V1cks on the soles of your feet at bedtime and thick socks and go to sleep. No idea why it shifts a cough, but it does, someone told me to do it when the kids were babies, and it worked on them, so I do it now and a cough usually lasts 48 hrs in our house.
Hope you feel more human today. Lots of hot drinks. Keep hydrated.4/10/25Three Years Mortgage Free Yay!

Hello :hello: :coffee:
Recovery begins here! I woke up this morning (after an awful dream about ex moving back in) and felt almost normal until I sat up and coughed. That still really hurts - but on the plus side, I've only coughed twice since and I can almost control it
I'm not exactly raring to go, but I have an awful lot to do after the nothingness of the past three days. A list is always good for stuff like this because I feel as though I'm making progress.
- Put rubbish and recycling out
- Wash the pile of dishes
- Two loads of washing
- Plan next week's teaching and cover work
- Catch up with my penny payment savings
- Tidy up in the sitting room and kitchen
- Visit my mam for tlc
- Pack a couple of bags
- Get the kids to tidy their rooms
- Shower or bath later and relax
- An hour of exam based work
- Make a phone call I've been putting off (if my voice allows this - it won't at the moment)
- Rest as much as I need to
Not giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt
Time to take back control

If you are planning next week's teaching and cover work, does that mean that you are not going in tomorrow and will have more recovery time? Hope so.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0

Ah, unfortunately not apple. I have a couple of days off school this week so that I can attend exam related meetings. I'm teaching all day tomorrow. I think if I'm being completely honest I'm not quite ready for full time teaching but as it's not a full teaching week but a mixture of cover and meetings then I'll be ok. I'm definitely well enough to get stuff done - but life would be easier if I worked from home on my own hours at the moment :rotfl:
Not long back from my mam's - I've survived being out for a few hours, and feel ok but quite tired. Have made pretty good progress on other stuff too...

I've done way more than I thought I would, so I don't understand why I'm so anxious about everything. I feel like I haven't caught up and I'm not properly organised for the week ahead, but I've done loads. And I have the nagging voice telling me I've forgotten to do something and it's all going to go wrong. It's because I've had days of doing nothing at all so I feel like I should be doing more to get caught up rather than just writing it off and starting afresh. Not giving up

CCL - Look m'duck, I think it's two things. The first is that you do always have the tendancy to beat yourself up & the second is that you have been out of your routines. The feeling that you've forgotten to do something is a classic stress symptom because that little nagging voice of doubt in your head can't let you believe that you have actually functioned very well for someone who is recovering from a nasty virus & that you are all prepared for the week ahead.
It sounds to me like you should simply have a relaxing evening with your crochet, maybe a bit of TV, get an early night & deal with tomorrow as it unfolds.
And be kind to yourself. You've been poorly & won't feel back up to 100% for a few days.

It's been a while since I've been online and the last I was on you were starting to come down with something. I'm pleased to see that despite your illness, you're getting things done!! Very impressive effort this month, I must say.
That being said, don't overdo it whilst your recovering and I can empathise with the feeling of being behind when you've been flat on your back for a couple of days. Doing as you've done, making a list and scoring it off, should be one way to alleviate that concern.
Hope you feel better soon!0 -
Morning all,
Just a quick check in from my phone to say hello. I know I’m not properly better because I’m very tired and emotional at the moment. I had a lot of tears over nothing yesterday.
I went back into work yesterday - probably before I should have done if I’m being honest. Everything was a bit much but I’m so busy this week I just can’t be ill. Thankfully I feel better today than I did yesterday, so hopefully that will continue as the week goes on and I’ll be back to my old self before I know it. At the minute I’m just trying to ride everything out and survive.

Well done on going in anyway. Sometimes it's jsut easier to be there and somehow cope with the day than trying to set the work in your absence. Take care.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0

CCL - That's the trouble with these viruses, they never just 'go', it's a gradual process, which is why when we try & get back to normal, thinking we're a lot better, we feel wiped out by 3pm. So take it easy when you can. I know you are very dedicated to your job, but the school will not tumble down, not the sky fall in if you have a lunch break while you are getting back to full health......in fact, eating properly is important as your immune system sounds in need of a boost - plenty of fruit & veggies to boost those good gut bacteria. That's the problem with working with children & young people (I remember it well!), there are sooooooo many lergies doing the rounds & they spread like wonno, don't they?
Anyway, you went in, you are on the mend, but be kind to yourself while you get back to normal.
Bossy, aren't I?
