How very productive of you. And I hope you got a decent chunk of tv surfing and sofa dwelling.

Wednesday! You can see the finish line... you can do it!

Do you chuck the kids out at 12.30 like ours do on Friday?

I would make a rubbish teacher. i would end up doing the science of sparklers, why logs crackle, how those radio controlled helium filled sharks work, and how to make proper exploding crackers. Which is why I have to stay away from other people's kids as I am a dangerous liability.
I did languages, which is a total cop out, as the last week was always singing carols 'in foreign' and having a party with traditional foods and discussing what was different in our celebrations. Can't get away with that in Maths or Science.

So huge congratulations on making it this far, and I am sure you will find out which bauble the cat trashed to make the noise.

  • Evening everyone :hello:
What a strange day. I was taking my smartest chemists to visit a uni today, for a Christmas lecture. On public transport. It all went very well until it came to getting back to school. One student lost their phone, then I got split up from my first aider and most of the class when we went back to look. Thankfully his phone was still there, but we then missed the metro back to school and everyone else got on it. The good news is that everyone got back to school safely and nobody was hurt and nothing was lost, but I was mighty stressed for a while. Had a bit of a headache by the time I got back, but was just in time to scrape my Year 9 class off the ceiling in the last 10 minutes before lunch. They had been giving their supply teacher a very hard time indeed and there were felt tip pens all over the floor. Needless to say, my room was tidy before they went. Survived the afternoon. 2 more get ups and 4 lessons to teach. They are letting us out at half past 12 on Friday f0xgl0ves - unfortunately though ds isn't out until half past three so I can't get an early finish. I need to entertain myself for 3 hours in the town I work in so I can pick him up - then we can head home and holidays can commence.
Got home from work and dd's silver shampoo had arrived, so she went off to see if she could make her hair grey, and it didn't work. So we're now on with the toner, and I have everything crossed that I can possibly cross hoping that this will at least partly make her hair the colour she wants it to be. I could cry that I paid over £80 of her Christmas money for her to have it done at the hairdressers and she doesn't even like it. It's been a further £18 so far trying to get it more grey. Not too much longer to wait and see what happens. It's been a long half term and I feel very tired for having to do all this extra stuff after work... dealing with lots of tears over a failed hair colour is more than my brain can process just now.
Nothing much else to report other than wanting to curl up and sleep. Can't be bothered to crochet tonight, but I might have a read before I go to bed. I need to finish crochet jam jar covers...

Sorry, I must have missed something.
Why does your DD want her hair to be gray?

No older people are grey anymore, so the kids are going silver and then dipping the ends/ chalking them in pastels.

Next they will all be congregated outside the post office and wheeling those shopping bags. The cost of stamp collecting will be the trending twitter, and moustaches and leather waistcoats be all the rage.

As a man in his 20's, I quite like the look but of course, as with everything, it'll be out of fashion by summer no doubt. I believe one of the Kardashian's started the trend.

I had always thought/hoped that my dd would not succumb to high fashion, peer pressure and being mortified by everything and everyone. Alas though, she is a teenager and follows the trends of being huffy, intolerant, rude, materialistic and fashionable among all of her amazing character traits (and thankfully there are many more of those). However, she wants her skin to be the colour of an Oompa Loompa and her hair to look like she's had a blue rinse. It's all the fashion you know (eyeroll). It's still not as grey as she wants but we're not going to do any better than we have unless she has more bleach on it, and I want her to wait a few weeks before that happens. She has beautiful, naturally blonde hair, all down her back and I don't want her to completely trash it...
Anyway, good evening everyone :hello: I've almost made it :j Just one more lesson, 2 hours with my form class and then free! I've had a lovely day today actually - the kids have been loads better and I think they can finally see the end in sight, as can I at long last. I feel a lot more positive, and a lot more hopeful and happy now I'm almost there.
The Head and Deputy Head came round the school this morning with a surprise for the staff. Lots of the students had written thank you notes for their teachers, and they were delivering them. I was really touched because I got a few messages across my classes and they were such nice, kind words. Almost had a few tears when I read them. We also had a little staff Christmas buffet at break time so all good stuff. I got a couple of presents as well - one from someone in my form class, and a bottle of fizz from one of my Year 11s. As I'm not a primary teacher it really means a lot when I get a card or present from one of my students. And at lunchtime the Head and Deputy Head came round with a trolley to serve the staff with tea/coffee and biscuits, which was also unexpected but really lovely. So I came home from work feeling quite a bit more positive than I have done recently - dropped a friend off in town and decided to pop into Mr T and buy a little bit of party food for my form class tomorrow as we were there anyway.
Got home just after 5pm to even more pleasant surprises in terms of the post:
    1. A gift for me and the kids from the lovely applemuncher (thank you)
    2. A letter from the child maintenance services telling me how much ex needs to pay, and it's more than I thought :T
    3. My decree nisi :j
Merry Christmas me :D:D:D I doubt ex will be as pleased to have received the same letters, but he should have played nice and played fair so we could have sorted this out amicably. I really didn't want it to turn out like this, but I'll do what I have to in order to look after the kids and myself to the best of my ability. Wonder if I should expect another drunken visit tonight... :( Hopefully he will have listened to the police and stay away but I have no clue how he will behave any more.
So, all in all a good day. I've had a sneaky little gin this evening (a gift from my head of year group) as a bit of a celebration but I'm not going to have another one, or stay up late. 10pm bed, good nights sleep and survive tomorrow.
I love days like today. :heartsmil
