  • Well done. You're really getting through this. I find the 'this too will pass' mantra very helpful at times when all you can do is keep putting one foot in front of the other. And fab about the observation, and the money not going out to BT.

  • Good evening :hello: Thanks all for being so kind - I'm still chuffed about how well the observation went. :D
I confidently predict that I will be asleep within the next couple of hours... I have never woken up properly today - so sleepy. But survived the day, ran the after school detention session and have made it home in one piece. Dropped a letter in at the solicitor on the way home so I can tick that off my list as well.
DS has decided that he's too busy to see his dad tomorrow (ds birthday). I had text ex earlier in the week to say that we were busy afternoon and evening tomorrow (no reply or acknowledgement) then ds contacted him earlier. Apparently ex is coming round tonight to drop off a card but ds has arranged to see him outside of the house when he gets here. He's very mature for 10 years old and I'm proud that he's done this. I will probably be asleep anyway - not even joking - but pleased that he's still able to make some arrangements with his dad without feeling obliged to do stuff and not getting me too involved in it.
I have a busy but hopefully enjoyable weekend ahead. Usual shopping and tutoring tomorrow, then out for food for ds birthday. Sunday more tutoring and visiting my mam.
As it's payday today I have gotten the money out to pay to have the bathroom wall fixed. Obviously I wish that I didn't have to do this but I do... It's being done on Monday.
Other than that - nothing to report. Survived work (just) and made it home. I'm in my nightie and settling in front of the telly, but as I say I expect I'll be asleep soon.

    Morning all :coffee:
You're more than welcome Purps. I bought my freebie gift, but keep forgetting to get the receipt out of the shopping bags in the boot of the car to do the next bit - but I am ready to make a start getting some cashback on grocery shopping :rotfl:
And hello Sally - thank you for saying hello :hello: It's always nice when people comment - so thanks to everyone that does :p
So, I had a complete day off from the laptop yesterday. Sometimes I just need to do that. I woke up very early and very groggy on Saturday morning with a very excited ds in my face wanting to open birthday cards. I was at MrS when it opened at 7am. :D Did some shopping there and then went to Aldee for the basics afterwards. Did my couple of hours tutoring then headed out with the kids to meet bestie and her ds for big celebratory birthday lunch and shopping (my kids birthdays are just 9 days apart so celebrations like that need to be joint events). I have a limited amount of 'spare' money this month but I did manage to get myself a bargain of a winter coat from my favourite clothes shop (with 15% off). Thanking bee tee for my 'payment not required' this month. I was going to chuck it all at the holiday but I haven't had a new winter coat for 4 years and I'm 2 sizes smaller than I was when I bought it so hopefully I'll look a bit smarter in the new one.
It was lovely to catch up with bestie, although brief, then her ds came to stay at ours for the night. Double whammy because she and her dh got a night out, and my ds got what he wanted for his birthday. I spent the evening relaxing in front of the telly, and finally finished my king size blanket I've been making for a friend for Christmas. I'm pleased - it's lovely and I've enjoyed making it, but I am pleased it's done. My next project is a couple of hats for someone I work with so hoping that will be much quicker. :D
However, I have quite a lot of stuff to do today before I can start hat making. I have another tutoring session this morning (don't fancy it but the money is really good), and I am going to visit my mam for a couple of hours after that. I'm still not planned with school work for next week either, and I don't want to be winging it next week - that's too uncomfortable a place for me to be - so I need to spend an hour or two sorting that out. Also have something I need to do for the exam board so it will be a busy day - but in a good way.
Oh, and I will be starting my plum and blackberry gin off. Bought my gin, obtained the fruit and then realised I had no sugar! So I'll be getting some of that while I'm tutoring then will sort that out at some point as well. Project home-made Christmas continues.

  • Well done for your observation/feedback - it's such a relief when they're over :) And for just surviving the week, you've had a lot on your plate for quite a while. Glad DS had a good birthday too and sounds like you have taught him well, a sensible lad.
A tech-free day is great, I am hoping to start using my little camper van more often (although not the best time of the year...) to disappear off for 24 hours and just chill in front of a campfire with a book.
