Go you, CCL! 78 reports sounds like a significant achievement. Behaviour issues are such a drain, aren't they? I expect with all the new kids coming in, that it's affected peer hierarchies & caused a bit of jostling for position....as in 'Who' s harder than who? kind of a way. One foot in front of the other, Missis. Keep taking the salary & pushing through.....& as for Christmas, it doesn't have to involve spending heaps of money. Cosy ing up at home & enjoying films, inexpensive treats, games & just not being at bloody work will all be nice. Snuggle up.on that sofa in your jamas with a hot chocolate stirrer spoon thingy each for starters. Or get some bits & pieces & build your own epic hot chocolate. I'm conscious I'm suggesting cheap things that I'd like to do & so far they both involve chocolate! But no need to go mad with spending x

78 reports done and dusted

    Show off!:T

Oh no! Poor DS - my DS3 was complaining of a headache and stomach ache last night and 2 girls from his class were sent home with it yesterday, they were not at school today either. Something is doing the rounds.

Hope he feels better in the morning. Get a lemon-flavoured-paracetamol-based -drink (TM) down your neck (£land do 10 for £1 - not a ' &flu' one, - which is great for me as whatever decongestant is in those strong ones makes me tight-chested and wheezy!!) and stock up on throat sweets (w1lko do dead cheap ones). I have had to dose DH all weekend as he started to come down with man-cold. Do not surrender !!:rotfl:

And dark chocolate is good for coughs, so try a pre-emptive strike and have a cocoa!

    Fantastic result. Well done you.
And poor DS, headaches can be so debilitating. I can't quite remember what age he is but my DS1 started to get migraine headaches as he started puberty and they really floored him. He's growing out of them now (20) but they were pretty awful. I suffered from hormonal migraine too hand in hand with time of the month so perhaps he inherited it from me. It also might be worth considering an eye test as my optician said that some eye conditions can cause migraine. Hope he feels better soon.

  • Sorry to hear your DS is feeling poorly. Hope he's feeling himself today and managed to go to school.

And really well done on the reports too. No mean feat and I'm sure you'll feel better mentally knowing that they are out the way.

    How's YNAB?
  • Well today didn't go exactly as planned, but it was right enough. DS got up last night long enough to eat some tea then went straight back to bed - woke me up at 2am in tears with his headache. He is loaded with cold bless him. So at half six I woke him and asked how he was feeling, he said he was better but his head still hurt a bit. I told him to go back to sleep, and that I would need to pop into work for an hour to sort out cover etc. Got there to find out someone else in the department had phoned in sick but my Head of Dept and the Head were really keen that I went straight home. I didn't have much cover to set as there were visitors in school today doing some chemistry stuff for 3 of the lessons. However, the sick person had left 31 Year 11 reports undone, and with the deadline today I 'volunteered' to bring them home and do them as I'm not officially sick but needed as mam rather than teacher. Came home via Mr T for more Calp0l and flavoured water for ds (his favourite to keep him hydrated). I was quite pleased in the end because I am also loaded with cold today so definitely not feeling the love with work at the moment.
DS was still asleep when I got home so I cracked straight on with getting the reports written and they were done by lunchtime. Made us some lunch (and more calpol plus day and night nurse for me) and we watched a couple of Christmas films, snuggled on the sofa with his quilt and a couple of cats. It's been nice, and after another nap he seems to be feeling a lot better so I'm hopeful he'll be back to school tomorrow, and hopeful I will be ok to go as well.
I haven't gotten a lot else done to be honest - I'm also tired and wiped out with my cold so have enjoyed snuggling and tv watching. I'm just about to do some oven chips for tea (mother of the year :rotfl:) as both kids have asked for chips and gravy...
Speky, I don't use YNAB any more - I took a huff with them when they took £85 from me 2 months in a row when I couldn't afford it and have refused to pay them now. It's a shame because it was working brilliantly for me but I just can't afford that level of mistake every month and all the hassle of losing my money and waiting for it to come back.
  • Ugh. I am sick. On top of my heavy cold and streaming nose and eyes, some delightful school child has shared their sickness bug with me. It started about 9pm last night and I put it down to my extremely healthy dinner of pate and crackers, but has now continued all through the night to the point where I can barely hang onto a glass of water. I shouldn't be surprised really. There has been something going round at work for a few weeks, and our place really likes to hang onto kids if they can. I have personally been witness to kids puking on the floor, in bins, all over the desks and all over themselves as well. One kid this week went for an attempt at redecorating the classroom and himself by getting vomit literally everywhere. It was surely just a matter of time.... so whilst my immune system was preoccupied dealing with this cold then the other bugs sneaked in and destroyed my digestive system overnight... :silenced:
Unsurprisingly I have called in sick at work. At least I got the reports written, but I have a lot of guilt about not being there. DS is loads better and I need to get him into school so I've packed the car with sick bags and am attempting the drive. I will then sleep until I have to go and collect him later and hope I feel more human by then.

  • Aw man that's rubbish. Hope you're feeling better soon CCL.
  • Got a phone call from my solicitor's secretary this morning on the way home from dropping ds at school, to cancel my Monday appointment. I could have cried. I know that everything is moving quickly in the real world but it feels like for ever and a day to me, and I keep waking up at 4am all stressed and angry at ex because I'm paying for him to ignore everything. Anyway, I've rearranged it for this afternoon before I pick up ds from school. God knows if I'll make it but I'm pretty desperate so I'm going to try. I've needed some answers and progress for some time now so I need to do what I can.
But first a nap. Wish me luck please...:cry:

Oh bless you. So sorry to hear that you've been so unwell, and with all the rest of the stuff too. At least DS is on the mend so that's a bright spot. Lots of rest, fluid, staying warm and christmas movies on the tv if you can. Sending you the best vibes.
