain on your decisions and what to do. You could have put it on sooner and had more confidence in selling but felt more uncertain about if selling it was the right thing to do. You can only work on the information you have. Plus it's not just you - you and your sister both have to agree which you haven't until now. I think it will all be great. People always need somewhere to live. Good luck with your listing.I have had an idea for the energy thing and it reeks of posh snob but if you can do it I think it's a good idea. I was working out the cost of a personal loan to buy solar panels and it would be less than what I am paying monthly for my electric at the moment. I am scared of it all. I have never spent more than £70 a month on both. Now I am paying more than double and I think it's going to double again in October. Could this work for you on your new house? I know this isn't a unique idea but I haven't heard anyone else talking about it. It is making me feel like I can weather it all more.I hope you've had lots of fun with your kids for the 30th and the wedding planning fun xxxLoan 1 £5200/£8000
Loan 2 £300/£5800

It will probably cost me a small fortune to change my mortgage and I'll probably get hit with a worse rate but I'll have to see how I go with that one. I've factored it in to what i need the house to acheive and right now its seems doable.
The house needs to drop value by 25% for that to change so I'm not overly concerned
I've considered solar panels but I think there is some kind of stipulation that the energy providers are actually leasing your roof from you , its something to look in too. The ninja device is keep our usage down and good job I have a collection of candles to light the house come the winter !!! Also going to invest in a USB charged fleece throw and sit in that in the winter
Hoping something is done before our pensioners freeze to death0 -
feeling stupidly anxious this week , everythings getting so close , the economy is changing just as we decide to sell mums and although there is lots of leeway for me to still do what I need to do , I can't help overthinking everything and getting a bit out of my depth with anxiety.
NM assures me it will be fine , any problems we will find a solution - hes right I know he is but right now I want to get in to bed , roll up in to a ball and forget the world.
Earnt myself an extra £40 on saturday giving out passes to the event , pretty much spent that being there but it basically paid for our attendance , NM worked a 12 hour shift and got extra but he does security which is much more of a challenge.
I must have done ok , the organiser has asked me if I would like to do the next one , although it isn't overly productive with the earning it does pretty much pay for the night out as you only need to do it as people are arrivi
Also if the guy does build events up and do little breaks and holidays , it may pay to be on the staff as this leads to other perks.
Drove to mums yesterday to gift the wheelchair to a friend in need , they insisted on giving something for it although I didnt want anything they left £20 on the table which will cover the cost of my fuel and a little more but I was more then happy to just do a good deed , got on the scales whilst I was there - did not like what they said !! I have 4 weeks until the holiday so I'm going to try and lose some
NM has gone to the extreme and is just having one green smoothie a day ( spinach , kale , avacado , banana and a few other delights ) , a protein shake and then just water - I dont think I am as brave as that but the difference in him is noticable.
all that rest after the operation has certainly shown and I am officially on a wine ban.
Sister has gone to visit my cousin who has an air bnb in the country - my mums sister has taken a downturn in health recently and they are suspecting that she has the same cancer that took mum , I'm hoping it isn't as its too soon and also a bit concerned that that is 3 siblings of 6 all struck with the same disease - thats really not going to help my health anxiety subside.
Talking of health , my right side pain continues , it halted after the operation but its back with avegance , I need to remember to call the doc from 8am tomorrow for some kind of consultation as I was recently signed off from the dietician and she told me if things continued then to go back to my G
Last bit of news , I am off to visit my dad in October , it worked out ok younger daughter was wanting a holiday , I didnt want her to go alone but can also do without spending out on a holiday , I suggested we visit my dad in spain , my elder daughter and fiance want to come - my dad has suggested we all go to the nearest coastal resort for a little holiday together and has kindly paid for all our hotel stays half board , its only 3 nights but I'm looking forward to that.
My younger daughter pointed out that my 2 entitled neices have never been to visit him , I find that rather sad.
Finances are looking ok this month , managed to put £700 in to my savings however as I bought a hoover and put a deposit on the sofa the credit card bill is looking a bit high , I currently have £550 in my current account and £70 cash in my purse. I have a free ticket for a festival on saturday and a charity all day event on sunday which will probably wipe that £70 out but other then fuel and food I dont really have anything else needed.
August is wage review month , I am hoping with all the cost of living crisis etc to maybe have a rise or at least an additional bonus as they have done in the last few years but I guess we can just cross everthing for that one.0 -
I am so anxious about everything that's going on. I think that that's normal. It's the calm people that are odd in my book. In my experience it's the women that are taking it seriously and the men who are oblivious. Probably where it impacts women more than it does men.
I think you're making smart moves to protect yourself as much as you can. Fixing and reducing as many costs as possible. Home ownership protects you from the horrible rent rises that are going on. Reducing the amount you owe on your mortgage will really help.
There are alternatives on solar panels. You don't have to do the deals where you lease your roof.
I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that you get a decent payrise. Xxx0 -
Sorry that was me. Keeps putting me on the wrong account! XLoan 1 £5200/£8000

@kitten868 - always throws me seeing the other user name.
I'm sure more of the population is feeling quite anguished about the turmoil in the country at the moment , I guess we were warned that the recovery from covid would not be smooth but throw a war in too and its all the more a diabolical situation.
I barely travel anywhere working from home , I may pop to mums house which is a 20 mile round trip and to the shops and I'm still doing £30 in fuel , its bordering on ridiculous.
I'm keeping a close eye on our electric and gas use in the flat , its mostly standing charge - we are both quite conscious of leaving lights , tv's etc on so our usage is very small , I will quite happily cook via the steamer / ninja and microwave , shower rather then
Good news , we have a 2nd viewing on the house this weekend , the lady has sold to a first time buyer and the estate agent has told her a little white lie that an offer has been submitted but the people are unable to proceed at the moment , I'm keeping everything crossed that she wants the house. I have told my agent to express to her that we are open to offers.
I've paid the holiday balance today so along with the flights for four to see my dad ( which my kids will reimburse me for ) , hoover and sofa deposit my credit card is looking like its having a nose bleed.0 -
Our standing charge alone is £15 a month at 50p a day. I have no idea how they're justifying it.
Don't worry about the credit card. As you say you'll be getting money from their share anyway and I think the holiday is a great idea.
Fingers crossed on the second viewing! XxxLoan 1 £5200/£8000

the 2nd viewing cancelled and is yet to rebook
Another viewing today cancelled but then we got a last minute one come through so please keep everything crossed
we have dropped the price , the market seems very slow - we may need to drop further.
No news on my front , apparantly waiting on amended paperwork , If I read the papers I won't buy it but I feel like I've come this far - it will work itself out
Back in the office this week - not enjoying that but getting used to it.
Spent alot over the weekend , went to a free festival but the prices inside were abusive and you could not take your own.
Did an all dayer with NM on sunday , charity event , drank too much and that means over spending as we ate there too.
Counting down the days to the holiday , I so need it.
Been in a funny mood this week ,
Had a dr's appt and she perscribed me HRT gel , fingers crossed it works0 -
no feedback on yesterdays viewing as yet , i am so impatient aswell as indesicive as starting to think i maybe should have tried to hold on to it.
Saw my DR yesterday , sent me for a chest X ray and perscribed me with HRT gel. Some days I feel like I need it , other days I am fine , ,haven't started the applying yet but today I'm in a terrible mood.
NM has sensed something is up , I'm trying my best to decipher what is up !!! Hes mentioned several times recently that he could quite happily marry me , I had to remind him that he can't marry me as he has never actually got divorced , he then said he is looking to sort that out next year - time will tell , hes not great at getting things done.
Anyway , the thing thats bothering me isn't really his fault. He has a lot of female friends , in fact he has a lot of friends and I'm cool with that , I knew it when I got involved however there are 2 particular females , I really don't like !!! They were at the event he worked last weekend and neither makes any effort to talk to me or be introduced despite me standing there and are over to talk to him the minute I leave the scene to get a drink or speak to someone - It grates me , it isn't particulary his fault but since i know he will have the odd phone chat with them ( he isnt aware im aware of thisbut he has phone chats with lots of people) I really don't appreicate the allowance of such behaviour. Anyway hopefully it will pass , it is my issue but right now its bothering me and affecting my mood.
Anyway I digress , I'm also back in the office and finding the days so long and I dont think this is helping my mood , Im looking forward to hiding away at home again next week. The office is full of faces I don't know and the work/ home balance pedulum has swung against me.
Money isnt too bad - I put £20 in the car this morning and bought a tesco meal deal for lunch , our cupboards are getting barer at home in anticipation of the move happening !!
There isnt a lot else i need to pay out for which is good news although i am sure i wont want to spent the whole b/h weekend in the flat0
