  • Morning all :coffee:
Gosh I am poorly sick _pale_ Yesterday I thought it was flu as it had come on so suddenly and I felt so awful but I now think it's just a heavy cold with a chest infection because I'm full of snot today. I am off work (which is stressful enough within itself as I'm already on attendance monitoring) but there's no way I could be in front of even my smallest classes at the moment, never mind a class of 34 screechy Year 7s. I got up to go into work yesterday but by the time I'd gotten dressed and fed the cats I felt dizzy and sick - so rang in then promptly fell asleep on the sofa for 4 hours. It never got much better than that - I couldn't be bothered with anything other than microwaving soup and watching telly. Couldn't even be bothered to take the rubbish out. I was in bed by 9pm last night and whilst I feel a bit better today I am now full of snot, very wheezy and still not able to exert myself very much so I rang in sick again. I plan to work from home (hence the laptop is out) and plan next week so I'm good to go as things are getting busy. Hope I'm well enough to keep up with school and exam work because I can't really afford to lose that money at the moment.
Moneysaving goes pretty well when you're ill. Didn't spend anything at all yesterday although I am going to have to try and get some more medicine today - I have almost run out of day and night nurse and ibuprofen. Can't face going out at the moment though.
Nothing else to report - just thought I'd check in before I started with some work from home...

Oh dear, CCL. Sorry to hear you have such a horrid lergy. Rest & plenty of fluids. Soup is good for bad colds as the steam helps decongest things a bit. Home made french onion soup is like medicine for such lergies but you sound way too poorly to make any. Take care of yourself & feel better soon.

  • Aha! the old teacher's immune system!! a moment of relief and happiness and your immune system stretched thin as it is took a moment to go ah she is happy she will cope if we !!!!!! off for a bit!
and then BAM you have the plague and spend a week thinking you might die and another week hoping you will die.

    Fun times. NOT.

    rest and rest and tea.

    Nevertheless she persisted.
  • I've never slept so much in my life... I'm averaging 14-16 hours a day at the minute. I think I'm actually turning into a cat :rotfl:
Still feeling utterly disgusting. I made it out of the house long enough today to walk up to the pharmacy at the top of my street to speak to the pharmacist there. He suspects viral bronchitis. I came back with cough medicine, max strength ibuprofen and paracetamol. I've been told not to take the Day and Night Nurse as I need to get the mucus up rather than supress the cough, even though it hurts and I feel as though I might leave a lung behind every time. I cannot believe I've been housebound for 3 days now, and I'm starting to panic that I won't be well enough for my busy week next week. I'm just going to keep resting and sleeping as much as I need to and hope that on Monday I'm raring to go again.
There is nothing to report - I'm staying hydrated, trying to eat, drugged up to the eyeballs and everything else has taken a back seat for the moment.

  • Well I fell asleep on the sofa just before 5pm and slept another 4 hours. As a result I'm now wide awake - however, I am starting to feel more human than I have done for a few days. I can take a deep breath without coughing and although it is still painful I can just about function. I've managed to do a load of washing and put the rubbish out, which is more than I've managed for days... I feel like I lost myself a little bit for a while so there will be a bit of catching up to do.
On the plus side, the only money spent has been on medication the past few days. However, I've not managed to put any penny savings aside or do any frogs at all.
I'm going to try and sleep more tonight and see how I go in the morning, but I feel a big to-do list coming on.
