MSE News: Barclays offers switchers double rewards for a year

I have had to complain. Barclays will not let you switch accounts online or via phone. Barclays have advised me that you should be able to switch online or via phone but it don't work.
I have now arranged an appointment to see an advisor next week. I have asked to make sure the advisor does not try to sell me any products.
Should get loads of wonga in compensation.0 -
You would only receive the £14 each if you open 2 sole accounts and switch each into these, the £10 for the mortgage will be split between both of your accounts so £5 each re T&C's.0

Thanks for that, managed to find the joint account info in the T&C's. Still £32 pm after fees so decent return in 1st year.0 -
Quick question - have just clicked on the MSE link. Should I apply for a sole account, switch and then activate blue rewards or switch with blue rewards? I am thinking the former as direct debits may not be in place before the switch.
What do people reckon?0 -

I applied for the sole account, switch & blue rewards all at the same time. I didn't have any DDs on the a/c being switched so set up 3 on the new Barclays . It takes 21 days (approx) to set up a new DD. Don't know the timeline for transferring a DD, shorter I would think.
One will certainly go out this month, 1+2 should go out in June and 1+3 will then go out every month after. I stand to lose £7 this month and maybe next month- but I'll live! If you don't activate the blue rewards at the outset I think you have to go in branch to do it. I think the deadline is late June?
At least I will get the extra £1 from Barclaycard this month- and hopefully for the next 24 monthsBeing polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

What do you have to do to make a payment from this account?
Sent back the form asking for my signature.
Money has clearly gone in from other accounts.
Direct Debits have come out.
Signed up for PINSentry (bizarre this isn't automatic since you apparently need it to make payments) and logged in with my card.
I still get the "9802 - Sorry - you do not have any accounts from which we can set up a payment." Error.

Barclays answer :-
"This error code can show for a few reasons such as not having a current account that allows payments or no longer being eligible for online banking. What type of account do you hold with us?"
My own thoughts - Have you registered for online banking? Yet another hoop you have to jump through.Keef - Sheerness, Kent UK0 -

Since I am trying to make a payment through online banking, I would assume that it is all registered.
I'll be attempting to call their CS once I've determined it's clear I actually I do have an issue. I'd rather not go down that road, just yet.0 -
