Crazy Cat Lady Chapter 3 - A New Beginning

Gosh, I am really feeling old now Speky, that the young uns don't know what a foil hedgehog is. They were a staple of every party I ever went to as a kid :rotfl:
Surprise, another long day at work. Nothing much to report - no time to be out spending money anywhere, busy teaching and a meeting after school. Now I'm home, snuggled in my jammies in front of the telly. It's rained all day and been utterly miserable so I'm pleased to be done for the day.
Not even really time to think or stress out about stuff that's going on. I'm sure it will all catch me up at about 4am.You are right though f0xh0les, I will get there sooner or later. And it's Decree Nisi day tomorrow so that's a small victory

I was remarkably upbeat and excited about the whole thing yesterday f0xh0les. I suspect it will sneak up and catch me at a later date, which is what happened when we first separated. For now though, it feels as though there may be an end in sight. If only that were the case with the finances, which ex is still ignoring. He finally contacted the kids last night after 3 weeks of radio silence, so I took the opportunity again to mention the outstanding paperwork to him and my forthcoming solicitors appointment. Not surprised, but very angry and disappointed that I'm still being ignored.
So pleased to get another week at work out of the way. The place is starting to become unbearable - too much change in a short space of time for me to feel comfortable with. I've had to bring a lot of work home with me this weekend as I have a lot of tight deadlines coming up and no time to get anything done. Everyone can shout at me later if I'm posting on here without having done any of my school work (a set of reports, 2 sets of tests to mark and a test to write).
Also have a reasonably busy weekend aside from that so it'll be a juggling act. I have 2 tutoring sessions, a much needed catch up with bestie, visit to my mam's and I need to put this blanket together and finish it. I will take the time to relax with bestie and my mam as much as I can because everything else will be hectic.
So, on that note, I am going to make a list of everything I have to do here - because that will keep me accountable and I'll feel better ticking stuff off.tutoring 1
tutoring 2
catch up with bestie
catch up with my mam
write y7 test
write y11 reports
mark 2x y9 tests
put recycling out
3 loads of washing
finish last blanket square
assemble blanket
blanket border
washing up
tidy up
hoover through
track everything I eat
sort fridge
That is a massive list but I will feel lots better if I can cross some of it off.Not giving up

Yay to Decree Nisi
Thats a list and a half - maybe you could break down some even further so you feel like you are achieving more - I'm thinking the tests that you need to mark, I bet thats at least 60+ papers - could you break it down by class or even half a class so you can do some and still cross them off your list?
Same as the reports - could you break it down in to 10's or 20's?
Have a great weekend0 -
Well done you.
Not going to shout at you at all - we all love a rebel 'round here.
I was one of 2 girl's with the same uncommon first name, in my year, so my school report often had subjects I did not take, as I am sure her's did too.
No idea about the 6 Clares and 8 Michelles - their reports must have been a nightmare.
Poor teachers! I would be perfectly happy with -
Intelligent child, making good progress. please provide a gag /handcuffs/ deododant (delete as appropriate) .
Have the kids made any plans to do anything / gift exchange, with their DF over Xmas? At least that way you can plan, and won't be wondering if there will be a knock at the door.
A small scale Xmas sounds good, as it will be different for the kids without him there, it is a period of adjustment.
I would love to go away from home, but the kids veto it, when I suggest it. They don't fancy a beach Xmas. - beaches do not come with Xboxes...4/10/25Three Years Mortgage Free Yay!

Hope you are doing well and congratulations (?) on achieving the decree nisi milestone.
I love a list, have at least three at the moment, but sometimes feel I/we need to remember that we control the list rather than letting it control us. Hope you get to to do some fun things too this weekend.LD 12.25 £1600.00/£0700.00 Fn £274.00 LTFn £525 LLTFn £300

Checking in with a progress report and update. No need for shouting at me though - writing the list motivated me to make a start.crazy_cat_lady wrote: »

I got a text message from my sister today as well, inviting me and the kids to hers for Christmas dinner this year. It was really unexpected, but very welcome. I think I've mentioned before that we had quite a big fall out on Christmas Day 4 years ago and things haven't really been the same since between us. I don't know if she's aware of just how much this invitation means to me, but it is very special, and I'm hopeful that it will be a fresh start between us. That now means we are busy on Christmas Day so I will be arranging for the kids to see their dad on Christmas Eve, if he wants to see them (God knows at the moment). However, if they aren't bothered then it will have to be effort made on his part because I will only take them to him if they want to see him - not if he wants me to bring them to him. If it's that important he'll find the motivation but I won't hold my breath.
I haven't done any crochet yet, but am just about to start - I have a Star Wars blanket in urgent need of completion. Note I am still putting off the year 11 report writing. You're right EE - I need to break that into smaller chunks as there are 78 to do.

Brilliant news about your sister CCL :j Really hope it's a new start for you both... life's too short etc etc.
Also great news about the decree nisi... it should only be 6 weeks to the decree absolute shouldn't it? One way or another he's going to have to face up to sorting the finances out, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this is a wake up call for him.
Your post brings it home as to why so many teachers take early retirement. If they then do supply work I guess they won't have this kind of 'extra' work to do.
Try and enjoy the rest of the weekend, Remember.... slow and steady wins the race. (((hugs)))I Believe.....
