Would a hot bath help to ease some of the congestion do you think? Would also relax you a bit too.

And yay to the decree coming through

  • Morning all,
I slept over 8 hours last night and am finally starting to feel almost human. I still need an awful lot of medication to get through the day but hopefully it won’t go on too much longer.
Last day of travelling, when I get home tonight then that’s me done for the short term. I am trying very hard to talk myself out of a first class upgrade for the journey home. Not very frugal but I might be able to claim it as me eating expenses

  • Morning all :hello: :coffee:
I decided to stick with standard class yesterday as the train was really quiet and I got a seat easily, so I thought the £20 was better in my pocket and going towards the debt - quite proud of myself really.
Need to spend some time today going through my expenses and getting a claim in and on the go asap because I want my cash back. Finances are looking dire - not just because of being away, but I haven't been paid since 20th December and I don't get paid until Thursday, and I had to pay an extra £250 to the solicitor for more court fees (this time to sort out the finances) so everything's a bit tight,
On the plus side, I woke up this morning feeling ok and it was a good 10 minutes before I started coughing. I might finally be almost back to normal. I've spent a fortune on medication over the past fortnight (over £30) so it will be nice if I can get through the day without having to take anything other than the cough medicine. Good job also because the exam marking is properly taking off this morning so I will be busy for most of the day today doing that.
I've done myself a trusty list and will mix house stuff with school stuff with exam stuff and make sure I'm busy all day but mixing it up a bit so it's (hopefully) not too much. Best make a start then...
  • Lovely to hear that you're feeling a bit better. Although you may be spending a bit more than you'd like, it's all for unavoidable stuff. And you are making a conscious effort to save where possible (i.e. not upgrading your ticket). You've been here before, you'll get there.
  • Hello :hello: :coffee:
Sorry for the silence over the past few days, but I have 3 exam papers on the go at the moment as well as work, and as well as still having this blimming cough. I feel way better than I did but I am still not great - no hope of getting a doctor's appointment so I've relied on time and my own immune system to get better - it's just taking a bit of a while, and longer than I would like when I'm so busy.
I haven't had time to look at my finances or to put my expenses claim in just yet, but I'll probably get to do that over the weekend. I have no idea what's happening financially but I am desperate for payday tomorrow - it feels like forever since I actually got paid and had some money in the bank. Then the exam money should start coming in over the next couple of weeks so I'm looking forward to throwing some of that at my debts.
Less than 3 weeks till hols - no idea where the time is going to. Apparently my tickets are in (but again I've had no time to deal with it) so I need to make a bit of time over the weekend.
However, for now I just need to make sure that I get a bit more marking done and then some sleep.
I'll be back soon and definitely at the weekend.
  • Hope the cough goes away soon. Does your surgery do a worker's clinic on a Saturday morning? Might be worth popping along to one of those?

  • Hey :hello:
I'm having a night off from marking tonight as it's Friday - I have finished marking 1 of my 3 papers so I'm taking the rest of the night, planning to go to bed very soon and then getting on with things afresh tomorrow. Snow has finally hit us here in the North East and things are looking a bit dodgy for getting the car in and out of our street so I might have to have a day in tomorrow. I still have a lot of marking to do so it won't be a bad thing. Worst thing is that I haven't seen bestie for weeks between my illness and being away and I was really hoping to see her tomorrow.
So, I've gotten my expenses claim in as I didn't want to leave that any longer, and I've made all the usual payments from my bank account. Although it didn't feel like it at the time I think I cut back quite successfully in January, and whilst I'm still stony broke and in debt, it didn't feel as hard as previous months. Plus I should now be getting maintenance from my ex, although he hasn't done it yet so I think I'm going to have to contact them for Direct Pay, which will be another month.
I got a phone call from ds school today. Apparently he had been very upset at school - misses his dad. I am actually devastated - I thought he was doing ok, and I've never, ever stopped him from contacting his dad - he's just kind of disappeared off the planet while he's been ill and things have gone really sour between us, but he's still the kids dad... I want to cry that ds wants to speak to his dad and his dad has made no effort to stay in touch with him. I offered to ring for him tonight, but ds has said he will leave it for the moment and see how he feels in a few days. I've tried to reassure him that I won't stop him from seeing or speaking to his dad, no matter how I feel. DS is very pragmatic about it all, knowing that his dad is too ill at the moment to see him but it breaks my heart that ex is now making him feel the way I used to feel :( Ah well, I will do what I can, but I couldn't make ex interested in 16 years of trying so goodness knows what will happen next.
Things have also hit the fan a bit at work and it hasn't been the pleasant place it was over recent weeks. I was blaming my illness but the atmosphere is a bit sour there if I'm being honest. I'm all for keeping quiet and hoping it'll blow over, but I don't think that my boss feels the same and I think it's going to get worse before it gets better. Ah well. Ride it out.
OK. I'm off to bed, half nine on a Friday night - so I can be bright and breezy, I hope, in the morning.

Sounds like things are still tough on a lot of fronts.
