  • its been an appalling week.
Started with finding the back windscreen of my car smashed ! no explaination other then vandalism - there was a party going on across the way on a thursday night ( yes , seriously a thursday ) I parked the car up around 8pm and it was fine , NM came home from work approx 12.30 and it was fine but by the next morning it wasn't.
Soon learnt not as simple as getting a replacement , its a soft top so the whole blasted roof needs to be replaced so have to go through insurance. a new roof is @ least 2.5k and completely pointless. Am expecting the car to be written off but have found somewhere who will supply and fit for 1600 so it may not be a complete disaster. Just felt completely overwhelming at the time.

had a lovely couple of days away with NM , blighted that since we got back he has tested positive for covid so our plans this weekend are scrapped and my anxiety is at an all time high as he hasn't had the jab. hes also not a great one for taking medication and prefers to use natural remedies , so far he is insisting he is fine and seems to be , this version really seems ultra contagious so just hope nothing changes drastically in the next few days.

What a pain about the car! People can be so horrid.
Don't worry about NM. You don't need the stress.
I hope you find someone else to go to the football with you x

  • the car is a complete pain , particularly as it is so unnessercary - I'm seeing it as a targeted thing , i dont have many enemies and certainly none who know where I am right now !!

NM seems to be over the worse of the lurgie very quickly , its a relief although hes going stir crazy at home and hopes to be out soon. Hes being well looked after but is maybe milking it a bit now.
tonight ( or should i say last night ) I cooked creamy lemon chicken from the pinch of nom book , surprisingly nice. Nm did offer to treat to me to a takeaway but I'll bank that offer for another time as tonight I didnt mind cooking.

its mothers day and it feels tough already , I'm seeing my girls next week and in view of their journey time to get here and the absurd fuel costs now I've told them not to worry about driving over to take me to dinner , we can have it next week. Resturants are always stupidly busy and service poor anyway and with it being the first one without mum I really don't know how I am going to feel. I'm just not really feeling like its a celebration this year , rather a gaping hole and time for reflection. I'm still so angry that cancer invaded us and its impact on mum.
  • the car was supposed to be collected yesterday , it wasn't but i am assurred it will be today.
just more inconvenience but nothing I can do about it

NM is pretty much over covid but appears to have got very used to being waited on and fed freshly cooked prepped dinners full of goodness , today we have beef and sweet potato stew. He keeps saying he will wash up ( I think I have done it every day for the past 3 weeks and cooked) so I have left the latest pots for him to do. I am under his roof and am happy to pull my weight and contribute to costs but I dont want to feel like a skivy ............if he is well enough to be considering returning to work tomorrow he is well enough to rinse a few plates !!! Fine line though as I'm aware the virus can be a bit of a joker and strike you back down again just as you are starting to feel a bit better in yourself.
My daughter also has the virus , as does her fiance , my cousin , and my eldest nephew , it seems like if you have avoided it the last 2 years its going to get you now!!

I had a go at filling out Inheritance tax forms on sunday but messed them up , i know what the figures should say but the way they want to arrive to that figure is like a maths A level and I am a bit number blind. They will have to wait for NM to return to work as i need total silence and he seems to have to have back ground noise even if its videos with low volumne on his phone. It is parked for now. They just fry my brain but they need to be submitted before an application for probate can be made. We don't need to pay any tax but we do need to fill out the forms to tell them that !!

I'm trying to get a dr appt or at least phone consultation for the aches and tingling and pins All that is then left is a very small balance of BNPL for some jeans on very , i find it easier to use this when I need something as I dont need to pay until I have tried stuff on and decided whats to be kept but its minimal payments so if I make a fw bigger ones it will be gone by may/june time - Either way I'm in a good place to go forward with my mortgage application when the time comes.

Thought of you this mother's day. Hope it was as minimally painful as possible.

There will be a day for the inheritance tax form. You have been a super champ with all of this stuff so having a struggle with this bit is totally fine.

Glad NM is out the other side. As I told you mine dragged on for weeks. Definitely time for him to take over being a skivvy for at least a few days. Fingers crossed that the car gets picked up and gets fixed and you can get back to cracking on.

Totally brilliant you're debt free. I am never sure about BNPL. Feels a bit payday loan to me and I am never sure how many times they credit score you. Especially how quickly it's taking off with vultures. I have no evidence of this but just be careful. I think you're better off putting online purchases on a credit card. They definitely don't do credit checks with each purchase and still give you the breathing space for paying it off. Annoyingly I have closed down a credit card and it has had a negative effect on my credit score. Apparently I need to have £15k in available credit to peak my score. I don't want that much credit and I am not making any more applications when I am hoping to apply for a mortgage.

    Keep going lovely lady xx

  • the car has been collected for assessment and i have a little 71 plate gutless courtesy car but am grateful

it needs fuel , will drip feed it as no idea how long i will have it.

am not quite debt free yet but the end is near in sight , hopefull this month
get what your saying about easy to all back in but the collection and returns works well for me right now - it is a habit i need to loose though as it doesn't break those habits
  • It’s looking like the car will be written off

the repair will cost over 5k and the car value is just 6
it’s ridiculous considering it is literally just a pain of glass in the hood

don’t really want to buying a car right now
  • payday , always the favorite day of the month.

did a shop yesterday , our weekly shop seems to be about £60 but we do eat well with plenty of fresh meat and veg and avoid processed packaged food so i guess thats a factor , today there is a chilli in the slow cooker , going to also attempt my first filo pastry fish pie at some point.

choices to make on the car , due to the increase in car prices particulary 2nd hand I should get back around what i paid but in no rush to hear from the insurance as then i have to make a choice and give the loan car back.
i can get the roof fixed for 1600 but it will take 6-8 weeks for the roof to be made and delivered , right now i dont use the car too much and i do have the operation coming where i cant drive , but its highly inconvenient - i can use nm's spare car I'm sure so if the offer to buy it as salvage is appealling then maybe i will take this route as ultimately replacing it will require further outlay.

  • I am sending love, cars are a moneypit! Good the NM has a spare car!

I do enjoy payday though, nice to feel rich for 24 hours!

    xx
