Crazy Cat Lady Chapter 3 - A New Beginning

Evening all :hello:
The rain has arrived, and it is freezing rain as well. I'm pleased I'm indoors and snuggled in my pyjamas with the heating on
I did manage quite a good sleep last night - I was awake for an hour or so a couple of times, but I'd gone to bed before 10 and was still in bed after 7am, so am feeling a bit more refreshed than I have done recently.
Popped into town this morning for some bread, and also decided to treat me and bestie to Costalot as I had points on my card so I got that for free. Then went over to hers for a couple of hours for a much needed catch up.
Got home at lunchtime and did another couple of hours of present wrapping while I could be bothered. Decided that while I was on a roll I'd have a go at making my Christmas sweeties. My rocky road looks ok but I have made a mess of the fudge - it's much more the consistency of tablet. Tastes good to me (I love tablet) but I'm not sure that it's suitable to give away as gifts to people. Can't decide whether to try again or not... Definitely not today, but I'll think about it. Apparently I must have overworked it to make it go like that, but I followed the recipe to the letter.
Unexpected visit from one of my other best friends later in the afternoon as well. I don't see her much as she lives an hour away, but she was local doing a bit of shopping so popped in for an hour. It was really fantastic to see her
Now I'm settling down ready for the night, pleased that I don't have to go anywhere or do anything for the rest of the evening. It's really awful out there at the moment...Not giving up

Regarding the fudge/tablet - call it tablet and give it away, I'll bet it's lovely and you're just being self-critical - or save it for yourself as a well deserved treat. I've just made a double batch of chili jam - the first lot got eaten - and my eyes are stinging from the boiling vinegar. I have toffee vodka to do next and some spiced nuts and then nothing til mid'week.
So good that you are getting proper support from all the authorities and that it is useful support too. I hope the 'talking to' has resonated with ExOH and that you, DS and DD can start to feel a bit more relaxed. Enjoy your evening.LD 12.25 £1600.00/£0700.00 Fn £274.00 LTFn £525 LLTFn £300

Hello
I don't know what's wrong with me today - I'm utterly exhausted. Think it must be last week catching up with me, and maybe the stress of what I think next week at work will be like. I'm actually dreading getting through the next five days.
DD has been saying it doesn't feel like Christmas. I don't know if that's because she's getting older, because the home situation has completely changed, or because there's been no true winter weather. I go through spells of feeling festive, followed by spells of getting totally stressed out and worrying about being a bad mother, as always. She has spent the afternoon wrapping presents for her friends, while I've bottled up my plum and blackberry gin and boxed the tablet. We are slowly getting there, and we're all going to watch Elf together in an hour or so - I hope we will be fully festive after that. :xmastree:
I've booked an online shop for next week, which will hopefully do us for much of the festivities - I can't bear the thought of actually going into the shops at the moment. I'm too introverted for lots of people. Just 5 more school get ups and all will be well. I still have some wrapping to do though - it's for the kids so I need to do it when they're busy doing something else. Not had time or inclination today. Went out this morning to do some tutoring and earn a bit of cash to pay for my cleaner tomorrow. Got home and almost had a snooze on the sofa before I made myself get up and do something.

CCL, you shouldn't worry about being a bad mother, because you really are not! Plenty of other things to worry about unfortunately, but you should at least cross that one off your list0

Sometimes when you are having to deal with circumstances that are stressful , the shock of it can catch up with you afterwards and leave you feeling drained.
